What are you most excited for?

Better than last years for me by far. This conference was top to bottom gameplay and trailers that actually showed something (Minus Death Stranding).

How do you guys feel about the ps4 VR price point of $399

I think it's high priced. Not impossible, but high priced. Also depends on the specs, a lot has been said that the PS4 as is can't do a top quality VR experience and that it'll need a spec bump to really deliver (Neo), so at $400... that's a pretty big request.

If you're getting a PS4 for VR spending $800 at retail for something that might be a little sub par is a lot to ask.

I cringed at the Final Fantasy stuff.

Yep. Final Fantasy XV is the worst looking game of E3. It delivered the two worst segments of the show for both Microsoft and Sony. It's amazing how far this series has fallen, but it just seemed so tone deaf... Showing some buxom titty babe flashing her boobs and legs to the gamer IN VR (!!!!! PLAY AS HER BOYFRIEND!!!!) just seemed so weird to me and something that I would have expected from a "GIANT ENEMY CRAB" conference.

Loved it, definitely a solid 9/10. Sony really does have a knack for theatrics. That orchestra was a great addition to the conference.

Kinda meh. But overall looking forward to some games.

Not into RE but RE7 looked pretty cool.

Kojima is also good. Not quite sure if its a horror game or not tho.

The Crash announcement felt tone deaf due to all the teases. That being said, I never played Crash and love 3D Platformers so I'll try the remasters or remakes or whatever they are supposed to be.

Days Gone just looked boring. Too many games just look the same with that setup.

GOW actually kinda looked cool but I don't think I'll bother in the end.

Horizon looked really damn cool. May not get it day one since it launches next to another open world game (Zelda) but will for sure get it next year.

So happy to have a The Last Guardian release date!!!

Kinda bummed Detroit has multiple protags. Was looking forward to more girl only games. I did really enjoy the game footage tho so I'm hyped.

I guess its safe to say Gravity Rush 2 is next year since theres no release date by now. I wish I had official confirmation tho since I need to budget my money.

this conference was great, seriously. but, im just curious, why no jrpgs aside from ff15? any chance we'll get more of that genre during the rest of e3?

WOW!!! That conference was just awe inspiring. I seriously just stopped commenting on games today because just about everything was a disappointment, but I was bouncing out of my seat with my jaw hanging open like a drooling idiot for that entire conference. Unbelievable. Way better than last year for me.

Felt like a much more subdued show. Still a lot of bangers, but i sort of missed stuff like the indie showcase reels, or random stuff like the Tim Schaffer remaster announcements. Aside from EA pretty much all the conferences were like this for me. Solid across the board but nothing mind bending.

Yeah I think PSX is more my thing

Sony delivered again. I think it just comes down to the games that I'm interested in, and Sony seems to have the exclusives that I care about. That being said, I'm not about to say MS didn't have a good conference.

Can't wait for Nintendo tomorrow and whenever Square comes on.

True. However, there are a good number of games that will be available soon. The Last Guardian, Call of Duty, Final Fantasy, Horizon, Resident Evil 7. The newly shown games (most of them) are stuff that's in the pipeline, and I'm cool with them being shown and not necessarily available soon.

I found Bethesda's format much better. Here's some stuff to extend the life of some current games. Here's something you can play right now or very soon. This will be our big blockbuster this holiday and that's for 2017 or later.
It almost looked like Sony's development is an a weird cycle where after a drought they now have too much stuff in development.

was not impressed today (leaks dampened anything microsoft had to show), but sony came out and showed games i wanted to play that justified owning a PS4. best conference so far

What the actual fuck do you expect from a conference?

Man some people are just dumb.

Jesus, you are rude.

But for some reason, Im going to answer you anyway. I expect them to be like they always are, like Microsofts was, like Ubisofts was, like EAs was. Im not saying all of those were perfect, but I enjoy the flow and talking in those, rather than just trailer after trailer.

Cool stuff: Spiderman was a little too quick-time event-y but we'll see how the actual game is, Spiderman lends itself better to action games than almost any other superhero property so I really want this to be good. The Last Guardian looked gorgeous and full of bloom, just what I expect from Team Ico. Infinite Warfare actually looked interesting and fun and I haven't thought that about a Call of Duty game since CoD4.

The rest...

Horizon was disappointing, just your standard Westernized casual action stuff that doesn't give the monsters and equipment proper presence/weight. It looked pretty as hell, but the amount of slowdown and such going on is a drag when I was really hoping for a Monster Hunter style adventure game with robots and a huge budget.

God of War looked...I don't even know? I never really cared about the other games (got halfway through GoW 1 before getting bored with it), and this didn't look particularly impressive as far as action gameplay went.

Didn't really care about VR other than Infinite Warfare, everything else looked like a tech demo or a spinoff of a "proper" game.

Resident Evil I'll wait for demo impressions/recordings, the trailer didn't really show that much off.

I couldn't care less about another 3rd person action shootmans game who's only features seem to be "it's prettier" and "more zombies".

The lack of anything niche was disappointing. Not even Gravity Rush 2 or Persona 5 made it to the stage and the complete (?) lack of indie titles is bewildering.

Some people have different tastes. I like quirky japanese games, of which there were zero (I'm not really counting FFXV as particularly quirky). Horizon looked interesting, and beyond that nothing else caught my attention. I have no attachment to Hideo Kojima as a creator, so his game trailer just left me bored and confused and with no idea what type of game he was even working on

Couldn't agree more. Horizon looked very good, but the rest not so much. Now Nintendo could actually "win" E3 for me with Zelda, Pokemon and Dragon Quest
and maybe some surprises like Mother 3
.

Why not? They've done so before

Yes, just like they've done indies before. Because they needed time to fill. Under no circumstance would Sony ever prioritize a niche Japanese game or indie over anything they've shown today. But in previous years, they didn't have much choice.

Why did everything look like the Last of Us?

Lol this. Days Gone and Dad of War 4 just instantly made me think that

Conference was solid. They were never gonna beat Dreams 2.0. Like how would they even, it takes time for stuff like FF7 Remake and Shenmue 3 to reach that legendary status. The only thing they could pull off at that level was Half Life 3, and that's still 1 announcement vs the Trinity of Dreams.

The pacing was great (it even felt a bit too short when it actually ended), there was barely any talking, the orchestra was great (especially with those themes lmao) and the only thing that was a bummer was ending on Days Gone (gameplay should have been shown after it got its trailer, just felt weird to end on that note).

I liked it. I hope they keep the structure for next E3.

There's always disappointment when games you want to see don't show up but that essentially boils down to fan entitlement when the reality is that the games simply aren't ready to be showcased yet or won't matter to the generalized audience who watches these things. There were less crazy surprises compared to last year, but the pacing of the show was excellent and still the best of all the conferences at this E3.

Congrats Sony!
