Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

4) Figure out which is better, powering up earlier as it's 200/1 or on 3rd evolution when it's 600 stardust and 1 candy.

edit: Holy shit Adam, 77k stardust, that's sooooooooooo much.

I don't think that part about powering up is true, considering the disparity of CP earned when powering up at different levels, evolutions, etc.

Also, it's only 7,700

f**k is there a list showing who does max evolve?
Don't think of it like a "max" evolution. Some Pokemon don't evolve at all (for example: Taurus, Scyther, Pinsir, Onyx, Mewtwo) and can still be quite good. Some Pokemon which do evolve the "maximum" two levels aren't so great (see Beedrill, Butterfree). Find whatever Pokemon you like and don't worry about how many times you can evolve them. You aren't getting a benefit all the time. Eevee evolves only once and some of the most powerful Pokemon in GO so far are his possible evolutions.

Apparently you can check how far you've walked. How do you do that?
Hit your trainer icon, scroll down to the medals and see what's listed under "Jogger."

I don't know if the medal name changes based on your distance travelled. It's the first one in the list.

Does this game keep running if the app is up but my screen shuts off? Or do I have to disable the screen timer?

I have battery saver on and know when I turn the phone upside down it dims the screen, but my screen timeout still kicks in. Hoping I can just out this in my pocket and go for jogs

The infrastructure is not in place, that's why it has been delayed. There are still server problems in the regions it has released in.

What's the limit for lure etiquette? Like if someone keeps dropping lures outside a coffee shop, offer to buy them a coffee? That too much? Seen a couple people that just seemed glad to help others out and felt like I could have offered them something in return. Were dropping lures for like an hour and a half.
Hey I'm sure any gesture like that would be super appreciated. I brought a soda for the dude that I met at one lure that he kept re-upping, when I came back hours later that day. But I'm sure no one's expecting anything like that so it would just be a gesture. :)
-The game does not track steps toward egg hatching if the screen is off or the app is in background
-The game will not deliver notifications for nearby pokéstops, gyms, or Pokémon if the screen is off or the app is in background

What are the chances that these two issues are ever addressed and fixed in a patch? Or is the answer that you need to buy the Pokemon Go Plus accessory for these capabilities. It can't be an oversight right?
It's unlikely that they'll change this- you are correct that it can't be an oversight and is intended to sell the accessory, though no one really knows exactly how the Go Plus will work yet either. The app currently doesn't push any information or keep processing in the background at all.

You have to keep it running and on-screen. Some folks have mentioned downloading apps to keep their phone on, but I just disabled the screen sleeping from settings.

List of things I'd like

1) Change it up so you see Pokémon as you move.

They could put an algorithm in so it would randomly spawn so many Poke per KM so that way even people in the boonies would see stuff.

2) Fix the 1 HP Gym bug

3) Somehow rebalance Gyms.

It's either too easy to take over and then you stash one Poke there that's easily gonna fall. Or else it's a stacked gym of like 4 players and you can't beat them all in 1 go.

4) Implement a login queue

This way when servers do get overloaded it queues up people vs overloading and crashing shit. Plus the people who are in would have a stable experience.

5) Pick a server maintenance day and stick with it.

Pick a day like idk Wed morning, and have that be server maintenance time. Then stick with it. Doesn't even have to be every week, but keep the day and time. Then add a notification in app that says when server maintenance is. Blizzard already does this with Hearthstone on Tuesdays. Just copy that model.

6) Add in PvP battles but make them 2v2 only for people idk lvl 7 and above.

People are gonna rage at this idea, but hear me out. 2v2 makes it so you have to be more on the go and social. You'd need 4 people vs just 2. It also would keep people from cheesing XP on 1v1 battles if they owned say a phone and a tablet which they could create a second account on.

Plus locking it behind a level would give another carrot while ensuring people are slightly more leveled. Plus again it would cut down on dummy accounts just for XP.

7) Implement a CP value trading system

Make it so you can trade, but the CP value for each party has to fall within a certain range. This keeps it so people can just hook each other up nor can you cheat some kid out of their best while you give them some trash mob

8) Add in more Poke but at a steady pace

Don't just dump another gen in at once, but at the same time don't drip feed.

9) Fix the GPS walking egg bug(s)

10) Rebalance Poke Balls

This one like gyms is also all over the place. Some people live or work near like multiple Poke stops they can just spam for balls. Others have to travel far just for one stop.

Plus throwing balls is hit or miss, and AR seems to make it HARDER to throw and catch on average. Plus people with a ton of Poke Balls can catch all the trash mobs they want to power level while people skimpy on Poke Balls have to be more selective

Oh and get rid of the dumb curveball nonsense.

hatched a snorlax tonight and powered him up until I ran out of stardust...908 CP! just need 4 more OP pokes to join him and my 758 flareon before i go run this town.

Okay, this is getting very, very annoying. The game is consistently freezing whenever I try and capture a Pokemon. I'm sure someone who isn't as interested in the game would have quit by now.

Well

One of the gyms near me is currently lead by someone with a super racist username

I sent a report to Niantic so I really really hope he/she gets banned soon

It's super annoying. Happens to me nearly every time. I said it happened 4/5 times earlier this thread, but it's probably more than that. Feels like I only ever get the proper shake animation 5% of the time, and every other capture requires me to force quit and restart the app to see if I caught the Pokemon or not.

do you have battery saver mode on? I used to use it but realized it fucks my shit up

Good job and people should also report area like houses because people can't have public access without treppassing.

Wow thank you for the link.

So, on track for roughly as many daily Android users as Twitter, without an official release in most of the world... LOL

Data is very modest. There are very few big chunks of data transmission.

In terms of battery usage, it's probably the most draining application I've ever even heard of.
Definitely.

As I've noticed as well, this game drains so much battery, but it is a pretty decent on data.

Dunno then

Still happens to me, just not as often as your describing
I'm on an iPhone 6S Plus, I don't know if the game doesn't play nice with Apple devices or what. But it can be really frustrating how often I need to restart because the pokeball animation locks up.

Any chance they will switch it to using push notifications when Pokemon are near so you don't have to have your screen on all the time?

iPhone 6 here

Like I said, it happens but not very frequently for me

And It actually used to be a lot worse and only recently got better

Which makes me think it's either server or data/connection related

Are you using iOS 10 beta by any chance?

I feel like i won the lottery. I was looking for some good pokespots in my area, and i found a huge cemetry area about 10 mins driving from my house. It had two gyms, and I think at least 20 to 30 pokestops. Unreal. My sister had zero pokeballs, went up to 100 in no time flat. If you live in the Riverdale, Georgia area, I can give more info.

Just spent another $10 for pokeballs... This will be it for me, and if I don't find a nearby location with pokestops I'm going to have to stop playing out of necessity. Too bad.

This right here is one of the reasons why #10 on my list is rebalance Poke Balls.

Saw a Poliwrath on the way to the park and couldn't locate it at all. No matter which direction I went, it was either 3 steps, 2 steps, 1 step, but then it'd disappear or switch rows so it was unpredictable. Anyway, got to a residential street attempting to look for it and I suddenly heard a lady from her living room scream:

"GET OFF MY LAWN, YOU WEIRDOS."

Lady, I wasn't on your lawn. I was on the sidewalk! Get a phone, go outside and play Pokemon Go. You'll feel better!

Can anyone answer this question for me?
My wife and I took a gym today and left 2 lv 600 Pokemon there to protect. I just checked and our Pokemon are back in our bag and our gym now has 4 lv 140 trash mons.. What the heck happened? The gym did not switch colors we just got booted out.

You really can't. The most you can do is buy a ton of lures and hope the Pokemon you need show up.

Ahh I see. Only things have decent I've got from Incense is a Jynx and a Horsea... Other than that it's Pidgeys, Rattatas, Sparrows 9 times outta 10 for me.

It could have flipped multiple times for all you know. Hence the team color discrepancy.

Maybe they'll allow for items trading along with Pokemon, if/when they enable that. Attach some items to a pokemon before trading (of course that'd go against there microtransaction plans, but still)... I've got seemingly endless pokeballs and barely visit pokestops, and I keep reading posts here from people throwing away hundreds of them, but then there's those who run out somehow.

I'm actually not sure where all mine come from. I got maybe 30 from pokestops over the past week, but I've never attempted to interact with a gym or bought anything from the store. I'd guess consistently leveling up fills my bag with them?

I've easily thrown 300, considering what I've caught and the times I've missed. Something seems off for it to be so inconsistent for players (someone did claim their phone made it harder to aim, but it sounded like an excuse; who knows).
