Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron for "less meat, less heat"

I glaze over when wealthy celebrities make pronouncements about how everybody should eat. It's a lot easier if you have a team of professionals buying your groceries and cooking for you and you can eat at the best restaurants whenever you want.

i think a reduction in consumption of RED meat would go a long way in lowering a lot of issues (economic, agricultural, health wise).

and if not less consumption, at least more VARIETY in food sources would be highly beneficial

Yeah, this is a big part of the problem for us average wage consumers...whenever I want to look at healthier alternatives for food in the stores, they're always so much more expensive that it's just harder to consistently afford that stuff. It's fucking bull shit, and it sucks, but I can't seem to do anything about it.

Did he said "...in accordance to the guidelines being published by the Chinese government" in 0:30?

edit: oh this is for the Chinese government I see.

He already got his swole. What about the rest of us who ain't there yet. We need that meat!

Er no you don't.
This is an old and outdated belief.
Just looking on the net there are a huge amount of plant based athletes who are muscular and extremely fit without consuming meat.
I'm not preaching in any way. If you want to eat meat, then fine but it is far from essential to meet your "gettin swole" goals!

Watch Cowspiracy people!

I can see the issues initially with instilling change in eating habits but I don't see how that's relevant here. This is not a transformative ask.

"If they tell you to eat more meat to get strong, don't buy it?" ....Tell us how you got those guns then?

Side note. This is probably the plot of Avatar 2.

This. Red meat isn't necessary.

I could watch a James Cameron directed movie where in a post apocalyptic future Ahnuld is the only man who can save the planet from the RED MEAT!

1. Those green screen footage better become something awesome.

2. Cameron sucking up to China cause he wants that Avatar money to exponentially grow in China.

The Avatar sequel is probably going to obscene amounts of Chinese money, Avatar made $200 million back when China's theater count was just a fraction of what it is today.

Don't drink milk and seldom eat red meat.

Don't think I could completely give up meat. I would like to reduce my consumption but fuck is it tasty.

Pretty much the same here. Coconut milk/almond milk and a lot of chicken. Although with red meat, I eat it about 2-3 times out of a seven day week.

Can't quit chicken though.

Really if we want to be eating an animal as a major source of protein it shouldn't be cows or chickens or anything we normally eat in the West but insects. Crickets, meal worms, etc. tend to have far more protein than, less fat and so on. They are also far easy to raise, ship, and process and you most people won't feel bad for eating them because they're not cute mammals. They also have far less of an environmental impact compared to the artificial lakes of pig shit around major hog farms and the amount of methane farted out by cows and the huge amount of farmland

Nope, not going to happen.

Insects in general tend to have too much sodium/too much bad fats depending on the insect and too little protein overall. The "we should eat insects" thing is a myth. I thought it would be super cool to mainly eat bugs but I looked it up and was horribly disappointed because they're awful for you.

But they're icky. Horrible-looking, disease-carrying* bugs eww eww eww.

There's no fucking way you'll get most people today (including myself, sadly) to stomach eating mealworms and the like. So even though you're right (or may not be, if the above post is correct), it doesn't matter, since humans are naturally averse to consuming ugly, foul-smelling things*. Sorry.

*Yes, I know that isn't true, but that's how most people think.

It might be more efficient to get your gains eating meat protein versus plant based, but I haven't looked into it either way. But I was being slightly sarcastic. Hey if they start selling lab created meat to the public id eat it over meat from slaughtered animals for sure.

To be fair, in a time when I was deathly depressed, dirt poor, and never had any 'real' time to cook, I still found a way to not eat meat.

It's not exactly super hard *shrug*

I don't mind eating insects if it is processed to look and taste like whey protein. Problem is, I eat my whey with milk or yogurt so we still need cows.

Edit: It's China so ignore whatever China wants anyways! Also, lol at the milk line, Arnold is going crazy.

It's much harder for me to not have meat or fish than have sweets. I have dead animals with every meal and I don't feel bad about it. Not necessarily healthy, but I cut down on red meat.

I'd be glad to switch to lab grown meat as soon as it becomes commercially viable...but until then I can't give up the flesh of the innocent, sorry.

I'm all about making meat less of a "main course" and more of an equal side with the veggies, but until the scientists start getting serious about playing god and make kale that tastes like bacon, meat is on the menu.

I've read the opposite. What insects were these people eating? I honestly curious because I've read Crickets in general are lean, full of tons of protein, and their exoskeletons often contain a lot of nutrients. They don't taste bad either, meal worms too. Fry those up and they're like popcorn chicken.

Chicken, eggs, turkey, fish, shrimp, quinoa, couscous, non-fat cheese, tofu, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, nuts and seeds, navy beans, dried lentils, edamame, whey protein, and so on. Plenty of shit other than red meat and pork to meet your daily macro requirements.
