Hardware difference wasn't the reason PS4 did so much better than Xbox One and getting to market a year later in this situation is insane. If someone really cares about performance that much they'll just built a PC and will probably get something better while investing less money and getting more options as to where they buy their games. The WiiU was the most powerful console the market for a while as well.
A console can't survive without exclusives and sharing its library with PC is about as good as leaving the console market.

A budget PC where you pay more for the same games, have to pay to have access to online games, doesn't have all the functionality of a PC, etc? Sweet deal.
There is no way any device sharing the same library with PC (worse actually, since PC exclusive games will still exist) can be more attractive in general unless they give the hardware away for free.
If Nintendo or Sony consoles had the same library as PC has I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.
As its shaping up, MS is going the way of Steam Machines.

A budget PC where you can buy used games, trade games, sell games, get discounts and GCU at Best Buy, where you do pay $40 to $60 bucks for online a year but get two free games every month which makes it a good value. I can't play Madden or FIFA on PC either.
Consoles are closed PCs with lower upfront costs heavily, heavily subsidized by everything else like the added software license costs and paid online services. Which is what makes the budget part invalid. It's more like those alternative payment options where you split it up into monthly smaller sums, but it adds up to more in the long run.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing IMO. Scorpio will be one of the ways you can play Xbox games and content. Windows 10 will be another.
Seems like a win/win all around. PC gamers get to play on the hardware of their choice. Console gamers will still have the simplicity and accessibility of a dedicated console. MS gets XBL revenue and a cut from game sales from each platform.

Even thought PC is the superior platform when it comes to the technical aspect. The thing is that when I play a PS4 game with subpar performance I wish I would be playing on a PC and yet when I play it on a PC, I wish I was playing on my PS4. I just like the whole console thing and I find it more enjoyable. My PC is pretty good, i7 4770, 16gb ram and a 780. So I can run games better than my playstation and yet I still chose console. So yes not everyone prefer playing on a PC no matter the advantages it provides.

I think its a good thing as well, not fox Xbox(in all likelihood Xbox branded PCs won't be a success, but for MS it doesn't need to be) but for MS and most gamers its probably for the best. They got into the console market more than 15 years ago and they now are in a very similar situation to when they started.

Again, why would a Scorpio announcement hinder people to buy the XboxOne NOW for Gears 4? If true Scopio is a YEAR away. Not some months/weeks.

The mobility alone for lan parties, so far that is possible is a big plus.
I wouldn't even want to think about moving my big tower desktop.

I don't play on PC, haven't had a gaming PC in more than a year. I'm insecure for speaking my mind? To me it just seem people are tripping in Scorpio hype, will hardly improve anything for the Xbox brand. regardless of how powerful it is.

But that's what's so fascinating about Scorpio. It's so powerful, that it makes me think that maybe it's not an upgrade, however unlikely that seems.
In that scenario, I could see multiple Scorpio SKUs.

Consoles aren't viable without third party support, like your WiiU example. The console will still have plenty of console exclusives that can't be played on other consoles. For many gamers that may as well be a full exclusive because they don't game on PC. Like yourself apparently.

Anywho, I wonder if Sony is doing a Intel "Tik-Toc" like upgrade path where on the third year of a current machine they release a slightly refreshed model, but go all out for the model afterwards.
I hope so. So much of the excitement and FGC-like fanfare behind a new generation would be gone if they decided to release incremental upgrades every three years.
Also hope they stop completely overhauling their UIs. So much progress is lost when these companies start from scratch, especially when it comes to the media capabilities.

Read the thread title, then read the OP, then read the source article. I think then it should be pretty clear that this isn't just a Scorpio thread, although I've seen some persons insinuate that it is. Now you are free to create a Scorpio only rumor and speculations thread but i doubt it'l prevent other people from posting in it. But they will likely get banned if they shit post and derail the thread.
