wait so it upscales to 4k? so it renders sub 1080p to 4k .... whats the point of this console again?
If you have a 4K TV you can have the xbox upscale. It's probably not as good as the TV.

But you get a drop in replacement for the current Xbone. Selected games should output in HDR as well which will be a big quality bump for people with TVs that support it. UHD media too.

I still can't get over that the Xbox One S isn't available now.

Or that Microsoft announced its replacement is coming 18 months from now.

This is not how you do things. Announce the Xbox One S the day it is available, then keep your mouth shut about new products that are still 18 months away.

The Scorpio is not a replacement for Xbox One S. It's going to be considered a different tier that will play the same games. It will also be much more expensive. There will be many who won't want to spend that much.

Yeah but I was hoping for a mic built into the machine so I can tell the xbox to change channels without needing the Kinect sensor or a mic on my head.

Same. And with cortana having more options like checking weather etc, it'd be handy to have the mic built in. I currently have Kinect but it is big and ugly

This can't be right????

It's not

This slim version streams 4k content but only has a normal bluray player, yes?

UHD Bluray support. Feel free to read the press release on that site I linked.

interesting they revealed none of this at e3 conference, or did I miss that?

probably for the best, as the $400 price point would have been a huge downer.

EDIT: nevermind - i apparently had my eyes closed and didn't see other posts talking about this, sorry

People in the market for a cheaper console shrink aren't the same people in the market for a brand new expensive console.

Potential Scorpio buyers likely already have an Xbox one so I doubt XB1 sales would even be that affected

They should have done the same thing that they're doing with the controllers and let you pick your own colours. I know the controller options are far too limited at the moment but I'm sure there are peopel who are interested.

And hey, it was an honest mistake, no need to correct it before showing it to everyone on the internet.

Ha! Yeah, it's a silly and misleading oversight.

Also not sure why the XOne S marketing says "Starting at $299" when the only model available when it debuts in August is the $399 one. That's also a bit misleading.

I have thanks,I'm just not clear on the format of disk it plays. 4k bluray disks are rare but to my knowledge can only be played on true 4k players.
True 4k bluray players seem expensive.

The only one on the market right now is $399.

This is huge for people with 4K TVs wanting to get into UHD BR. It'll be the de-facto device.

Two questions before I buy this:

How different is the new constroller in terms of buttons? Improvements?

Is the internal Power Supply universal volatge? 120 to 240 volt? Can't pre-order from Amazon US without knowing this first.

BTW, even though the Kinect port is missing, you will be able to get a USB adaptor for it from MS, allegedly available for free to existing X1 owners upgrading.

I hate the bulky VCR look that is the Xbox One.

But this revision is very, very nice.

It's not PS2/PS2 slim/GB Micro/ good - but it's a massive upgrade. Definitely better looking than the PS4 or WiiU.
