Is there a way to mute games that don't have a mute option? I want to play Human Resource Machine while watching some YouTube videos, I can mute the music but not the sound effects.

If windows, right click on the speaker icon in your tray and click Open Volume Mixer. You can selectively mute individual programs from there.

You can control the volume for each app on recent versions of Windows (7+?). I think you just need to double click the volume indicator that stays next to the clock in the task bar. I would check this but I'm on Linux right now.

I've been playing a lot of Subnautica. Despite how rough the game is I am really loving it. I don't think a game has ever captured the feeling of being underwater like this game has. It's so atmospheric. This game is every thing that I hoped it would be.

Some negatives to point out are the poor optimization and some ugly graphics. Lack of options right now. For example your graphic options are minimum and high. That's it. Come on devs.

On the positive side the crafting is really intuitive and easy in this game. There are tons of things to make and you can really build a bad ass base if you put the time in. There are different modes to play. You can just explore and build or add an element of survival and have to eat and drink. Graphics can be ugly but when you are underwater it looks terrific. It can be downright terrifying sometimes. Once saw two giant creatures fighting each other and noped the fuck out.

The game is really all about exploring. Deeper you go you find diifferent biomes and better mats. There are blueprints hidden everywhere you have to find to learn how to craft certain things.Right now I'm rocking a little mini sub that is really cool but can only go 200 meters down. Below that is even more to explore and I'm working my way toward the big sub which I assume you can go even deeper.

Very happy with my purchase so far and I know the devs will only be adding and improving it. The devs seems very active and are constantly updating the game.

Oh, pretty neat. Thank you!

You should be able to hit the speaker icon in the task bar, then click "mixer" and turn off individual apps.

steam only gave me two cards for going through their shitty discovery queue today

discovery queue is the worst

just the fucking worst

I believe Subnautica has a dev console with more graphical settings. Search the Steam discussions for it, I forgot what key you have to press

I don't see that customize button either.

Are you... on Firefox 48 or above? If you press F12 on the store page after it fully loads, do you see any errors in the console tab?

Thanks for the heads up. I'll search for it. Have devs mentioned anything about optimization? Even on lowest setting the performance is pretty damn bad.

Need to keep in mind that it's still Early Access. Optimization tends to worked on closer to release in many EA games. I'm certain they'll work on improving performance before the final release

True. I have heard that optimization is usually one of the last things devs will work on. Game is really solid right now though and I'm glad I bought it.

It's accurate :D

Impressions of games I've bought during the seal and played:

DOOM - best fps campaign in years
Flywrench - fun and addictive. nice soundtrack... better than nidhogg
Laserlife - it's a trippy rhythm game so if you like it it's cheap
Axiom Verge- this game makes me moist
The Witness - goty confirmed

Go back out to the store and back into your inventory, sometimes it just takes a second to show up.
Try going through another queue. Worked for me.
neither of these worked for me

maybe i got it but it only said 2 (tho it says i've gotten all 24 cards and i have no more cards remaining)

i have like 4 repeats of each card or something so it would be understandable if i miss it

It feels like it's never been truer than with this sale.

I've basically been scouring the bottom of the steam front page to find new shit that might interest me cause i've practically bought everything I want already, and I've already made purchases that I know there's no way I'll get around to in any feasible amount of timeframe.

Stellaris? I'm not usually a 4x guy but I love the space exploration spin. Trying to find something to play tonight while my wife is out. lol

That happened to me yesterday. Going through the first queue today I got two cards (presumably yesterday's and today's.) So it should still be around.

So what would you guys say has been the best sale deal among the games that normally cost more than $15? (bigger releases)

FF48b5 and ES doesn't work at all, seems like it isn't even loading while the other add-ons are fine. Maybe I'll do a complete re-install of the browser later.

That's... very strange. Another user (above) had the same problem though I tested it on 48b5 and it's working fine here. Let me know if you find anything out.

DOOM seems to be the "fan favorite" of this sale. XCOM2 seems like a good deal also.

Coming to the end I have £12.78 left in my steam wallet. Not sure what to buy next, made so many purchases this steam sale.

Definitely picking up Doom but it's cheaper elsewhere. Wanted Dying Light but £20 seems too much IMO.

Sky Rogue is pretty dope. Or like Underrail if you're into crpgs.

I can see how my tastes have changed over the years. This sale I've purchased around 15 games, all $1.99 - $7.99-ish. In years past I would only buy three or four, but they were all big and recent AAA titles for $25 - $40 a pop.

Anyway, Craft the World is a nice little 2D side scrolling sandbox game that's kind of hard to explain, but I really like it. $3.79 USD.

Windward is another sandbox game that can also be played online. It's bizarre but I am getting into it. You're the captain of a ship, lush overhead perspective, sailing around doing stuff. $3.99 USD.

Edit: I forgot about Furi, better claim in on my PS+ before I leave.

As far as I know, this is the first review of Furi (it's put together by a fellow GAF member). I am really looking forward to it, it's out in about two days on Steam. Everything about it just sounds excellent and Carpenter Brut amongst others is composing music for it. Day one.

I'm conflicted. I currently still have a PSplus subscription running for this month, so i could play it for """free""" on PS4. But on the other hand, there is a pc version and i always play multiplats on PC.

Do we know what Furi will cost?

The review mentions the price. If I recall correctly the price is USD 25.

So awesome that this is a PS+ title. Makes up for the few crappy months. I didn't know that this was a boss rush-like game, can't wait to play it.

Re-Posting from the Steam Sale gems thread:

Looking for recommendations for games with deep gameplay with high skill caps?

I love character actions games like DMC and Bayo, Cave SHMUPs like Deathsmiles, Crimzon Clover, Mushihimesama, and have an obsession with Resident Evil and Mercenaries modes.

The only games I have enjoyed this year have been Doom and Dark Souls 3, and generally dislike games like The Witcher 3.

Any good games on sale with these considerations in mind? So far I grabbed the Ys games and Deathsmiles.

Binding of Isaac.

anyone played xcom the bureau? I know it's not like the other games, but just wondering if it's a decent shooter for 4 bucks?

It's...alright, i suppose. The gameplay is pretty standard other than the squad control mechanic, but being generic isn't necessarily a bad thing. The story isn't that good though, it's non-canon and has basically no relevance to the actual XCOM games. I'd say it's worth $4 though
