I find it better because at g rank oneshots become way more real and just having high means moe players wont get disenfranchised.

Why does everyone want to see Dragon Quest VII so badly when it's already out in Japan? The only thing you'll see here that you couldn't already find online is English (although maybe people are looking forward to seeing that).

Maybe because most people here don't speak Japanese and would like to actually enjoy the game in a non-cumbersome way in their own native tongue? Plus any DQ release in the west is good for RPG fans and the series itself.

The way I understood it is that there's effectively High Rank EX missions you can unlock that put monsters at practically G-levels of health and damage

Freedom Unite is seriously archaic at this point, even compared to 3U, let alone 4U or Generations. They improved a LOT from second-gen.

I bought Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii when it shipped with the Classic Controller Pro. I played a bit of it but it never grabbed me.

I bought Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate for the Wii U. I played a bit of it again but it still was very slow to start and I lost interest before long. Aren't the servers down now? That may hamper trying to get into it someday.

I bought Monster Hunter 4 at launch because of a Best Buy promo but it's never left its shrinkwrap. I feel so bad because I keep trying to get into this series but I'm always ending up with nothing.

I don't think he shares Peco's most dickish trait, but they make up for it with how big the range is on his sweeping attacks.

I tried it when the series was on PSP and it didn't jive with me. I thought hard about trying 4, and it grabbed me. I still don't care for the online interface stuff, but the solo gameplay is great.

I'm honestly not clear on the details. Are those just the variants or whatever?

Honestly at this point I've played enough that high rank is pretty trivial. G rank is definitely where it's at.
