Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 2016 Thread [*LIVE*] (No childish commentary allowed)

So where do you guys think this game takes place in the timeline? I'm guessing either long after Twilight Princess or long after Zelda 2

Well remember this game has a story, so if you get tired of dungeoning/shrining or whatever you can go move forward in the story, this takes a ton of ques from xenoblade
I mean that what I've seen so far is that there is stuff in the open world but not what I want that stuff for. Economy and town life information could be reassuring in that regard. They are half way to quieting my open world fears in this regard but without the other half it'll have little staying power.

Beyond that: I don't want to play Zelda primarily to fill out the map with bite-sized shrines, and talk of four dungeons is discouraging. It'd cut into my enjoyment of the game majorly if what it offers comes at the expense of dungeons. So here's to hoping the rumor is false so I can finally be excited about this game.

Anyone else bothered by the fact that treasure chests don't seem to open all the way?

Ok "a GameCube game" is a bit harsh and nowhere near accurate but in 2016 this is not exactly pushing any envelopes. Its not "ugly" but it looks... dated.

I'm just hoping the world is more dense than it appears, with lots of unique locations and reasons to explore them. From what I've seen it looks like a lot of open (and empty) world.

Have they shown towns or anything?

It's a Wii u game, dude.

And they've said this is 1% of the game I the demo, there's going to be a lot more variety and unique locations. Use your imagination a bit, they're not going to show everything today.

They just confirmed in an interview that the game will have no towns. They clarified that it's a Hyrule in ruins and they took direct inspiration from the world of the NES LOZ. They did confirm that there will be a handful of stray NPCs throughout the world but no towns or villages in the traditional sense. Also, they claimed that link will not have any kind of partner and will be exploring alone for the entire game.

As the minutes pass and it sinks in I get more and more upset. Thanks for typing all that out for me.

All those years, for this. All that confidence, for this. This game probably won't make my top 10 of e3. Really surprisingly upset here.

I'm not so much upset as seriously shocked, I was really expecting big guns.. I've been hoping that the NX will entice me in and be my first Nintendo console since the GameCube but this is just not good enough, the industry has moved waaaay way beyond this, it's frankly a little embarassing...

Seems to be after Wind Waker. There was an enemy exclusive to Wind Waker shown early in the stream and it showed the Temple of Time in a barren area.

Considering the game has Koroks and Hyrule looks to be a huge field of ruins, I think it's way in the future after Spirit Tracks, showing Hyrule after the oceans dried up enough to expose the land again.

I feel you, if you go back and look, this has consistently been in my top 10 (usually on the top 3 spots) in my most anticipated titles, for the last 3 years at least.

Now i'm not even sure i'd put it in my top 10 of E3.

This is the Zelda I've been dreaming of ever since the first trailers of TP fooled me into believing it would be wise open, with large forests to explore and shit. Finally that game is here, and I'll be buying an NX for it (after skipping the U).

That's kind of sad..

What about Hyrule Castle?

Man people have such a limited imagination. If they don't explain to you exactly what's in the game some people just assume the demo of one tiny starter area is going to be the whole game.

That doesn't mean there's no cave full of survivors somewhere.

This looks extremely weak honestly, I really do not see it winning over any new fans or regaining lost ones like myself. If you guys enjoy it then that's great but from everything shown so far there is little to nothing you could say is objectively great about this game that isn't already present to the same or better degree in even mediocre open world offerings elsewhere. Maybe it seems incredible if you're in a Nintendo microcosm circa 2008?

Can you name the games that do all this? I haven't played the Witcher games but I've sampled everything else and have a PS3 & XB1.

No desire to buy Amiibo. Wonder if you have to have done/saved the content gated behind it in TP:Remaster to get Wolf Link Buddy or if you can just use a fresh one.
