You just wait until Mighty No GO takes the world by storm! If Inafune had IP with the same power as Nintendo's, sure!
whats going to happen, when you can only get exclusive pokemon when you buy moon and sun this fall...
They would be fools to not use this momentum to gain Sun & Moon hype. They need a massive cross promotion starting NOW.
You have no idea what you're saying.
For now at least, the problem is that the consumer Nintendo attracts is not gonna buy more gaming hardware, because they already have the hardware they want.
Dedicated gaming hardware for Nintendo is a dead end they will face eventually. Mobile is the perfect solution.
This honestly terrifies me.
I don't want to live in a world where Nintendo gives up on hardware and traditional gaming and goes all in on mobile games with microtransactions and no proper button controls. But if they continue seeing this kind of success with mobile games and the NX flops, that's a real possibility.
It would kill a significant portion of my interest in video games if that happened.
So before these investors realize they invested in the wrong thing, NX announcement totally bombs and those investors get completely screwed since Nintendo barely has anything to do with Pokemon Go.

Why is it that the die-hard Nintendo fans on GAF are so damn dismissive of this game? Nintendo and Pokemon have literally never been more relevant, this is like the release of Pokemon Red/Blue kind of huge..
Impressive! And to think, Pokemon Go is probably only 20% of what it could be. While it has it's charms and clearly an addictive nature, I wish it were more feature rich...
But it's free, so why the hell not right?
Lol, you seem salty.
From the game's announcement event where even miyamoto was present and talking about the project:
"To tell you the truth, I have been working on this project for about two years along with Nintendo's Mr. Iwata, and I really hoped we could make the announcement together. That desire is part of why I decided to hold this conference today."
The Pokémon Company will act as a partner with Niantic, Inc. to move forward with the creation of Pokémon GO.
Not just that, but one more company—Nintendo—has also joined us as a partner on this project.
So today, I would like to talk about this project that Niantic, Inc., Nintendo, and The Pokémon Company are working on."
Can we please put that Nintendo hs nothing to do with it nonsense to rest please?
Tbh I'm seeing this game being talked about from people who haven't played since 2000, people in the hip-hop community who aren't known for this, just seeing it everywhere it's insanely huge and it's people of all ages.
People are dismissive but to doubt it is completely is shaky to me. I mean you literally see how big this thing is. You can physically see it. That. Is. Insane.
Ummm. They own 1/3 of the pokemon company dude. Just let it go. Guess we will see when they announce earnings. Also, i love how you think you know better than investors, yet you seemed blissfully unaware of their involvement in the project. Lol.And do you know how much money Nintendo is making off this?
Without being the publisher OR developer, they probably only make some money off copyright licensing, and that's my point.
You invest in a company when it's going to make money. Nintendo isn't making as much money as all these investors think they are. This is not about who made what, it's about who is making the money worth investing in.

And to correct you, Nintendo, The Pokemon Company, and Google all threw money at Niantic, and that was as far as their partnership went.
Hopefully this translates to more console sales (unfortunately, I have my doubts it will.)
They would be fools to not use this momentum to gain Sun & Moon hype. They need a massive cross promotion starting NOW.
I mean...no.
It's lightning in a bottle, but as a game, it's shallow and dry, but people are having a blast just running around catching pokemon.
Why is it that the die-hardNintendoPokemon fans on GAF are so damn dismissive of this game? Nintendo and Pokemon have literally never been more relevant, this is like the release of Pokemon Red/Blue kind of huge.
Just because it isn't once again a traditional console game doesn't mean that millions and millions of people aren't having a goddamn blast with this game. A whole new generation of people is connecting with Nintendo and Pokemon again.
And whether you personally like mobile gaming or not is irrelevant to what's happening here. It's obvious that this is a market that's extremely, extremely lucrative for Nintendo to be in so that's what they will keep doing in the future along with all of their other activities in the console and handheld space.
This is absolutely one of the best products they have released in years and years.
Pokemon GO is the best Nintendo game on q decade. Well deserved success.
Blasphemy, Nintendo couldn't possibly catch lightning in a bottle more than once, we've been told that over and over again! [/sarcasm]
But in all seriousness, don't use that phrase too liberally, it brings all sorts of connotations with it.
With some slight corrections I made, this I can agree with. I personally find that it's likely not enough to keep me engaged long-term, if only because my schedule doesn't permit me to wander around my city to maximize my enjoyment of it like it seems to want me to, but people do enjoy it and it does bring brand awareness. We just have to hope that Nintendo will be able to maximize the potential of that.
That being said...
This is a terribly subjective statement, unless you meant "most successful" in lieu of "best". Which I don't think is what you meant. In which case, not to be the bearer of bad news, but your opinion on the subject is not a universal truth to all involved. That's unfortunate, but it's what it is.
You once again display the fact that you're not really getting what makes this game popular. It's not for gamers. It's for everyone.
They will ensuredly improve upon the game and add more features. But the depth you seek it likely will never, ever provide. And that's a good thing. There's 3DS games out there for you if you want in-depth theorycrafting and intricate mechanics.
I'm honestly surprised Pokemon is still a thing.
How is any of what I said an indication that I don't "get" what makes it popular, exactly?
i dont understand why people can nintendo have a win for a change.
they are not involved on pokemon go tho!
this has nothing to do with nintendo!
SEEE SEEE MOBILE WAS THE ANSWER ALL ALONG
it will be dead on a month!
i dont know why, the app sucks
miitomo tho
it doesnt matter if you were right or wrong about things, the only thing that matters its what nintendo do and if they survive in the end.
anyways, congrats to Nintendo, The Pokemon Company and Niantic it is a great little app, even in my small town on mexico there are a LOT, and i mean a LOT playing it (it hasnt even launched here yet)
You keep hammering on the idea that it doesn't have enough depth, that it will turn-off diehard fans of the series. Like you. That's not a problem with the game itself.
It also refers to some earlier statements you made about Nintendo having to absolutely flood the game with new depth and features right this second or they are fucking up. It's simply not true. You're looking at this from the limited perspective of a hardcore gamer.
Basically, the diehard Pokemon RPG fans can go kick rocks because this simple and easy to pick up game is turning into a bigger phenomenon than those games. And it's doing so almost overnight. It's amazing because it's so pick-up-and-play.
They will ensuredly add more features to the game but the game in it's core is never created to scratch the same itch as the 3DS RPG's do. It's completely different and people are loving it so much that it's putting Nintendo and Pokemon back on the fucking map. If that's not a good product then I don't know what is.
Nintendo succeeded what Sony has been failing to do for the last few years; cracking the mobile market.
PS Mobile, PS Experia, remote play etc.
