Word has it the blood ban has been lifted

I hope this doesn't mean they still aren't making sure the blood is safe to donate.

Like Im pretty sure I'd be banned under regular regulations because i visit my home country every 1-2 years, and the country (particularly the city) is under a blacklist of blood donation due to diseases present down there

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
This is terrible and infuriating. Humanity at its very lowest and stupidest.

I'm real sorry if some people are tired of seeing the same gun debate points. You know what I'm tired of? Fucking mass shootings. All shootings.

How about we let people react and discuss as they will, and if you don't like it and you find it "derailing," don't respond. But not everyone reacts like you and that doesn't make their reactions wrong. ffs

Is this a joke post? This really isn't the time for joke posts.
Why do people never reply to these posts with any points disproving the person, but instead some sparky response about joke post, bootstraps, laughter the poster, call them an idiot.

If you think he is so wrong please point it out or don't reply.

So can we start the discussion on why religions are dangerous?

So sorry for the families of all involved. Horrible horrible tragedy.

It doesn't say they don't test the blood first.

Unbelievable.

Just.. unbelievable. I'm LGBT and currently, temporarily staying in America. This and the recent bathroom bombing make me feel wary of going to public places.

I can't believe how deep the hate goes. It's so upsetting, startling and abhorrent that issues like the gender identity and sexual orientation of other people can actually drive people to take lives. Even if you believe it's horrible for whatever reasons, even if you think we might go to hell for it- isn't that exclusively our problem? We're not trying to push some alternate agenda on the 'common folk', aside from mere acceptance. Why would we?

We're just, well, trying to be ourselves, trying to love who we want to love. Why is that such a bad thing? Why is it even a big deal?

Because the bible. I wish I knew.

I'm so angry I'm shaking right now. I'm close to deciding to go out and get a concealed carry permit and I HATE this country's glorification of guns and violence.

Terrible weekend for Orlando and the US. So sad that this keeps happening. Thoughts and prayers to everyone involved.

Disgusting, in part of the perpetrator and the Country and attitudes that makes these actions easily attainable.

Make a stand sane people of America, I know you are out there. Real and big change is needed.

This cannot keep happening :(

Previously, the deadliest single person mass murder in the US was in 1927 with a bomb used at a school. Now all it takes is a simple stroll to pick up a single gun to kill 50 people.

Sickening.

Full blood screening taking place.

Why are young men in the west radicalizing?

What's the appeal? It seems western comforts are not as satisfying.

I remember reading about this going on in the UK but it's spreading.

we should give up, let the islamic terrorists have their caliphate and whatever the fuck they want. pull all troops out of Syria/Iraq/Afghanistan/Saudi Arabia/etc and stop bombing them.

then maybe just maybe these terrorist mass killings won't happen every few weeks or months.

this can keep going on for decades and get much worse unless we give in.

Awful precedent to set.

The gun debate isn't just over, it never took place.

Even though I'm nowhere near Florida, I'm going to attempt to donate blood today. Donations are needed across the country, not just Orlando. If you can donate, donating blood goes a lot further than "thoughts and prayers."

I mean he kind of has a point

not with the "we are inferior," part but there's a definite problem with masculinity, especially in this country

Women are capable of plenty of insane, violent acts; social norms just make it less likely they'll carry one out on this scale. Men aren't to blame, masculinity and "machismo" are.

Hopefully this will make it permanent

Unfortunately with how HIV works, it should not. HIV has a window period where you can be infectious still, but it is unable to be found in a test. They have gotten a lot better at the testing, so the window period has shrunk, but it still exists. Once they get it down to nothing, if it is at all possible, they will remove the ban altogether. Hopefully it is sooner rather than later because some types of blood are hard to keep in stock and the gay community are great people who would probably donate a lot of blood.

No mental illness arguments here. I'm just not sure how that ban of firearms accounts for the 350 million guns that are already out there. Do they all disappear?
I have no clue. I just think the headache of figuring that out would be preferable to constant massacres. MASSACRES. That's a word we don't hear often in other democratic developed countries and it's so scary to think you could end up getting used to it.

You could give me a thousand incredibly reasonable arguments as to why outright banning guns is completely impossible right now in the USA and how the immediate results would be nothing short of a national disaster. I'm just saying there's lots of people living very comfortably not fearing gun violence and that you'd be much better off the same way. I can only hope your legislators put you in a path where such a scenario is possible in the next few decades.

I'm in Korea, which I could donate blood. I've always had trouble putting on weight though and legitimately don't weigh enough to donate it.

I find a little disturbing how some people (not here) are more worried about people generalizing Islam instead of the victims and homophobia.

It's definitely a significant component of this incident, but the Islamic terrorist angle is going to outweigh it.

I always find it fascinating when a horrible event takes place that people still post stuff on social media like nothing happened (5 minutes ago in my newsfeed):

YZ8pOqd.jpg
So what? I really think you are reading too much in here. Unless people are personally involved, they tend to carry on about their lives as if nothing happened. If we did not, well we would probably all be severly depressed. I really do not mean to sound insensitive. Please tell me if I do and then I will retract my statement. I just dont believe you can fault people like the person on your newsfeed.

I don't believe this until I see more sources.

If true...... :(
CBS has reported that he acted alone but the FBI is investigating the possibility of extremist ties. They also reported the local authorities told them that there was evidence of extremist leanings, but their information was tenuous at this point. ISIS may have put the gunman's picture on an official twitter feed, but CBS said they were still verifying sources.

Overall to me it seems CBS is doing the most responsible and accurate reporting so far.

When all evidence points one way, just double down and use caps!

Oh enough. Yes, this is Lt Gov Dan Patrick, who has a history of marked hatred and bigotry towards the LGBT community. I fully, with all my heart believe he was condoning this shooting because the victims were gay.

If you could get off your smarmy bullshit high horse for whatever fucking reason to defend this shitsmeer on human existence then I would appreciate it.

This is horrible. Praying for those affected. I wish I could say tighter gun laws could prevent this but it will be a very long time before such restrictions could actually have an impact with all the guns out there currently.

Ugh, This is horrible, no words.

This has to be one of the largest mass shootings in U.S history.

It is the largest

As an Australian, I have quite a large bias when it comes to gun control, but man... guns are the problem. guns will always continue to be the absolute prime reason these massacres happen. but i dont think anything will ever be done about it.

It would be massive in scale but a gun buyback program to clean up supply coupled with new restrictions, tracking, monitoring and licensing requirements would go a fuck long way toward reducing gun violence of all types.

I think the self radicalization is more of a personal thing. They probably feel like outcasts in society, they probably have issues getting jobs, so when they see propaganda, they are drawn into its hateful rhetoric.

Like with this issue, there is probably some form of personal homophobia from the asshole (I mean killer) on top of whatever spurned him on to do such actions.
