I can't say with any certainty that the immigrants DJT is referring to are more prone to criminal activities and harm to our society but can you say with any certainty that they aren't? This is not the immigrants fault. Most of them have barely any education at all...people realize that right? Many of them are poor and came from nothing. It's a fact that the hand you're dealt in life in RE: to the environment you grow up in has a significant effect on how you'll end up, which includes criminal behavior. This is why black people have proportionally higher crime rates compared to other ethnicities...b/c most of them got a shitty hand dealt to them, they got screwed over being born into poor derelict neighborhoods rife with crime and corruption. Every baby is the same when they're born...no one baby is more susceptible to be locked up as a youth than the other. So how does this happen? Our social and economic environment we grow up in and the immediate disadvantages that come with that. It's like spotting someone HORS in a game of HORSEEven saying many Mexican immigrants are murderers, rapists, etc. is wrong.
I think the minimum wage will go up and make these jobs more enticing to American citizens. I'm not dumb enough to think a Trump led govt is gonna let it go up to $15/hour (which was economically unfeasible Bernie talk) but I do believe it'll go up.Well, consider you have millions of these immigrants working low-paying but still critical jobs. Now you've rounded them all up and kicked them out. Who's going to work those jobs now? Americans by and large don't want to work the jobs that immigrants have, and even if they did, they'd want higher wages and more benefits (or any benefits, for that matter) than those immigrants are currently getting. That's a huge financial burden on any business that employs illegal immigrants -- and that's assuming they can fill every one of those jobs, and do so immediately after the previous employees are deported, anyway.
My stance isn't that he had a change of heart about the ban...it's that he was never serious about it in the first place. See here:Trump's backtrack is like when people try to hide LGBT discrimination under the guise of religious liberty. Profiling countries that have been compromised by terrorism is just another name for profiling against Muslim immigrants. Unless you believe a Trump administration will also be denying entry to non-Muslim immigrants from France, Germany, etc.?
And none of that changes that his original, plainly spoken position was decidedly anti-Muslim. Do you really believe in the span of six months Trump has had a true change of heart and no longer believes the worst about Muslims? Not just in regards to the ban, but all the shit he has said about them, like falsely claiming that thousands of Muslims in New Jersey celebrated the 9/11 attacks. He even said in that same interview that the reason he has shifted gears on the Muslim ban is people were upset about the word "Muslim" being included. It's not a change of policy or a change of heart, it's just a minor change of language.
I really think he wasn't serious about the ban the whole time...he kept trying to one up himself with the crazy attention grabbing headlines...this was during his snowballing period which began with the wall. Monkey throwing shit at the walls (in this case at the media) hoping to garner major headlines and getting support from the republicans who are racist and bigoted.
I didn't say that they weren't hard working, morally upstanding and law abiding people. This is a pet peeve of mine when it comes to reading talking points here. You put words and assumptions in peoples mouths and when you do it's to the extreme to make the other person look bad.If I have to choose only one thing of the many things I disagree with in your post, this would is it. I suppose those illegal Mexicans aren't morally abiding, but in fact deplorable people who are intolerable of American views (otherwise, why would they be here, am I right?) and refuse to learn English because they think the language sucks. They should be assimilating into the American culture. You know, the one largely comprised of immigrants and diverse cultures. The melting pot.
My parents are from Eastern Europe. I am of Serbian descent. They immigrated here and got their citizenship. But I'd be damned if I looked down on people who didn't wait to migrate here and became citizens because of circumstances that put their lives in jeopardy or at a standard of living that even in your worst days you've probably never experienced.
Should the many Serbian families I know who migrated here and got their citizenship but never learned English and still stick to their roots be deported as well? Man, ______ _____ ____ __ __ _ _______________. That's what I have to say.
So much of the things he says are in jest...he's incredibly sarcastic and off the cuff. We've never had a candidate like this before. He didn't use a teleprompter till recently...how crazy is that? It's unheard of. Again this is a "dangerous way to think" like the one person said above but my intuition tells me that "I'll pay his legal fees!!!" statement wasn't serious.Trump doesn't have to be overtly racist to do a lot of harm. Minorities have been mistreated at his conventions, they have been kicked out, attacked, etc. Trump's response to that isn't to condemn those actions, instead he eggs them on and offers to pay the legal fees for anyone who assaults them. An elected Trump would embolden the racists, racism in America would get worse.
