Destiny: Rise of Iron Launches September 20th (PS4/XB1), lots of details leak

uh

You make it sound like you're talking about classes. It's possible to beat all the raids in Destiny with any type of class. Unless you're talking about which boss you start on? Like...what are you talking about? When you go to an LFG, do you put a post saying 'LF1 Sniper, 2 Hand Cannoneers, and 4 scout rifle users. Everyone must have an HMG.'. Like what are you talking about.

What situation would people look for specifically when playing a game where anyone can do everything, and everything can do anything? Are you looking for like, 6 hunter parties? Maybe 5 warlocks and a Titan? I really don't get your argument here, because nothing in Destiny requires specific builds or party make up. Everything can be done by anything.

It was routinely common on LFG sites to see groups post specific requirements for people they were looking for, including weapons/armor pieces, amount of times the player had cleared the encounter, familiarity with a specific hardmode/challenge mode strategy, specific class/sub-class combo + exotic item usage - if you've ever utilized an LFG site to do a raid, you will notice there are always specific requests (and often times no requests) for groups looking to fill slots or players looking for a raid to clear.

Have you ever used the official forums to find a group for raiding? I have..

There is no selection of people (other than maybe sword guy)..its first come first serve, as long as you have the level. And you end up adding a shit load of randoms before getting in to a group. But we still got it done somehow

I've used DestinyLFG to clear raids, and my best experiences have always been when we established specific parameters for our sought after party member. The worst raids i've ever joined or group members i've ever picked up from DestinyLFG was always when we didn't give a toss as to who joined.

Vanilla Destiny will probably wind up being the defining gaming moment of the generation for me. It was so, so much fun.

First DLC's were a misstep, Taken King was when I stopped playing. Just felt like going through the motions.

I hope they do a big reset with Destiny 2. Next gen only of course, but also in terms of their content output. I really want to experience those great fireteam days again.

Do you guys think that Bungie's contract says that they need to reveal Destiny 2 at this year's E3?

The game was supposed to be out this year, so it would have made sense for it to have had a presence at this year's show.

Maybe that's why they're revealing the DLC ahead of next week's show.

Forget all that, contract, leaked release roadmap, forget it.

It has already been confirmed by Bungie and Activision that Destiny 2 will release 9/2017. For now.

So they probably show it off next year.

September 20th is way too far. TTK already became exhausted by the fanbase months ago. There hasn't been anything to do in that game for a very long time.

I think Bungie realized that most people who play Destiny were eventually going to leave. Better to give them a good experience while they're there and make it easy to start again, rather than devote all effort into keeping everyone hooked.

Magic the Gathering had to grapple with a similar issue, it's what helped spur the New World Order, a change in card design mean to make the game palatable to new and returning players.

They've officially said as much. They expect a lot of people to play Destiny, shelve it, and come back to it. They've been pretty good so far about letting people get up to speed.

Nah. E3 plans are never made that far out. They honestly don't solidify until like the week of, and sometimes the day of. See also: Microsoft pulling ODST from E3 at the last minute.

Community is thriving, especially since the April update. Yeah I've hit a wall a bit, but I've got Trials of Osiris to keep things fresh until Rise of Iron along with trying to complete that tier 12 build and some strike related weapons to get. Bungie just needs to drip feed details of Rise of Iron and give us a few tidbits to chew on this summer, I fully expect SRL to return with a few changes. If they blindsided us by bringing the old raids up to the new light level would incredible (please Bungie please). But it always seems like people come back the second there's a big update.

I don't disagree, but I think they'll be fine. Players might be off playing other games but most of them will likely come back for the expansion like they did with TTK.

Fixed that for ya.

Apt.

I bought Vanilla Destiny about a month ago and TTK about 2 weeks ago and I'm having a blast. There's tons of stuff to romp through, for now, and I haven't been this invested in any game in years. So, September release is perfect for me and I'm really looking forward to it. Give me 60fps on Neo / Scorpio and I'll bite which ever comes first.

Pretty much the only things there is to compain for me is : quite limited amount of different enemy types and the lack of matchmaking when it comes to raids.

The fact that there is more people talking about how much new content costs instead of what is it going to be it's sad.

And i say that living in Argentina where games costs a small fortune and we can't easily get them even if we had the money.

THIS

It really isn't when you consider that they have a micro transaction system in place now and if they still charge same price as TTK then it's just ridiculous.

They have basically released fuck all since TTK. Yea I know April update and all, but that didn't even match Crota's End DLC in terms of content. The "new strike" is basically Winter's Run reversed and it isn't the first strike to do that nor is the first one to do it in the same area. In year 1 we basically had sizeable content every 3-4 months until TTK. It doesn't help that TTK was basically one of those content that got old faster than anything else in the game.

I can also guarantee you that Rise of Iron will most likely have one new small patrol area and the rest of the content will just be spread across in the same damn areas with reverse of existing strikes and modifications that people have been playing for 2 years...and it'll be 3 years by the time Destiny 2 comes out. I would be glad to be wrong, but I know I won't because this is how Bungie has been handling this game for 2 years now.

I'll come back when they release this, but until then I am not interested. I got burned out of TTK by January this year and that was that..I've had better options to sink my time in.

I did everything I could do without getting bored on taken king by November last year so I am pumped for proper new content.

Still only have my one warlock charcter.
ill never platinum the game. but I still have 173 hours in this the most ive ever played a game since vanilla guild wars.

Sweet, if this if anything like TTK I'm super hyped. Guessing it'll be a bit smaller though, but I'm still in.

Feels dirty getting a horn for preordering. Raid boss looks sweet.

What are the odds this new version will be nerfed to hell? Also, now that I think about it, it wouldn't be all that useful against the TTK raid bosses considering how important precision damage is.

Dude I was so hyped for this new DLC then I read your post and now I feel not so hyped as you reminded me on how Bungie have just dropped the ball since TTK. God I hope your wrong but Bungie has not shown that they have plans to change they way they release DLC.

Liar Bungie....

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...-destiny-the-taken-kings-event-focused-future

Eurogamer spoke with senior designer Derek Carroll, part of the game's live team, to try and find out more about the event and nail down Bungie's plans for the rest of Destiny: Year Two. The gist? Don't expect a "monolithic" DLC any time soon - but several more events and surprises are in the pipeline.

This is all part of a new plan that could start as early as this month, according to two people familiar with Destiny’s development. Rather than sell big expansion packs like they did last year, Bungie is planning on giving out quests and missions for free, sources say. This will likely involve big drops every few months until the fall of 2016 but could also include trickles of smaller stuff throughout the year.

That means the game’s next paid expansion will be Destiny 2 in the fall of 2016, as has been known for a while now. That’ll be $60.

August 2015, he says don't expect any huge DLCs any time soon.

August 2015.

And they NEVER promised free DLC, ever.

I remember that they put some microtransactions to refund free events, updates, new maps etc...Did that happen ?
Anyway, i dont care anymore, Destiny is already dead for me...I just put these to remember some words in the past

Bungie never said this, officially.

It was probably the plan at one time, heck, it kind of was. We saw stuff like SRL, Crimson Doubles and the April Update.

Destiny 2 was pushed back until 2017 according to that dude from Kotaku who gets most stuff right.

Only thing that would get me back is matchmaking for end game content.

I haven't played since launch. I don't have a lot of gaming time due to family, so not being able to matchmaking for end game is a killer for me. Completed as much of vanilla as I could and didn't bother with the expansions. I've been tempted with the complete editions (or whatever its called) when they pop up on PSN sales, but yeah, still no matchmaking there so not bothered.

Again. Bungie never said that.

Iron Gjallarhorn? As a freaking pre-order bonus? Really? Ugh.

Yes, it did happen. The microtransactions funded the live events we saw like Festival of the Lost, Crimson Doubles, SRL, April update, etc.

No one (Yes, not even Bungie) ever came out and said it would fund new maps, modes, and TTK-sized updates.
Exactly.

What? Bungie literally said don't expect monolithic DLC any time soon. The other stuff was Kotaku/community trying to fill in blanks.

And to their credit:

September - Taken King
October - Festival of the Lost
December - SRL
February - Crimson Doubles
April - Taken Spring

if they hit a new event in July (likely due to Bungie Day) then they'll have not had more than a 2 month gap between events from Taken King to Rise of Iron, even if they don't do any other events.
