Hope to see you in the OT after you buy the game then.
Not specifically for you, but too many times I see some people dropping in those threads to say they love those changes and then never buy the game afterwards...

I have the special edition pre ordered and for the most part none of these bother me outside of the loss of hot spring dlc but considering the game isn't dubbed I'll just watch it on youtube and basically get the same experience <_<

i don't have to buy it because i'll get it for free but i'm sure to shoot you a post in the OT.

I Prefer most ofthe changes as well and I will be purchasing the game of course. However I don't think I need to prove that to you by posting in the OT. I just finished blazing through 80 hours of bravely second and I only posted in its OT once and that was after finishing the game. People have different opinions.

Meh, I'm not buying this game for the idols. I'm buying this game because it's supposed to be a great JRPG. I'd hope, even for the people complaining, that is your driving reason for wanting to purchase this game.

Yeah, again, sorry, was not aiming at you specifically, but some in this (or other questionable localization changes) thread that seemed happy with this change never were interested in this game in the first place
won't single out some people
.
Guess you're a reviewer or getting it as a gift/present? Enjoy!

Same thing in the other way mind you, hope people bummed out by those changes still play this game in the future, even if not at launch or used.

I'm still curious if even half the people celebrating the removal of skinship in Fire Emblem Fates did bought the Game after all.

I was indifferent towards that, but now that I'm playing the game, I feel taunted by the removal since it was done so badly.

I hate to agree with a lot of the right wing reactionaries who oppose this so called 'censoring' (I'm talking about people on 4chan etc, not GAF), but it does make me uncomfortable. I don't view games as entertainment products, they exist as creations by a creative team of people. There is a much larger market for world cinema than there is for JRPGs, yet there would be absolute uproar if content was removed from niche foreign language cinema. We should be treated as intelligent people who understand the cultural context of Japanese games, just as it is assumed that people watching foreign language films will be able to deal with differing cultural norms.

I don't think we should be stuck with American/Western versions of Japanese creations. It does genuinely upset and disappoint me when there is gratuitous casual misogyny and so called 'fan service' in so many Japanese games, but dealing with that is a conversation Japan needs to have with itself. It is not okay for the West to police the content of Japanese-made games, any more than it's okay for the white music industry to police the content of hip hop. I think it's a good analogy, as there is a very clear vein of misogyny running through a lot of hip hop, which is something that again constantly disappoints me, but it's for those artists and that scene to work out those issues, not for right-on white people like me to decide what sort of lyric content should or shouldn't be released.

I don't want pervy content in games, and I'm not some sort of free speech libertarian either, but there is xenophobia towards Japan lying underneath a lot of this. I mean, some of the censored costumes in TMS are no more revealing than the costumes in Shantae. Not a defense, cos I hate those costumes, but the point is that it's Japanese games which always get singled out for changes.

When they make these changes, I'm glad it gets the reaction it does, because it draws attention to the pervy/pedo aspects of these games that make me realize I want nothing to do with them whether they try to adjust age numbers or cover up some cleavage or not.

I wish Nintendo would stop producing this kind of crap in the first place, rather than trying to change things in the localization later. I grew up on JRPGs in the 16 and 32-but days (I was around for 8-bit, but didn't like the genre at that time), and I keep wanting to get back into them, but they're rotten with fan service and/or sexualized children anymore.

Stop this is nothing compared to what 4kids did

Most of the changes people are crying about most people wouldn't even have noticed without access to the internet and Japanese versions.

I agree with you. I hope people play it too, since the gameplay is so fantastic, and hopefully we are seeing most of if not all the changes already. There is so much to love about this game top to bottom that I really hope people give it a chance.

I hate changes like this, so unecessary and all, but I see it also as a lose lose situation. You either accept the changes and these things keep getting done in the future, or you boycott it and Nintendo just goes "no one wanted the game so there, not making things like this again" and they just avoid the reason that made everyone mad. I really wish everyone could have had a chance to play the original Japanese version in English. It's a shame that the fact those in the west cannot due to these silly unecessary changes will hurt this game in the long run.

One thing I really would love to read about some day in some news article or whatnot would be the whole process of how they made the decisions on the changes and why. I find localization choices these days really interesting, especially choices I don't agree with and would love to really get the info into reasonings behind it. I wonder if we will ever see an article about that anywhere one day?

Are wedding dresses pervy now?

Actually, what aspects are you talking about that were particularly pervy/pedo in #FE?

I do. I'd prefer the message of a bomba rather than it selling.

And that's why we went though last generation missing out on a lot of great game or almost not getting them. I'm glad your desire to see some underage girl clevage justifies you boycotting games like this and risking us not getting them at all.

Most of the changes people are crying about most people wouldn't even have noticed without access to the internet and Japanese versions.

Only if one was ridiculously inattentive. Most of the changes are blatant, obvious and poorly done. Obviously if one doesn't know changes exist they won't know changes were made, but side-by-sides make a lot of the changes (with the exception of stuff like pelvic shading) immediately obvious.

You clearly have no Idea what the game is about but thanks for the drive by shit post without even bothering reading through the thread.

These changes are so weird.

But it's whatever, none of them are really major and nothing that affects the gameplay.
After all the praise I saw for the JP release there's no way I'm gonna skip this.

I wouldn't have known of these if not for this thread and even then I still can't bring myself to care.

Again, how is anyone supposed to know changes to a video game were made if you're not even familiar with the original material? It goes without saying that the only reason people are aware changes were made is because of comparison shots.

I read the OP and scanned the thread for comparison images. Sorry if that isn't good enough for you, but I'm not reading the entirely of a 1700-post thread. I've seen enough and don't need you to approve.

At this point, the most fun I'm going to get out of this title is the Editing Game.

"I wonder if they edited this!" "Or this!" "Or this!"

Shame. =/ I won't miss not playing this. So many other games coming out that I can easily give this a pass. That's the beauty of this. There are so many publishers who get it and don't mess with shit for the sake of messing with shit, that I can ignore even great games. =D

This thread is fun though to observe though.

Correct, and that's why these types of changes are no longer valid in my opinion. Back in the day, we didn't know what was being changed, but now we do. We spend time looking at the original release of the game and its content long before it even comes out in a territory where we can buy it. We know what the game has and what it is supposed to be, so when we get something that isn't that, we are rightfully upset.

For the people here who are saying that they hate that the original game had all this "pervy" content, then don't buy the western release either. You'll still be giving them money for their game, therefore rewarding them for their actions.

wow lol, I'm pretty sure they used this to decide which to change and keep

At this point I wouldn't be surprised about it, it's gotten really silly.

The changes don't make any sense, and the discrepancies make them really jarring, no game deserves to be treated this way :/

Shun is and naw dude fuck that. the thread doesn't need a title that invites even more bullshit drive-by posts even if there's truth in them
True, true...I'm buying the game regardless (special edition at that) but that name would pretty much turn it into part 2 of this thread.

Stop this is nothing compared to what 4kids did

The fog on the first boss is just one of many things that's just as bad what 4kids would do.

I'm pretty sure that the subtitle has already been decided upon, and while there's a teensy little bit of cheek to it, it's very much in keeping the the game's themes and closest point of comparison in the world of anime.

I might be tooting my own horn here since I came up with it, but it works!

What's really your point with this?

Er... that the poster is happy about the changes because it highlights the supposedly pervy and pedophilic aspects of the game, yet with an avatar that would befit the complaints the user has with the original content? Making it a somewhat hypocritical viewpoint?

How is that difficult to understand?

I have no issue with the original Japanese version of that, nor have I said anything about that outfit specifically, so I'm not sure why you've brought it up in response to me twice now.

But then what was the original Japanese version content that you had issues with?

I guess It makes sense if you remove a ton of context going and simplify dude's viewpoint down to a black and white dichotomy. Also, what's "pedophillic" about his avatar?

At this point it's just ridiculous. Change for the sake of change isn't something I'm willing to give someone money for.

It's a viewpoint that was given without knowledge of what the actual changes were. And what's "pedophilic" about the picture I posted? It was the "pervy" part.

According to the poster he didn't even say what you're accusing him of saying.

Since you're the spokesperson for the poster, what were they referring to, then?

Damaging alterations to narrative and character development are worth boycotting and we already have one instance of it in the game so far.

I'm no ones spokesperson it's just ridiculous to see people who prefer the changes and are voicing such in this thread are being attacked with strawman. Like, you pointing out that avatar to get him in a "gotcha" was bullshit.

I don't like fan service. I don't like the inclusion of costumes and scenarios that exist primarily to titilate, especially in cases where the characters are very young.

The amount of skin being shown is not always important. You can sexualize a character in exploitative ways while having every bit of skin covered, and you can have characters appear in swimwear in ways that are not sexualized or exploitative. Context matters.

If you don't know the difference between something like a hot springs DLC that very obviously only exists to show more skin, and something like the source of my avatar, which is a retro-styled family beach scene that is in no way sexual, then context means nothing to you and I don't know how to have a conversation without context.

I don't have any issue with people who prefer the changes. I myself prefer the B-boy Tsubasa outfit to her swimsuit outfit. But there is a significant difference between people speaking based on their own tastes and people speaking out of ignorance. You're equating the two, for some reason.

But again, do you know what the Hot Springs DLC in #FE is about? If you do, then how could you say that it is sexualized or exploitative?
