Hrm, not sure why you like Dead Rising if you think the time limit is dumb?
If you just want a zombie-killing game, I feel like there are dozens of choices out there (and maybe some day Omega Force will make a The Walking Dead Musou...), but Dead Rising originally was a particular type of game built around its peculiarities such as the time limit / roguelike aspects and the photography and stuff like that. The series washed out some of the funkiness as it went along in the sequels, but what makes these games fun is the challenge of getting difficult things done by weird means. The more they give the player total mastery over the enemy and remove the impossible goals put in front of you, the less special this series becomes in a sea of available zombie games.

Is there a camera mechanic? If so can you earn extra PP with it for taking certain pictures? How is the leveling system? Thanks!
The time limit is the core of what made the game fun for me. Getting all survivors and completing the story while defeating psychopaths before the helicopter arrived was always a blast.

I really do hope they bring back the mission timers, weren't those gone in DR3? and the survivor escorts are back. Yes, I liked it, I had fun.

the entire main storyline was a sandbox mode...
The main clock takes like 18-20 hours real time to wind down in story mode and you have access to everything from the get go.

Yeah the first level teaches you goto use it, it has a selfie mode. Uh there is a skill tree. Leveling system looks good for what its worth currently.
The mall I'd like to add is actually quite fuckin big.
It has 4 areas inside it nswe and the food court.
Plus the 3 Townes. Highground, underground.

I wish they would go back to just the mall setting. I really liked the feeling and atmosphere of being trapped in a building with limited resources. That was a huge reason why Dead Rising was so appealing to me to start with. The series has kind of lost its urgent, but hilariously carefree tone.

Everything about 4 looks and sounds awful. Even worse is that we're likely never getting a PC port of DR1 now either, regardless of how low the odds for that previously were, what with this sequel being a bastardized "re-imagining" of sorts.
Can't say I'm surprised after how 3 was a joke, but still. Extremely disappointing what happened to this series.

Dead Rising has always sacrificed pretty fx for the glory of the horde, and I would be ashamed of this game if it didn't make the same sacrifice.
Well, the 10th anniversary of the first game is coming up (..I feel old), so I expect them to do something. I have a feeling that we're just going to get BC for the Xbox One though :'(
I just went back and watched some DR1 game play and damn this game had so much charm. It was actually unique. I remember going out on release day to buy it after playing the hell out of the demo. The game didn't disappoint at all. It was oozing with atmosphere. It was fun to just explore that mall and find secrets. It had just enough of that Japanese touch to make it something special. Just imagine the kind of game they could make with the hardware we have now if they stuck to their roots a bit... They lost most of what made the series special to begin with with 3. Larger worlds aren't automatically better. I would rather take a really detailed mall over a lifeless city.
