Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the most talked about game on social media

I agree that it was the worst possible way to show off the game. I hated it. I loved what Sony did at their conference, by contrast.

I'm having trouble working out how much of my disappointment with Zelda is purely due to the hamfisted way it was presented and how much is because of issues with the game itself.

yeah the developers themselves talking about their game is the worst way to present games, id rather have some random dude in front of a lot of people in a theater "playing" the game

That's because they devoted a whole freaking presentation/conference and booth to it. Imagine Sony devoted all resources to Uncharted and Microsoft to Halo.

*Xbox/PS game is the most viewed and searched*

Gaf: "Makes sense! We have all been waiting for this! I mean, look at that games is great!"

*Wii U games is the most viewed and searched*

Gaf: "Ugh! Fucking Nintendo. There most be an error in the matrix. I mean, why is Nintendo always given a chance while others are always bashed?! The game is not even a game, its just a game with a character and in a console which is not a game. Ugh!"

C'mon people! Just accept that more people are interested on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I want to play Horizon and Final Fantasy XV. But we have also already seen them before, TLoZ for Wii U came with a blow out on this E3. Lot's to talk about Zelda, therefore a lot more of attention and threads and talk and discussion.

That said. I really want to know how this game will look on the NX.

Horizon looked fucking awesome, I don't see how that's even a debate.

But Zelda has a built-in passionate fan base, and Aonuma delivered with a ton of clever design elements that made for a lot of GIF-able moments.

Also, congrats on the 17th place finish, MS first party development.

I can already tell the two games aren't going to play the same. On the outside, they have a lot in common, but Zelda will still have it's style of Dungeons and puzzle solving. I don't see Horizon doing that style of Dungeon play and see it doing more of exploring ruins and caves over tons of puzzles to solve. Their item selection and combat look different as well and thus far we haven't seen a lot of enemy types from either. They are also going for two COMPLETELY different themes for their worlds with Horizon going more of a wilderness with machines type world and Zelda going for a post-apocalyptic desolate but colorful world.

Watching the trailer, I was holding back tears of joy. I can't remember the last time I've felt that way seeing an upcoming game. It's so surreal to me, so I genuinely feel sorry for you. It's one thing to sit there and say "I'm not getting the hype", but it seems like you're really REALLY reaching JUST to spite people who are happy. Why can't you just shrug it off and look forward to the games YOU like?

Bit surprised to see watch dog 2 that high up. Was quite disappointed in the first one in the end and did not finish it. haven't even watched the trailer for the second one. maybe I should

And we even didn't saw everything in that stream, about the tutorial area, just like the firerod.

There're so many things that Treehouse intentionaly skipped but fortunaly some journalisms were able to play and showed us more about the first zone.

nnnnnn drag

all those scatological references though. Ew.

The Zelda demonstration made me feel like I was actually seeing something in-depth. Actual sit down time with the game. If you didn't want to see repeated information, you could watch the trailer and some of the live stream. I have no fucking idea how people are possibly taking this and warping it into some kind of negative. Nobody forced anyone to watch the entire thing, and different people catch things at different times. You watch it, you see enough of it, they start showing the same stuff-- move on with your life. It's literally that simple. And not everything was the same thing, they frequently showed new features and tested stuff out.

The response has been largely positive, but it seems like some people are hellbent on crashing the party with some of the most inept complaints I've seen in quite a while. I get it. Nintendo hasn't been in peak condition lately, but they're in this spot where they're preparing something new and there are frustrations to be had with the company. But what they did here is a good thing.

This is really cool and totally desserved. The new Zelda looks amazing beyond words. It might not have the most impressive graphics but it's what you can do in that world what is important. The buzz is finally there so if Nintendo keeps going strong with this Zelda, NX could have a succesful launch.

They should have done a streamlined Zelda Nintendo DIrect first and THEN go to Treehouse.

I don't really know how much difference this would have made. I didn't see the Direct (unfortunately woke up late), but when I got up I just watched the trailer and then watched some of the stream. I checked back on the stream periodically and kept seeing new stuff. I'm just not sure what the big deal is, let alone "fuck Nintendo fuck Treehouse" comments. It just seems incredibly bizarre, like they committed a sin or something by showing a videogame.

It's no secret that some had already made up their minds that this game was going to be absolutely terrible, regardless of what they saw.

Yeah, totally agree with this. It's like watching a Let's Play and if you watch enough you can pick up stuff here and there instead of having a laser focused demo where you highlight a bunch of parts and it's short, percise, and sweet.

Instead it's a whole lot of wandering around and oh hey this is going to be cool watch this... oh hey let me repeat this again and again.

Because the trailer can't do the demo's job and vice versa... Nintendo fans a touchy bunch aren't they...

I think part of it at least is that it took a lot of people by surprise. I was definitely surprised at how well it showed. It was far greater than I thought it would be.

holy shit why does it bother you so much that people like something you don't

Because he clearly has superior taste than us. He's trying to teach us better.

It's amazing how after the Sony press conference, a lot of posters are passing around this narrative that devs talking about their games is somehow bad now.

Because some guy sitting on a stage playing a game is the only way to truly demo a game.

Zelda and Horizon are both looking really similar to me (but I know I'll probably finish Zelda and give up on Horizon because its too deep/complex for my taste). Still, I'm surprised Horizon is so far down on that list.

Actual gameplay where actual people play them freely are much more truthful and revealing than pre-planned and edited presentations. Sure they are shorter and more entertaining, but the developers can easily hide not se great parts of the game this way. Cool that you prefer the approach that doesn't serve the consumer.

I agree the Treehouse presentation wasn't the best way to handle it, if only because they had to hold so much back. It was enough for me to go "Yeah, this game looks cool and I want it," but I can see others needing more convincing.

I think it was like trying to demo Metal Gear Solid V by just showing off Africa without any context and not going near the oil refinery or airport.

Horizon had a new trailer last week, is a new ip, and wasn't shown for hours. It's not too surprising. Meanwhile Zelda has a large established fan base and is one of the biggest gaming franchises period that is changing things up significantly and in an exciting way.

not only that, what the other developers showed was probably vertical slices done specifically for the E3 and may or may not be on the final game.
