UK police aren't routinely armed, but almost every other police force in Europe carry firearms (excluding some local police like the municipal police in France)
Yeah I know, long night, way past my bedtime time and this thread is moving so fast I can't find the post to edit it, my bad.

Everything in the past week has been sickening. It's shocking.

I'm honestly a little bit disgusted by the Facebook posts I've seen saying the cops who were killed deserved this. No, no one deserves this. No one. The American people are killing each other daily throughout the country, police intervention included, and its fucking insane. America needs to sort their fucking shit out.

There can't be a civil war in a country that has the strongest military force in the world, when there is not even a hint of who would be the one to fracture that force.

Come on guys, enough with that nonsense

Probably the most intense footage I've seen from the event yet, civilian footage from inside a parking garage. You can very briefly see what I think is the shooter running away in the distance to the left around the 0:12 mark, but the rest is just tension from the people stuck in the middle of it.

I feel so drained.

The fox news clip had the same Tahoe with the flashing indicators. I think that is him.

Which may be these attackers underlying point in all of this. Other then their fatalistic ideologies and willingness to kill for whatever reason. Though at the end of the day, what did they accomplish? other then that human beings can kill others regardless of their uniform.

Not to give them too much credit but if a terrorist group wanted to plant bombs for a bigger attack on civillians later what better way to get away with it than to draw every law enforcement officer withing a 50 mile radius to one location as a distraction?

you can't put a price on sparks
While I agree with Davepoobond saying open carry ain't for us, bro this ain't the thread to say that shit. At all.

agreed on both points.

not sure how its inappropriate. a major aspect of what played out is one of the Hughes brothers being accused of being a suspect. not to mention the topic was brought up

Piss right off with that attitude. I'm genuinely curious why anyone would openly carry an assault rifle at a peaceful protest. No fucking agenda, so can that right now.

i apologize if it came off crass, but the way i read your comment made it seem like you're characterizing his action.

no need to call me out twice, either. if you've got a problem you oughtta just take it to PM.

You can't walk through any major city in England now without seeing an armed police officer. Not every policeman is armed, but more than ever are. Also all Northern Ireland police officers are armed as standard.

I watch too many movies, I just keep expecting this to get worse and see a explosion of flames escaping out of that parking garage. Please tell me I'm not the only person fearing that.

lets hope that does not happen.

Give me a break, if you want to backpedal go ahead, but a frontpage that has 35 pt font saying something extreme and incorrect is more important than an image. W/E.
Oh give me a break. Maybe I should have been more clear that I meant the image with 2 dead cops is distasteful but the harsh truth and reality we live in but I'm sorry I figured that was obvious. Whatever man

Modern civil war? 9/11 happened and you could still go to McDonald's and get a quarter pounder the next day. Shit might be tense and confusing when details are unclear, but I can't even think of something that would convince normal Americans to take up arms against each other. The only people that would even consider it are the nuts who are already on the fringe right now. We are way too connected for that to even be a plausible scenario. Every election cycle it feels like this country is split in 2. And election day comes and goes and things peacefully move forward.

We got a lot of work to do, and there are going to be discussions about how we prevent having another week like this but ain't nobody fighting against their countryman here.

"playing" dumb? unpossible
Well if the snipers are people of color... that just ended the BLM movement, and racists who are already on level 11 will be even more emboldened to act. Trump will fire them all up as well. I have a feeling they are ex military people of color, and that this is about to get worse on many fronts. I don't expect the GOP controlled any thing to do anything as well. So we are about to have to fend for ourselves.

Example

Is that a threat against the President of the United States?

You don't seem to understand.

This is a common tactic, the police say they have absolute proof that they did X, then they dwindle it down, change a few details and get them to admit to the crime but manipulated the details to get false confessions.

It's a common tactic, that's what they were trying to do to him.

The DPD are generally okay police, and aside from Dallas being a fairly liberal place and the police supporting the protesters, they rarely if ever have things like the two shootings (or the dozens of others like those...). They've implemented racial sensitivity/deescalation training since 2009 that has greatly reduced complaints about them. They're generally not scummy.

At least, I hope they wouldn't do that. Fuck if I know how police throughout the nation are going to react.

Tomorrow I will wake up, jump in the shower and maybe have a piece of toast before heading out to enjoy a fun day of yard sales and then head in to work at some point. I won't give the police a second look.

Meanwhile, people in the very same country I live in may be scared, angry, or apprehensive when they see the police tomorrow. I don't know about any civil war type talk, but things are not right. People have been asking for our help and we have ignored them.

What's crazy about Obama being a "cop hater" is that nearly every speech he ever gives on the subject he does almost nothing but dedicate portions to praise them for the hard job they have and says a few bad apples give the vast number of good ones a bad name.

That front page is distasteful but it's the harsh truth.

It wasn't. It is not anti-police. It is about accountability and reform. Categorically false statement and if you still don't get it, seek to understand by doing some research.

In other news (cause I can't go to sleep), CBS News is ridiculously professional and the commentary was right on the dot.

9/11 caused an unreal unity amongst this country for like 5 days, I seen every race, color and creed united as one, it was a beautiful thing. This is a totally different scenario though unfortunately. Look at us, staying up through the night experiencing the whole thing. We will be effected by it differently than people who just wake up to this tomorrow.

Not 50-60 years ago we had segregation in which fellow countrymen were fighting over someone's right to have the same freedoms as someone else. This is nothing new. This is just a continuation.

This isn't the way to do it. This is just going to make a lot of shit way worse. Fuck

Did I miss something? We still don't know who did this, right?

Yes, which is why someone smarter than him told him to remove it.

He needs smarter people to keep him from Twitter posting. He Tweeted this earlier: Obama says Cops are racist so 2 uneducated black thugs shoot 10 Dallas Cops tonight, killing 4.

We don't know anything about the suspects.
