Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 2016 Thread [*LIVE*] (No childish commentary allowed)

I'm really honestly not sure what you wanted.

Fortunately I made a thread about my expectations so I'll be able to go back to it but all I can tell you is that this is what I feared we'd get rather than what I hoped we'd get.

Edit No towns?!? Oh fuck this...

I don't mind that they aren't sharing any story, but their idea of just running around the world and "creating chaos/trouble" to show of features feels incredibly dull. The overworld is so ridiculously spare and underpopulated that you can't get into any epic showdowns or chases like you would in a GTA or Watch Dogs. Their idea of creating chaos is like, throwing a bomb at a hut of Mokoblins, or clunkily getting into a fight with a couple of them sitting on a hill.

This is the Zelda I've been dreaming of ever since the first trailers of TP fooled me into believing it would be wise open, with large forests to explore and shit. Finally that game is here, and I'll be buying an NX for it (after skipping the U).

This is the Zelda that my 6yr old mind imagined after playing the first game (and watching the cartoon)

This is a very cool use of Wolf Link. It's a weird time paradox type thing but still cool. No reason Link shouldn't be without an animal companion even though it's a version of himself. So glad I got mine with Twilight Princess. I thought it was going to be sold separately at some point.

Considering the game has Koroks and Hyrule looks to be a huge field of ruins, I think it's way in the future after Spirit Tracks, showing Hyrule after the oceans dried up enough to expose the land again.

Seems to be after Wind Waker. There was an enemy exclusive to Wind Waker shown early in the stream and it showed the Temple of Time in a barren area.

Oh, alright. Cool, that makes sense then. I'm pretty far behind so I had not seen any of that yet.

So where do you guys think this game takes place in the timeline? I'm guessing either long after Twilight Princess or long after Zelda 2

I believe is after spirit tracks...way after spirit tracks, when they decide to go back to explore the land of hyrule, now with no water, since it became a desolated land

I haven't seen much (came into the stream late) but from what I've seen this looks amazing. Love all the attention they're giving to combat, and love how much you can interact with the world.

The only thing I feel underwhelmed about is those shrines, only for how short and easy they look. Other than that I'm a happy Zelda fan.
Please have more than four dungeons.

I've just realised that the intro showed water draining off Link in the chamber, could be foreshadowing, or just a standard 'stasis tube' type effect.

They just confirmed in an interview that the game will have no towns. They clarified that it's a Hyrule in ruins and they took direct inspiration from the world of the NES LOZ. They did confirm that there will be a handful of stray NPCs throughout the world but no towns or villages in the traditional sense. Also, they claimed that link will not have any kind of partner and will be exploring alone for the entire game.

So an empty barren open world game.

Great

Don't like this. At all.

This is one tough pill to swallow.

Is this true? That absolutely sucks. There was also the rumour of only 4 dungeons too.

I am not liking what I'm hearing about this game at all. One of the great things about previous Zelda games was coming across a brand new unique area and interacting with NPC's, taking part in mini-games and side-quests before you set off on a dungeon.

I don't want a Zelda game where you basically just roam an overworld that is mostly barren with a few monsters here and there.

Wh-what? That's so upsetting. People have always wanted MORE towns, not zero instead of one.

If that's the case is there a reason they're no voiced?

Idk maybe there'll be enough NPCs that we don't need a town... idk...

No towns is a bit of a bummer. Hopefully they still have lots of stray characters around. Love the eccentric npcs in past games.

I am perfectly OK with this. Doesn't need towns in this story.

Just catching the tail end of this....but that's officially amazing news. Can't wait to watch the footage later.

Oh no I'm liking this Amiibo integration less and less.

Hearts based on content from TP:Remastered.
When wolf link is KO'd you have to wait 24 hours before you can call him again.

Bad, and disappointing.

People wanted the ability to go anywhere and everywhere from the start which is exactly how NES Zelda was. Buuuut I don't think people wanted towns/villages to be gone at the expense of it...

But me, personally? I'm EXCITED. This is what I wanted!

So nothing but wilderness and ruins? That kind of sucks. I want my Zelda towns. SS was disappointing to me partly because of the lack of that. Oh well, still looks very cool.

That seems to be the mantra of Nintendo fans lately.

I grew up with Nintendo and Zelda, I have been ready to get another Nintendo console since the GCN which may be my favourite console of all time.

This looks extremely weak honestly, I really do not see it winning over any new fans or regaining lost ones like myself. If you guys enjoy it then that's great but from everything shown so far there is little to nothing you could say is objectively great about this game that isn't already present to the same or better degree in even mediocre open world offerings elsewhere. Maybe it seems incredible if you're in a Nintendo microcosm circa 2008?

Honestly not trying to troll and not a Nintendo hater at all, I just see nothing impressive here at all. If this was Ubisoft revealing a Wii U exclusive new IP I have a strong feeling you guys would be tearing it apart.

Not trying to disrespect you or anything. I can understand why you don't like the game but I don't really see what you were expecting that makes this such a huge disappointment.

Also I think it'd be dope if more people made Zelda clones. No one really tries to copy the things I like about 3D Zelda so it'd be cool imo.

Interesting. They are really going for that solitary exploration/no support angle. No companions, no townsfolk, no familial connections. A boy (and maybe his wolf) and that's it.

No. NO.
Hype deflated :(

Not liking what I'm seeing and hearing about no towns :( Reminding me a lot of Xenoblade X whereas I much prefer games like Xenoblade Chronicles.

Really hoping my fears are unfound and this turns out to be an incredible game for me.
