WWE 2k17 Brock Lesnar Cover Revealed + "Suplex City" Trailer

Huh? Brock wrestles maybe 3 matches a year (and they're usually good, too). Plus God King Brock gave us one of the most satisfying matches in modern history

This was so cathartic.

It was at the height of Super Cena boredom. And a Cena squash match was the most unlikely of things I thought I'd ever see in the WWE, and yet it happened.

Then Cena went on to deliver a bunch of really great matches afterwards. Go figure.

I think he's a pretty incredible athlete, it's nice to see him on the cover - reminds me of HCTP, which will always be my favorite wrestling game.

That being said, I do wonder how he'll fair against Hunt. He's probably going to get knocked out! Unless he actually outwrestles him!

Whoa, not on PC?!

Will likely get a late release like 2k15 and 2k16 got sometime next year.

Legends and part timers. 2K is just as WWE for their big events. Ever since the Cena match and the founding of Suplex City, suplexes are all he does and almost every match has been boring and shitty. It's almost a blessing he shows up so rarely - he went from different and exciting to completely boring.

So a Lesnar showcase then? Maybe they'll add matches like

vs Undertaker (Hell in a Cell)- No mercy 2002
vs Kurt Angle - WM19
vs Eddie for WWE Title - No Way Out 2004
His debut? Raw 2002
vs Undertaker - Hell in a Cell 2015
vs Hardcore Holly - Royal Rumble 2004

Copy+pasted from 2K forums.

Smackdown games were shit. I never understand why they get held in such high regard on GAF. The golden age was the Aki games and then a thousand years of shit. I actually think the 2k Yukes games are an improvement over the Smackdown stuff, save maybe HCTP, which I also think is overrated.

We really need a Japanese dev to sign up and do a NJPW game. That way we may see a new engine built at some point. Maybe they even get Syn Sophia.

The reason we had such great wrestling games once upon a time was due to Japan being so big on producing them. That dried up.

I suppose the newer games and more like real life where as the old smackdown games were like an arcade beat em up.

And im pretty sure they still make decent wrestling games in Japan i see them all the time (obviously not based on wwe though)

Btw HCTP is amazing

For you.

PC version will a few months after the console version, as usual.

What new wrestling games were released in Japan recently?

The dawn of the Smackdown series sort of coincided with the death of the Aki games so the franchise has always left a bad taste in my mouth. Aki held its own when it came to sim like gameplay but offered arcade style multiplayer appeal. It really was the best of both worlds.

Smackdown did get good around the time of HCTP but I don't have any nostalgia for that game or the Smackdown franchise in general. I have been happy with the move to sim style but the Yukes engine continues to show its warts year after year. They need to dump it and Yukes at some point.

First time he's been on a cover since what game? Maybe this game will be good??? Guys??????

I don't think i've spent much time with the games that came out on PS3/Xbox

I've played the Ps1/Ps2 games the most.

But it looks like this game is just a refresh of last years game right? Nothing looks exceptionally done.

It's not going to be good, it's going to be trash. Also a handful of WrestlingGAF posters will buy it and continue to be part of the problem.

I guess it's not new, but i saw many wrestling games (action based like smackdowns) in the arcade

A Brock Lesnar Showcase Mode would be pretty interesting, from his Smackdown glory days to the current Suplex City version.

This is prob the first WWE game I will skip in years!!

Let's get real.. this will be once again a lazy update with a cheap new "story mode" and call it a day...

I dont expect any updates with the models (especially women), intros, animations etc..

I was sooooo excited when I heard 2K was fully in charge with WWE games since 2k15... wow.. it turns out it was a lie and it is still Yukes in the steering wheel..

I don't care about the "biggest roster".
I'll take 40 amazing well done models over 130 horrific copy and paste animations etc...

All I wanted was for 2K to focus on presentation!!! Forget the rest.. deliver on an actual Next Gen wrestling title, fix bugs, Collision, and maybe even have a working online mode!!

Theeeeeen slowly update it once again in an anual basis.. is not much I ask for.. :-(

Taking a wait and see approach on this one. They like to hold everything close to release for marketing purposes, but they (Yuke's) really need to solidify a purchase with us well in advance.

I wish they were able to take a year off like the UFC franchise to really dig in without the concern of a minimal dev cycle. Now I'm just rambling. I'll suplex myself out.

I havent bought one of these since WWE 13. The games just got so bad and watching videos of the newer ones they dont look any better. If I get this it would only be for AJ Styles. Besides him and Becky, the rest of the roster can go fuck itself. Owens is OK, but I liked Kevin Steen more.

I really wish these games were good again...

I'm hoping that this year the series can get back on track. But...I doubt it. I'll admit, I keep waiting for the return of the gameplay/grappling mechanic of WWF No Mercy or Virtual Pro Wrestling 2. Those were the days. The AKI glory days.

I've been out of the loop for quite a while, what was the last WWF/E game that was really good?

WWE All Stars (PS3/X360) was pretty solid as an all out arcade game that had no sense of "realism" to it. Shame that Take Two doesn't have any plans to shake the current formula up and do a WWE arcade style game since there's still a ton of potential within that sub-genre.

Maybe 2K will pull their heads out of their candy asses and fix/improve the online portion of this iteration.

I'll ask for a unicorn that shits rainbows too while I am at it.

Still Yukes or as autocorrect likes to change it to Yikes so not going to buy. Worst dev out and they keep coasting every year.

Might look into that. The arcade game, In Your House and that one on the Dreamcast (Royal Rumble?) we're all pretty fun.

Maybe those type of games don't sell that well but I'd think putting out more games of those type would be fun and also a way to sell more than one game a year to WWE fans.

Yup. And his Rumble win in 2003.

Need his WM20 match too, it was legendary.

Yep. The front cover curse is now in effect. Mark Hunt gonna KO his ass.

I thought that was just for John Madden games.
