They just confirmed in an interview that the game will have no towns. They clarified that it's a Hyrule in ruins and they took direct inspiration from the world of the NES LOZ. They did confirm that there will be a handful of stray NPCs throughout the world but no towns or villages in the traditional sense. Also, they claimed that link will not have any kind of partner and will be exploring alone for the entire game.
Agree with you.I love the idea of Hyrule in ruins like the original, so I'm perfectly fine with no towns.
I'll wait before passing judgment on no towns.
If it fits the story, I'm find

I'm guessing they're replaced by the gems they've been mining/finding in chests.

Breaking the conventions, he said x)No towns ??? Wtf is that ?!
Interesting, I can cope with that, but I noticed or thought I noticed building construction and crafting in the opening clip... Anyone have a gif of that? If we've got any of that, and you can build your own house I'd be happy. They just confirmed in an interview that the game will have no towns. I'm not so much upset as seriously shocked, I was really expecting big guns.. I've been hoping that the NX will entice me in and be my first Nintendo console since the GameCube but this is just not good enough, the industry has moved waaaay way beyond this, it's frankly a little embarassing...
Who needs towns when you have the beauty of the natural landscape?

Well people wanted the game to be Super Exploration like NES Zelda...
...now they complain that there ain't towns...like NES Zelda.
A post-apocalyptic Hyrule where you are given the weighty task of restoring the land to glory - with no support or civilized safe havens to find shelter in. Sounds isolating and epic in the best way possible. They just confirmed in an interview that the game will have no towns. It's not like the towns in previous Zelda games were anything worthwhile anyway. If they actually push the solitary exploration/survival angle, that's more than a good enough replacement. I'm just not convinced yet that they can do that.
I don't know why people are upset about this. Gimme that isolation <3

Love this photo.Show floor looks nice.

Don't mind this at all. I really prefer this kind of desolate, lone adventure rather than a bunch of towns with NPCs bothering you with fetch quests.

That's false. That's what it looks like. I'm cool with that, but still.
No Rupees in a Zelda is just...
