It wasn't weak but I don't consider it strong by any means; Acceptable?
I love Sony but Microsoft had new core features, consoles, controller options and games, while Sony had. games. And an orchestra. A great idea but no news of any new PS4.5 or features that make gaming better makes is meh.

Xbox 360->PS4 convert here day one; My xbox one I purchased last fall.
Sony was crushing it the start of the generation but Microsoft has made bigger strides recently.
Cross platform gaming is massive : Xbox and Windows 10 are one community, Playstation is another.
Multiplayer longevity hangs on player base, and adding another platform is huge news to me.
Should I buy third party shooter on X1 with 5 mil base of W10+X1 or on PS4 with 2.5 million base?
I have everything and play whats best at the time; I think Microsoft had a far stronger showing.

Horizon actually showed off interesting gameplay, just as they did in the reveal. COD also showed a decent amount, though it was more familiar.
God of War has serious potential, but what they showed didn't have the frenetic action of previous God of Wars, nor the heft to each blow that you saw in For Honor. But it had giants and dragons, and thats a serious plus

No need to mention PS4Neo if it might come out Fall 2017. Mention it at E3 in 2017. MS had to jump the gun since they lost.

I actually play video games though...not just post on GAF and talk about them. The release schedule proves those sprouting nonsense about showing games only coming out “soon” have no weight. There’s plenty coming on soon and beyond on PS4, Sony can talk about whatever they want. And a lot of the conference was soon if you actually check dates.
Anyway, was that COD section in VR? Won’t that make you sick with the camera moving that fast?

It's definitely not about what console the game is more popular on. It's not a one way street. It goes both ways. It isn't 'the other way around' because one has a bigger userbase. I wasn't saying that that feeling only works PS4 conference -> One conference. It makes sense that when you see a game on another stage that is coming to your console that you are hyped for it.

Sony was lean and lethal this year. Pretty killer. Honestly, ms just looks route by comparison. Gears was gears, forza was forza (looked damn good however), recore was whatever, etc. Sony's games had a breadth and excitement that really shows why they are number one and MS is becoming a distant #2. All that in the conference and they did even mention NEO. Confidence.

This year crushed last year in my opinion. Obliterated it.
It was mostly game play. Few trailers. God of War going in its new direction looks magnificent, The Last Guardian brought a tear to my eye, Days Gone looks phenomenal, Horizon Game play stole the show, Spiderman looks out of this world great, they showed AAA VR titles including Star Wars and Batman...I mean, what else could anyone ask for? The only one MIA was Sucker Punch.

You can be critical and have any avatar you want. But really, Arthur Gies of all people? Especially when the conference is loaded with actual games when I haven't seen anything from Nintendo to actually get me on board with them again?

I don't understand what you're trying to say. We are on NeoGAF and I'd bet that the majority own mutiple platforms. The talk about having games releasing soon and not years away, but if you want to make it about exclusives, I'm sure you can find the info easily.
I don't want to waste my time making a list either.

Oh I know. I was just making the point that you cant please everyone. Its obvious that they listened to complaints from other conferences in the past and its obvious they constructed this conference to address those complaints. Now its complaints about adressing complaints.

The Last Guardian - still magical, could potentially end up being one of my favorite games ever.
Death Stranding - wtf. terrible name for a game but i enjoy weird shit so i'm in.
Detroit - playing as an android making tough choices.. i dig it. doesn't have to be perfectly written or voice acted, i thought Heavy Rain was a great experience so i will most likely enjoy this too.
FFXV - looks fun imo. feeling really nostalgic about this game, cant help it. it seems to capture at least some of the magic from the earlier games that i loved.. i'm willing to forgive the embarrassing character designs, technical problems and whatnot, if i can just feel like im exploring a huge FF world with a beautiful soundtrack and all the nostalgic stuff with chocobos and blizzagas and shit.
Days Gone - imo fucking amazing. THIS is the type of zombie game i've been waiting for (the genre isnt played out to me because i've skipped almost every zombie game so far heh). open-world, serious tense tone, shitloads of realistically animated zombies chasing you everywhere.. i'm excited to finally experience a zombie game made for my tastes! unless they downgrade those animations. thats not a thing right, downgraded animations..?
a lot of other things were impressive as well. Star Wars VR definitely interests me, but i fear it will be a really short experience. new COD looked surprisingly awesome, at least all the shit happening around you. not sure if i care about COD gameplay at this point. GOW and Horizon looked nice i guess, but i'm not really feeling them.. GOW isn't my thing and Horizon's setting seems "off" to me, something doesnt click with me. also the main character would not shut the fuck up, sheesh.. no one needs that much commentary about every little action.

I just can't agree. They had good hardware announcements but hardware is nothing without the games and man those games at Sony's conference were great. Microsoft's were solid just not to that level, I feel.

75% of what Sony showed I want to try. Of the rest only Battlefield 1 and Mafia 3 interested me.
This years E3 is looking fantastic.
edit: and BTW that was the first CoD trailer that I enjoyed. I thought it would be shite after their announcement trailer but I'm strapping in to that space ship this time.

Hey there bud, I can prop up and tear down as I see fit even though I don't feel that's what I was doing. I was simply saying that the tone of the conferences were completely different, with Sony's feeling much more confident and promising great looking games while MS had a cringe worthy show that had no momentum and ended with the promise of a better console in a year and a half.
If you feel satisfied with that then fine by I felt really let down by the overall presentation. No one is saying MS didn't have games, but Sony's are the ones that got me really excited.

I'm personally indifferent to it, outside of the possibility of games getting cancelled or completely reimagined. I just know that it has been a common complaint on here with MS's previous E3 shows.
I'm glad they didn't waste time on that, I want to know what I'm gonna be playing on the console i already own

Such a fucking great conference - I want to play/buy every game they showed off (minus Skylanders). This is how every company should do it, with no bullshit interruptions and talks in-between games and just straight trailer after trailer.
Show us games that we know are coming, games that we want, games that we have literally no idea are in existence. This was amazing through and through and I loved it.
And Zelda Wii U is tomorrow? Holy fuck. This made up for the complete lackluster conferences from EA, Ubisoft, Bethesda, PC Gaming, and Microsoft by miles.

Speaking as a PS4 owner, with the exception of Kojima being finally released from his cage, nothing appealed to my personal tastes and the whole thing felt a little...off.
Horizon ZD looks too much like a paint by numbers Ubisoft open world game for me to trust it.
I didn't enjoy Team Ico's past games so I'm not interested in Last Guardian.
I've never cared for GOW's genre.
Days Gone looks incredibly generic.
I don't have any nostalgic stakes in Crash.
Though I enjoy the genre they work in, Quantic Dream takes their work waaaay too seriously and Detroit looked pretty cringey as a result.
EDIT: Revisiting it, Spider Man looks okay.
Having messed around with VR, I'm very tepid on its current capabilities beyond gimmickry and was very lukewarm on that whole conference segment.
I was expecting Red Dead from the very fervent rumormill and was accordingly bummed when it didn't materialize.
COD is COD is COD. /shrug
The lack of indies was puzzling.
Finally, the pacing was weird. It ended at an odd time and felt like something got cut at the last minute and they had to reshuffle everything.
Hence, I found it pretty subpar overall.
