E3 2016s "Cringe" Moments

Yeah, it has maintained a pretty stable level popularity as a racial slur, especially in the US:

I actually think that the shifting of the word only happens because of SP, as it seems.
At least everywhere, except the states.
I never had the other correlation, thanks for sharing!

Basically "no one talks like that in real life" = "fake/scripted". Can't be real! They look like they're having fun for heaven's sake!

Honestly, I don't know why anyone thought Sea of Thieves was scripted. They felt like genuine reactions to me from the start, especially compared to garbage demos like Wildlands.

Is that Morgan Webb? I didn't even know she was still involved in the industry.

Also reminds me that Sessler is gone :(

This was hilarious. The look on the dude's face after was priceless.

What's with that Morgan Webb chick? Where did she go? She still working in the industry or has she graduated to porn yet? :)

You are a terrible person and I don't like your comments on the internet. She is a very nice person and a true gamer. Your sexist bullshit is tired and you aren't funny.

First a definition:
Coon - An insulting name for a black person. Similar to 'Nigger'.

Cool? Now let's watch the developer introduce the game: https://youtu.be/RVt25bOM6eM?t=3224

I think it's meant to be tongue in cheek in that it's making fun of the innocence of children (remember, The Coon AKA Cartman is an 8 year old). Cartman named his super hero self The Coon because he's dressed like a raccoon, kinda like Batman dresses like a bat. What he doesn't realize is that the word "coon" is a racial slur.

South Park has done this before, when the boys (and Wendy) decided to start a boy band; the song they would sing was called "Finger Bang". The kids thought of the title to mean the hand-gun gesture, but us adults know what finger banging really means.

I'll even use myself as an example. When I was around 10, I wanted a cool nickname (my real name is Chris). So I decided to tell everyone to call me "C-Man" (fucking cringe >.<). So whenever someone would ask for my name, I'd tell them "C-Man". Several people would laugh at me, and I had know idea why until I learned what semen was. The way I'd say C-Man sounded like I was calling myself semen. I get embarrassed just thinking about it. But I was 10.

Anyways, yeah, the whole "Coon" thing, it's meant to be a joke about the naivety of children.

Uhhhh Cartman is a pretty notorious racist in the show. At this point, the joke is old and not funny anymore.

When everyone cheered for crash remakes and then complete silence when skylanders was announced. Every time I watch a crash bandicoot video about e3 I have to skip the audience reaction.

Is it really so bad?

> Animal based superheroes are extremely common
> Racist character dubs himself a racial slur with a superhero identity that has nothing to do with race.

As for the joke being old, they wanted to go with superheroes. How could they not use the coon?

The same fucking way the could've not called their fake social networking site "coonstagram"?

Yeah, it's pretty fucking lame...

I don't think you get South Park. It's satire, tongue in cheek, a joke. It's been their brand of humor for 20 years.

So by being a joke, it's unable to be criticized? Give me a break. Not all comedy ages well.

Are you actually uncomfortable because they use coon or are you drumming it up as a controversy because you want it to be one?
