If Trunks did it, we're down to "we train hard, but we never thought to train harder-er!" for the transformation.

I've been taking a look at Kei17's post history. That person is from Japan,seems to be a big fan that knows a lot about staff information, regarding animators and directors, and has been posting in Kanzenshuu for a long time, but I haven't found anything that suggests access to backstage production information like that so far (and it'd need to be information coming from very close to the production in order to claim something personal like that).

Kei17 seems to be a trusted member of the community, but it's kind of odd that no one can point out what was this information previously leaked.

The only thing I saw was another poster mentioning that they received information from that poster in private that ended up coming true... but they didn't say what that information was.

If it's from Kei17, it's legit. Dude is a highly respected informer in the DB community, and I've had several dealings with him in the past. Got a lot of rare DB videos and promotional material through him.

And yeah it does seem a lot like the Android saga but that's also the saga we had the biggest main cast contribution in some time.

Huh? Why would coming up with a new arc make Toriyama inclined to stay with Super? I'd assume if he was ready to drop the series, it'd be because he's just tired of spending more time on Dragon Ball again.

Apparently it's because of the quality of Super so far. Not because he's tired of it.

So, it seems like
Black already has Goku's form in the future, but at the same time it sounds like he isn't really a Saiyan.
 
I love how when Vegeta said he would've preferred death that Goku's first thought wasn't about leaving his family behind it was the fact that they couldn't fight again.

Same thing happened to Chi Chi who was at one point considered the strongest woman on the planet.

Seems like aside from Pan Toriymama just doesn't care about women getting powered up.


Well where dragon ball is concerned.
 
This last episode made me realize the obvious - Super does comedy way better than it does action. The scene where Jaco is running from the Super Water while crying about being absorbed way genuinely way more entertaining than the actual Goku vs Vegeta fight going on. When he tripped and they had dramatic shots and reactions from everyone, only for the super water to side step him and go after Goten and Trunks made me laugh.
 
I wonder if Goku Black is the result of dead Goku fusing with someone in the afterlife with the potara earrings. Like, whatever fused with him somehow kept the dominant personality and motivation.

I still really want it to be a result of Goku being a dumbass and accidentally/recklessly fusing with an evil person
 
Episode got awesome towards the end due to Trunk's concern that Vegeta was going to die. Would have been nice if he had his own Gohan-Android 16 moment (obv in a smaller scale) and saved Vegeta himself, but what happened in the episode was still cool. Goku's warm up attacks have gotten kind of annoying though. Enjoyed the episode.

That's standard in film/tv, you're seeing various snapshots and angles of events that overlap, not a continuous stream. Like you get 10 seconds from trunks perspective, then 10 seconds from goku. Screen time 20 seconds, time passed 10 seconds.

On top of that you're seeing like an expanded version of time, time on screen doesnt equal time passed. Like you can get a bomb countdown of 3 minutes but make 15 minutes worth of television to convey all the events, perspectives, to convey peoples thoughts inside their head as well as words spoken.

So one would think, but even apart from explaining the time discrepancies - Vegeta was going to die, and Goku was still dicking around in base form running his trap.

I agree, thats just TV pacing though. I did think it was a bit silly, like just go SSBlue already, I hate this pointless sparring in base form.

I thought the whole point of this mini arc was to give us the current status of goku and vegetas power level, ie: whos winning. And they didnt even answer that.

That doesn't address my complaint at all. They told him to hurry and fight serious, and he didn't immediately turn into SSB.

From what Goku said, he thought he could beat Copy-Vegeta in his base since he didn't know that Copy-Vegeta could transform and was surprised when he did. Goku even said he had mixed feelings. On one hand, he wanted to save Vegeta, but was having fun fighting Copy-Vegeta and didn't want the fight to end soon.

So yes, Goku was dicking around because he was having fun and didn't want the fight to end soon, despite knowing Vegeta was in danger.
 
hey guys so I have this theory about the new arc and maybe since this trunk's hair is blue it signifies that it's a trunks from a different timeline and not the same trunks we already knew. Remember, the future trunks from the cell sagas hair isn't blue


Kind of a bummer tho. I wish it was the same trunks :( :(
 
I'm shocked, SHOCKED! I'm not that shocked.

Also I had a dream last night that revealed to me the reasoning behind Goku Black's name:

Goku is the descriptor for Black's current state.

Black is possibly a being who absorbs or clones someone's abilities somehow, and when in this "state" he refers to the names of the individual he is cloning at that time.

It's possible he has to acquire the person (like Buu) or their DNA (like Cell) but there may be more to their ability than normal (such as, acquiring all their future powers ahead of time or something like that). Since the upcoming arc is a timeline thing, it's possible that they erase them from the timeline entirely. So no coming back from death, etc. This last one is a hard one to imagine considering the usual effects on people being erased from timelines is that other people forget who they are (since they never existed in the first place).

Anyway, so when you see Goku Black, think of it akin to Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta. It's a descriptor telling you "Black is utilizing the power/appearance of Goku".
 
It IS a new Future Trunks, but this Future Trunks did the exact same things as the one we know, except he did it for a different timeline which is exactly equivalent to the main timeline of the show. The only difference being his hair colour. And perhaps the timeline he went back in time to save also had a blue haired Baby Trunks in it.

So somewhere out there is a timeline similar to where Dragon Ball Super is, except they accidentally got our White Haired Future Trunks because their time machines crossed paths or something.

Timelines:

(1) DBZ
(2) Future Trunks
(3) Cell kills Future Trunks

(4) DBZ with blue haired Baby Trunks
(5) blue haired Future Trunks *introduced in Super
(6) Cell kills blue haired Future Trunks

Now in Super we're still following Timeline (1), which originally met Timeline (2) Future Trunks with white hair. But Timeline (5) Trunks is coming to the the show's timeline next week, and it can be assumed that our Timeline (2) Future Trunks is going to Timeline (4).
