Street Fighter V Cinematic Story Mode - Spoiler Thread

Just finished the story mode and well done on capcom for rashid. Can't remember the lay time I saw a Arab male character be portrayed in such a positive light. Ryu didn't belong in the story and felt forced because he's the mascot. The main mascot figures suffered the most I think. Still a good job and was just disappointed to not have a sagat tease. He should have been part of Ryu special training.

I really hope Capcom will stop developing this kind of crappy story stuff and start putting their resources on something that people actually want.

People want story and sp content in their fighting game ?

Fighting community and esport is like, 10% of sales ?

When you have loading times that intrusive I don't know why you wouldn't have best-of-3 matches. The matches are over in a flash.

Not against the henchmen or Peter, but everyone else.

The one thing I thought after playing this was that they can make a kickass arcade mode if they use all the NPCs and stages

Finished the story mode. Overall I enjoyed it.

some positives:
-Rashid and FANG had mode importance in the story than I thought.
-Karin having such major role was amazing. I was worried she might barely have any role in the general story mode, but I was pleasantly surprised.
-Juri and Urien was fantastic.
-That ending tease

some negatives:
-Nash was very disappointing, especially at the end.
-What was the point of Necalli?
-The last part of the story was not really good, and felt rushed and abrupt.
-The final boss battle was extremely disappointing.

I really hope we get a season 2 in the future.

Necalli should have consumed all the useless characters first to build him up a bit and to create a reason not to give them too much airtime. He was pretty pointless like that.

Honestly, the most disappointing thing about the ending is that the final fight was weak as hell. I was hoping for some SFA3 Final Bison type shit.

i'd have liked a 2d animation story mode, with character design by Bengus. I mean, SFV does not even have an arcade mode with 2d ending and beginning animation like SFIV. They could save money for some short 2d movie segments instead
Some 3d models were bad with huge hands, feet, tits and asses

At least they could have used the Story mode outfit....... I was honestly expecting that for the final battle.

Kind of weird that his "Story" outfit isn't used in his character story or the main story. Kinda have to wonder if there was something bigger planned at one point.

The first 30 mins of this thing was some of the worst garbage I've ever seen in a FG story.

But it's the writers are like "fuck it" let makes this shit campay and ridiculous. And it works.

And fuck rashid, Karin or even Ryu. The star of the show was Zangeif. I pissed myself laughing Everytime he came on.

Also, is dhalsim low-key the most powerful Street fighter? He was pretty much superhero level the whole way through.

You must be playing on PS4 or a really outdated PC. Load times are nonexistant for me to the point that I was unsure if the scenes were pre-rendered or not. Totally different scenes and sets of characters were loading up back to back in a matter of seconds. I am impressed.
PS4 version has loadings like every 10 seconds. The final acts were a bit of a drag because of that too. Fight, loading, cutscene, loading, fight, loading, cutscene, loading...with some loading followed by just a character doing something or saying a line, then another loading.

eh...it was obviously rushed. the clipping and bouncing hair was pretty bad. but i don't think too many people are gonna care about performance in single player tho. i never notice rashid's ridiculous goatee until playing SP. that shit didn't even move lol

still pretty entertaining plot. didn't end up being a complete throwaway/trainwreck. then again i think everyone lowered their expectations lol

Well, I want a quality experience in every mode. I beat the story mode, and I am playing it on the harder difficulty. It becomes more annoying when I want to react to the cpu, and it lags and there is delay. Hope they fix it.

Ok I beat this thing and somehow missed the gil reveal when or where was it exactly so I can replay that one part. Also Bipson on the harder level is dumb those aren't reactions that bastard is reading controller inputs. Nash sonic boom to get in Tele behind him and get blown up instantly? Yea ok bison... ok.

At above yea Dhalsim was s tier but so was Gief.

Is the sound mix kind of bad or is that just me? The voice volume seems really low. I don't think it adheres to the general sound settings either.

The entire game is like that. I thought it was my TV at launch but one new TV and a set of expensive speakers mater, same thing still happens.

I said it in another thread, having some form of Shin Bison with a remix of Brave or Grave playing would have been hype.

Nash was more inglorious than disappointing, i really wanted him to one up bison, at least in the end, instead of just doing a cool scene that amounted to nothing, and then the leave it to ryu, who just seems like he was an outside party to the whole affair, thats why i hope that if theres a follow up story, that they reveal nash isnt dead yet, or even bison, similarly, if theres another story, that necalli gets more important than just being there

Also, i agree that the final boss battle was disappointing, they should have put bison with new stuff that his playable form doesnt have, but whatever, its not like final bosses in SF games were ever more than their playable forms, except maybe in the Alpha games

Now for EVO Capcom has to reveal a Season 2 story trailer featuring the season 2 DLC cast that would be hype as fuck.

Btw who's the voice actor for Gill? It's so familiar.

They'll probably save the Season 2 reveals for PSX/Capcom Cup.

As for Gill, he's voiced by Liam O'Brien in English.

I'm about 75% of the way through

I can't stand some of these characters

Like I love Rashids fighting mechanics but as a character he is way too goofy.

Where I love Karin as a character in the story but hate her fighting mechanics and I'm forced to play as her a lot.

Which brings us to F.A.N.G.
What a mistake, can't stand his voice, how he walks and twirls and his obsession with Bison, it just really really makes me miss Sagat a lot. To me Vega should be Bison's number two over this guy.
As far as his fighting style yet, can't stand it.

The cuts in the story are worse than you can find in Batman vs Superman.

With all my complaints though.....still much better than the MKX story.

Edit: juri - super annoying....Urien=cool

Geez they really throw you into the deep expert mode end with that Dhalsim - Necalli fight at the beginning. Cheesed that like there's no tomorrow.

Necalli should have consumed all the useless characters first to build him up a bit and to create a reason not to give them too much airtime. He was pretty pointless like that.

I kept thinking that the game was just going to kill Bison (to explain his absence in SFV) and Necalli was going to devour-our-our him to become Shin Psycho Necalli or whatever.

Also, Nash's pointless sacrificing explosion seemed like the perfect opportunity for Bison to use his tattered clothing alt.

The story was about as dumb and pointless just like the story in every Street Fighter game. But I guess it isn't obvious that nothing happens in these plots until you have to watch them for 3 hours.

I THINK after Nash sacrificed himself on Bison, he was supposed to change to his story mode battle torn costume but somebody dropped the ball on that so it just wasn't used at all, super weird.

Vega does nothing to merit being the number 2 lol. Shit he's not even going after chess pieces, he just wants a piece of Cammy's ass

FANG is the only one that actually does something which is why he's second by default.

Couldn't atleast have a 2 second scene with akumas face noticing whats going on with ryu or bison and thats it..?

I liked it a lot. It was very inline with what MK did. I actually liked it more than any other story mode in a fighting game. Especially the light hearted stuff (which all legitimately worked).

Xrd had an unbearable story in my eyes. I actually read a book while occasionally pressing buttons to make things progress (needed those points for Sin). It was cool, but drawn out; drawn out is a real problem if your writing is garbage. If they had tried to inflate the SFV story mode it probably would have been similarly horrible.

MK9 had higher highs and lower lows. MKX was decent, but less memorable.

Really wish the game had launched with it...

Watching Max's LPs for both the English and JPN dubs and I am a bit disappointed that they only synced the lips to JPN. Kinda explains why the English dub was off. They were probably just dubbing it like an anime. The English dub in the character story stuff was way better since they were basically just doing audio plays to static images. I much prefer English for some characters like Cammy, Nash and Juri. They're superior to the JPN voices, imho.

Story mode was fucking terrible

I can't believe people complained about not having this shit
You're confusing this with arcade mode. And it wasn't that bad, this one had some things in it that made me actually laugh. That scene with ryu becoming a wizard was cool as hell, probably because the music was spot on. FANG is strange and memorable just like they intended.

Chun got robbed though. I was waiting to play as her the whole time lol. Only that one time in the end.

This could really have used 2/3 rounds fights, but other than that it was great.

It was ridiculous that Rashid s friend didn't even get a name.

But other than that, Rashid and Fang steal the show.

Wasn't much of a fan. Ridiculous difficulty spike for the last three fights as well. But to be fair I suck and Fang and Bison are two opponents I especially hate playing against at high CPU difficulty. Just skipped them for now to finish the story, will go back and beat them when less salty.

Glad I bought the season pass so I don't have to grind FM or bother with advanced.
