Giant Bomb @ E3 2016 | WEED3

I love it when Phil mentioned how people are telling him how they will never have to buy an xbox now that they can just get it on windows 10. Acting as if they somehow subverted the system.

MS is letting more people play games more ways. Thats something that this industry still has an incredibly hard time doing for some reason. These are the types of changes we need in the industry, and quite honestly, its crazy to think that MS is the one leading these changes right now given where they were a few years ago.

So, I work on the Store, but Phil is completely right - if we never released first-party games exclusively on the Store, then we wouldn't have learned nearly as much as we have. Steam releases would have meant much lower volume on the Store. Lower volume on the Store would've meant much less traction with customers, and much less ability for us to debug issues and improve things.

I recognize the sentiment, and the need to grow the Windows Store when you look at something like RotTR's comparison of 90% (and whether or not its true, to be fair), but at the same time, I don't know how the store can be 'proven' to be better at this point in time without some hugely significant revision.

I'm just PS4 so far this gen, or whatever the hell you'd call it, but I think Microsoft has done a great job of correcting their course. I may have to get an S or wait and get a Scorpio if I get a 4K tv.

Phil is sort of a masterful PR guy. Agree with the question and very accurately address the point, but use it as a segway to answer a question they didn't ask. Both Jeff and Brad wanted to ask about how far they'd force developers to target both platforms, but both times Phil answered a different question without seeming like he was being defensive or condescending.

And Jeff is pretty slick with his questions, too. He'll ask hard questions, but instead of launching them at the interviewee with no buffer he softens them with a positive comment or two. It makes the interviewee feel like they're in safe hands, and not like they're going to be exploited for an out-of-context pull quote.

Just good stuff all around.

Is it really true that there are more Xbox ones sold at this point after release than 360's?

Because that's a pretty cray stat.

Who's the guy with the backward baseball cap on the laptop next to Rorie? He's been there since the beginning but I don't recognize him.

Our success with Forza Apex and Killer Instinct has in particular proven this - they were successful for customers, and successful for us in terms of volume and our ability to find and fix issues more quickly.

Even though we already had a massive amount of improvements in the works for the Anniversary Update coming this Summary, those improvements would've been much less effective without what we learned about releasing the games we did release on the Store so far.

In the meantime, absolutely no one is oblivious to the issues we have with the current iteration in the Store. Especially Phil - he's just as genuine and knowledgeable in person as he is in interviews.

That makes sense.

I hope you guys look into more payment options for different countries. The game pricing for MS's store games in Brazil is really high and there aren't many payment options like Steam offers. I think that's really important.

Phil is always great. Yes, the Windows 10 store sucks. You know what else sucked real bad when it started? Steam. Having to buy HL2 through that pissed a lot of people off. Now look at it. They will get it figured out.
