I really hope the camera isn't forgotten though, if I can't take upskirt photos of zombies I'm going to be a little bit sad. Also, it might be nice to play the proper end sequence as something other than a slideshow.

Then he's not voiced by TJ Rotolo. We heard how bad that turned out in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

Wow, I didn't expect another Dead Rising but cools. I guess I'll wait for more information on what system this one is going to be on but so far from the GIFs, it looks fun.
 
If ms are really pushing PC/Xbox with there first party it's going to be pretty hard to know what these games are running on at this show.

If it's something that would not have existed otherwise without Microsoft bankrolling the project, then they'll do whatever Microsoft wants. It's Microsoft's money that's on the line at that point.
 
Really disheartened to see that they're continuing down the route of DR3's full city open world. I guess the Dead Rising I really liked is dead and buried. Another franchise I can cross off the interest list. :(

dead rising 3 sold 2 million copies and going off capcom financials, their 2 million title this year is dead rising 4.

OTOH, assuming the 98% RoTR rumor is true, I also can't see MS even agreeing to do both UWP/Win32 when they're helping foot the bill ever again.

I love (and I do mean love) DR1 and 2 (although not as much as 1), and I don't really mind the full open world. So long as there's some nice interiors and they city is varied enough, it's where the series was ultimately going to end up anyway.

And who knows, maybe this will have a fully recreated mall in there too as well as a full city open world...

Dead Rising's (original) environment was perfect. I loved every store, exploring and seeing the details and secrets. Really gave you a sense of place and living in Dawn of the Dead.

What a great "launch period" title that was. Felt like such a showcase at the time- in the two months before we had Gears haha. Too bad they're all gonna become more and more this "GTA with Zombies" thing with a million side quests and crafting things and more filler than it needs...

Shrug. Different strokes. I couldn't stand playing DR3 after a while, and navigating a city just felt so generic I just lost all interest. With DR1 I memorized map layouts and best routes by the shops, escalators, etc. It was super fun thinking about how everything connected like a real mall. With DR2, I segmented the casino into individual themed parts and built that map in my head. It wasn't as interesting as DR1 but it still captured the tone well.

With DR3, it was like playing Crackdown, GTA, Saint's Row, etc, except with inferior city design, and zombies everywhere. I've always associated Dead Rising with "amusement" above all else, and DR3 just wasn't amusing. This doesn't look amusing either.
 
I was really hoping that they would go back to Willamette and frank for DR4 so I'm so happy that it seems to be the case :D

Like many others, I'm really hoping you get to explore the mall as well as the town and maybe even revisit some survivors/psychos from the first game.

I don't disagree that the city was generic as hell in 3, they really could and should have been more imaginative with its design, but that's not to say they can't/won't be here.

And who knows, maybe the mall is in this and they just added an additional part of the town for us to explore.

no, that entirely depends on the kind of deal they have done in the first place. Like RISE or DR3, they might have funded it just enough to get console exclusivity(and this case it would be timed exclusivity on Win10 store), but then the rights to to publish the game on Steam would be on the original devs. (DR3 is published by Capcom on PC, as RISE is published by Crytek)

I don't own either console anymore, so you're wrong on your salt accusation, and my education is in video production, so I'm not mistaken about the crushed blacks in that game. It is factual and measurable.

I don't need a new TV, I don't need to recalibrate the one I have, and I don't need to convince you of facts in order for them to be true.

:) You are always so positive. That being said I do hope game devs continue to play other games. With little touches in open world design like some of the tit for tat and subtle gameworld changes in the much maligned and rightfully so Homefront Revolution, to the excellence of side missions in Witcher 3. It can be done open world and can be interesting.
