Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 2016 Thread [*LIVE*] (No childish commentary allowed)

They just confirmed in an interview that the game will have no towns. They clarified that it's a Hyrule in ruins and they took direct inspiration from the world of the NES LOZ. They did confirm that there will be a handful of stray NPCs throughout the world but no towns or villages in the traditional sense. Also, they claimed that link will not have any kind of partner and will be exploring alone for the entire game.

cool. no towns doesn't bother me one bit

Not liking what I'm seeing and hearing about no towns :( Reminding me a lot of Xenoblade X where I much prefer games like Xenoblade Chronicles.

Really hoping my fears are unfound and this turns out to be an incredible game.
Xenoblade X had New LA.

A Zelda with no towns at all makes me super sad

There's no real towns in the first Zelda or in Dark Souls. Still, very disappointing for me as a fan of Majora's Mask and Kakariko Village.

Towns should have been in

Where is zelda in then? Alone in a destroyed castle?
There always needs to be a hyrule castle with people in the game

Oh well

I'm not so much upset as seriously shocked, I was really expecting big guns.. I've been hoping that the NX will entice me in and be my first Nintendo console since the GameCube but this is just not good enough, the industry has moved waaaay way beyond this, it's frankly a little embarassing...

this is a wiiu game dude. why would you judge the NX on this?

Damn, it's pretty much a Zelda 1 remake then.

this is amazing, returning to the roots, pure exploration, no guide, goa nd explore the whole field, try to find secrets, so freaking good

Aw really? I have been cleaning so haven't been able to pay full attention. Did they really say no towns? That is a major disappointment to me.

Excellent. Bring back that Zelda 1 style isolation.

I am absolutely fine with this.

They are really going for it.

Don't mind this at all. I really prefer this kind of desolate, lone adventure rather than a bunch of towns with NPCs bothering you with fetch quests.

Lots of good stuff so far but no towns is a MASSIVE downer for me.

That and putting wolf link, a genuine game-changer, behind an Amiibo. That's not cool.

Went from hyped to conflicted :/

Is this true? That absolutely sucks. There was also the rumour of only 4 dungeons too.

I am not liking what I'm hearing about this game at all. One of the great things about previous Zelda games was coming across a brand new unique area and interacting with NPC's, taking part in mini-games and side-quests before you set off on a dungeon.

I don't want a Zelda game where you basically just roam an overworld that is mostly barren with a few monsters here and there.

I never cared about npcs, mini games or side quests in games. But seems like this game is still not for me, too open ended for my liking. Exploration is cool, but just like in X, it isnt enough for me.

It's not like the towns in previous Zelda games were anything worthwhile anyway. If they actually push the solitary exploration/survival angle, that's more than a good enough replacement. I'm just not convinced yet that they can do that.

This just keeps getting better, and better for me.

Wh-what? That's so upsetting. People have always wanted MORE towns, not zero instead of one.

If that's the case is there a reason they're no voiced?

Idk maybe there'll be enough NPCs that we don't need a town... idk...

I spent like half my time on Windfall Island for Wind Waker, just talking to different people and trying out the different sidequests.

so disappointing

First Zelda in a while that I'm actually hyped for. Looks great. Love the art style. Not a huge fan of the weapons mechanic because I don't like managing inventories, but I can live with it.
