Breath of the Wild is the official subtitle for Zelda U/NX, first gameplay trailer

Some of you guys are so weird. Like it looks incredible. Also it's on Wii U i don't know why the expectations of the graphics were so high.

I don't think it's an expectations thing, people knew the WiiU would hold it back. I think people are just tired of Nintendo games being several years behind the curve in visual fidelity. You may recall similar complaints about Twilight Princess.

Ok I'm pretty sure Link's female this time :)

That shadowing doesn't mean anything. Link is male. He's not an avatar.

So one interesting thing is the story cutscene they tried to cut out of the trailer:

Link approaches a pedestal with a slot for the book thing he has. He is startled by a light flashing from Hyrule Castle in the distance.

This purple demon guy swirls around Hyrule Castle.

Link looks on in shock. Wearing white shirt. Already has bow, sword, and shiekah book

Interesting observations!

It'll be 30. At least on Wii U, most likely NX too. There aren't any 3D Zeldas in 60FPS.
Wind Waker is 60fps on Wii U. Not sure why what we have seen here seems impossible in 60fps on Wii U ? I mean, look at Bayonetta 2. Much more going on on screen, and still 60fps.

It's been a long wait but I have to say even now I'm impressed. I've long since sold my Wii U, but I will be around for when Breath of the Wild releases on the NX, hopefully as a launch title with improved fidelity! The voice acting in the game is a great sign, even if some die hard Zelda fans might cringe at the idea (for some reason). The ability to travel around the world freely, even freely scaling mountains, looks great. The world is beautiful, if a bit cartoonish to suit its hardware (which is perfectly fine with me). The ability to LITERALLY manipulate your environment to solve puzzles, travel, and defeat enemies is brillia--wait woah Woah WOAH!!!!

Is that Link in a suit of Armor!?

DAY ONE

Worried about this game becoming a huge grind open world game. Not for me if so, I want a streamlined and shorter experience, the last few Zeldas have been to much of a time sink for me.

This is my main issue with it. It just doesn't look like an interesting enough world. Time will tell but very disappointed so far.
Agreed, that looked like a greener Mad Max or something -- and Reggie emphasizing how big the world is sounds more like a threat than anything else. But they've still got a year or so to improve things, I guess.

No it's not.

And people once again are falling for a photoshop of Link.

Wait... I saw this subtitle mentioned in a stream yesterday by some random. Was it leaked for long? As for the trailer, it looks nice. I'm not much of a Zelda guy but I'm glad they're at least trying something different. Even if I'm not too big on open world stuff either, I'm glad to see it.

RIP naming Link.

Have to say, this is refreshing. They clearly followed through on the promise - this looks like a new type of Zelda experience.

It's a shame the tech is so notably out of date, but hopefully the NX version will be a bit more impressive.

Still, despite old tech, beautiful game artistically and musically so far.

I don't know what people were expecting out of a WiiU game. The arstyle and what they manage with it are great. Still REALLY skeptical about the gameplay tho. All I got was that there are patches of important landmarks and you can interact with the environment, everything else was whole bunch of nothing. I don't want to play chew scenery the game, aka twilight princess on steroids. Hoping they clear up dungeon mechanics when they get back to it

No, wind Waker was still 30 on Wii U. Bayo 2 was not stable at all and the areas were much smaller than what we are seeing here.

Seems like it's to make going from A to B better. Bit like on a horse it drives itself you don't get stuck.

Think Elder Scrolls without mountain surfing attempts!

I just hope it doesn't mean we're staring a wall for a minute waiting for Link to friggin' climb a mountainside. I feel like that'd be cool the first few times, but after awhile traversal will lose its novelty. That's probably more of a personal preference though, since I'm never really a big fan of open world traversal.

The trailer did its job in showing what kind of stuff we can do in the game outside of exploring dungeons. However I'm waiting for the stream to show more in-depth gameplay and impressions from people there. I'm optimistic despite being a little underwhelmed by the trailer.

Yeah, same here. What I'm really interested in is how the dungeons will be set up and more details on the combat (seems to have a counter system?).

WAIT

Subtitle is Breath of the Wild

We're gonna call it Zelda:BOW. Get it?
I didn't even realize the cleaver callout.

Wind Waker was 30fps on Wii U and also in the original GameCube version. You're thinking of Ocarina of Time from its original 15-24fps to its upgraded 30fps when it got ported over to the 3DS.

Got me excited, though visuals looked a lot more dated than I hoped they would based on footage released up to this point.

Looked really washed out too (and I watched the YouTube trailer in the first page).
