Wait is it a suspect or person of interest?

Person of interest according to the Dallas Police Chief. They're saying that they need to identify him because witnesses in the crowd are saying he was involved.

Jesus Christ, I don't even know what to say at this point everything is just platitudes. I don't know how much more senseless gun violence Americans need to endure before you shut the NRA way the fuck down and finally update the 2nd amendment to something that's sensible for 2016.

the PERSON OF INTEREST that wants to be talked to by the mayor/dallas PD. not the suspect but they want to talk to him

What is going to happen in this country before things start improving? A full-on revolt against police? There will be war in the streets.

A liberal city in Texas.
Are you implying it's normal to see people walking around with semi-auto rifles in public in Texas?

Open carry.

I know, but if he was a shooter then that contradicts the original report of sniper fire from an elevated position (unless it was later, but I find it hard to think he would run ahead of the crowd without police noticing a dude with a rifle going into a building and somehow getting away after the shooting started)

I'm not wtf'ing over the open carry, I'm wtf'ing over him being on ground level if he was the shooter

Tomorrow, if that turns out not to be the shooter, everyone who posted his picture is taking a long ban. Feel free to edit it out if you aren't confident in the news you're presenting.

Yup. CNN showing a shot of the suspect from the back too that was turned over to police. Now talking to one of the witnesses who took pictures of the guy.

I would hope people's self preservation instincts would kick in before that happens, but I wouldn't be surprised.

The problem is it's a losing battle either way. You can't change things via legislation, you can't change things via violence, so what the hell can you do?

CNN has another picture of the man from behind.

Definitely. I'd guess military if I just saw him walking down the street.

That big-ass rifle though...WHY IS THIS OK!?!?!?

Wow some BLM were taunting police officers, disgusting. This not a good look.

This is all being fueled through different movements and it's unfortunate that it's coming to this. There's gonna be some serious war in this country.....too much stoking of the flames going on when it's unnecessary.

A friend of mine is a cop in the Dallas area......not cool.

Might have slipped off into the garage after that pic was taken. Either way, he's a PoI, doesn't necessarily mean they know for sure that this dude shot up 11 officers tonight.

Okay, would you like to discuss it, or did you just want to stick with the one liner?

Fine. Considering slavery was once legal and anyone of color couldn't share a batnroom/restaurant counter/bus seat anywhere near a white person, yes, your statement was asinine.

Race relations are bad now. They can get much worse, and I fear they are.

What the fuck type of question is that? That's perfectly reasonable. I was barely able to sleep last night. Tonight, with this in my backyard, I probably won't be sleeping tonight either.

Same here.

I've got an early day tomorrow but I'm not gonna be able to sleep with this shit going on.

I know it's about 30 minutes away from where I am right now, but like you said, Dallas is my backyard. It's just hitting so close to home and it's absolutely mental.

At this point it's possible. I don't even want to go to work tomorrow because I know everyone will be talking about this and I really don't want to deal with that shit.

Relax. We're too fat and complacent for that. It's just one crazy summer day. The cops will be back to bullying with impunity in no time.

The police and people here are calling him a person of interest and to call if you have any information on him. Whether he is the killer or not doesn't matter. The police want info on him so I don't know why you would ban people if it turns out he isn't the killer.

I think it's just unbelievable that people can walk the streets with weapons like that.

RIP to the officers. RIP to all of the victims of senseless, reactionary gun violence in the last week. Guns in America indeed.
