Even saying many Mexican immigrants are murderers, rapists, etc. is wrong.
I can't say with any certainty that the immigrants DJT is referring to are more prone to criminal activities and harm to our society but can you say with any certainty that they aren't? This is not the immigrants fault. Most of them have barely any education at all...people realize that right? Many of them are poor and came from nothing. It's a fact that the hand you're dealt in life in RE: to the environment you grow up in has a significant effect on how you'll end up, which includes criminal behavior. This is why black people have proportionally higher crime rates compared to other ethnicities...b/c most of them got a shitty hand dealt to them, they got screwed over being born into poor derelict neighborhoods rife with crime and corruption. Every baby is the same when they're born...no one baby is more susceptible to be locked up as a youth than the other. So how does this happen? Our social and economic environment we grow up in and the immediate disadvantages that come with that. It's like spotting someone HORS in a game of HORSE

Well, consider you have millions of these immigrants working low-paying but still critical jobs. Now you've rounded them all up and kicked them out. Who's going to work those jobs now? Americans by and large don't want to work the jobs that immigrants have, and even if they did, they'd want higher wages and more benefits (or any benefits, for that matter) than those immigrants are currently getting. That's a huge financial burden on any business that employs illegal immigrants -- and that's assuming they can fill every one of those jobs, and do so immediately after the previous employees are deported, anyway.
I think the minimum wage will go up and make these jobs more enticing to American citizens. I'm not dumb enough to think a Trump led govt is gonna let it go up to $15/hour (which was economically unfeasible Bernie talk) but I do believe it'll go up.

Trump's backtrack is like when people try to hide LGBT discrimination under the guise of religious liberty. Profiling countries that have been compromised by terrorism is just another name for profiling against Muslim immigrants. Unless you believe a Trump administration will also be denying entry to non-Muslim immigrants from France, Germany, etc.?

And none of that changes that his original, plainly spoken position was decidedly anti-Muslim. Do you really believe in the span of six months Trump has had a true change of heart and no longer believes the worst about Muslims? Not just in regards to the ban, but all the shit he has said about them, like falsely claiming that thousands of Muslims in New Jersey celebrated the 9/11 attacks. He even said in that same interview that the reason he has shifted gears on the Muslim ban is people were upset about the word "Muslim" being included. It's not a change of policy or a change of heart, it's just a minor change of language.
My stance isn't that he had a change of heart about the ban...it's that he was never serious about it in the first place. See here:
I really think he wasn't serious about the ban the whole time...he kept trying to one up himself with the crazy attention grabbing headlines...this was during his snowballing period which began with the wall. Monkey throwing shit at the walls (in this case at the media) hoping to garner major headlines and getting support from the republicans who are racist and bigoted.

If I have to choose only one thing of the many things I disagree with in your post, this would is it. I suppose those illegal Mexicans aren't morally abiding, but in fact deplorable people who are intolerable of American views (otherwise, why would they be here, am I right?) and refuse to learn English because they think the language sucks. They should be assimilating into the American culture. You know, the one largely comprised of immigrants and diverse cultures. The melting pot.

My parents are from Eastern Europe. I am of Serbian descent. They immigrated here and got their citizenship. But I'd be damned if I looked down on people who didn't wait to migrate here and became citizens because of circumstances that put their lives in jeopardy or at a standard of living that even in your worst days you've probably never experienced.

Should the many Serbian families I know who migrated here and got their citizenship but never learned English and still stick to their roots be deported as well? Man, ______ _____ ____ __ __ _ _______________. That's what I have to say.
I didn't say that they weren't hard working, morally upstanding and law abiding people. This is a pet peeve of mine when it comes to reading talking points here. You put words and assumptions in peoples mouths and when you do it's to the extreme to make the other person look bad.

Trump doesn't have to be overtly racist to do a lot of harm. Minorities have been mistreated at his conventions, they have been kicked out, attacked, etc. Trump's response to that isn't to condemn those actions, instead he eggs them on and offers to pay the legal fees for anyone who assaults them. An elected Trump would embolden the racists, racism in America would get worse.
So much of the things he says are in jest...he's incredibly sarcastic and off the cuff. We've never had a candidate like this before. He didn't use a teleprompter till recently...how crazy is that? It's unheard of. Again this is a "dangerous way to think" like the one person said above but my intuition tells me that "I'll pay his legal fees!!!" statement wasn't serious.

I have a horrible feeling that Trump will win. I'm Irish but I have Americans friends who are democrats who won't vote for Clinton under any circumstances. They'd rather abstain.

And I have multiple life long republicans in my friends and family who won't vote for trump. Anecdotes don't mean much. Get out the vote in FL, PA, OH, VA, NC, means everything.

Nope!!!! Time to panic!!!!

Edit: Nvm, this pic was from 2014. Which sucks lol

I don't know, but sometimes looks like there some people on denial in every pool thread.

I still think that Trump won't win, but it's not "there's 0 chance of him win lol" and it's more a "Ok, maybe he has a small, but real, chance".

I know, and really understand why, that you americans are afraid (and maybe all the world should be), but Trump president is a real threat now and not just a joke.

Go out and vote for Clinton. Do it. If you are nervous, confident, or anywhere in between.... VOTE FOR CLINTON. Don't waste your stupid fedora vote on some random dude or sit at home playing games. Go out and vote for Clinton.

.

Yet you also ignore my mention of the idiotic assertion that they don't assimilate and therefore that is a problem, while simultaneously failing to recognize how that's a problematic thought and how this country is a melting pot.

Go on.

The fact the bump is only this much is great news for Hillary. The BS and lies from the Trump campaign are finally starting to take their toll.

I think the biggest hope we can have is that Trump's dumpster fire of a campaign will be less efficient at getting out the vote than Hillary's. GOTV made the difference against Romney and hopefully the Obama machine can work its magic for Hillary.

As a European I really don't want to see a Trump presidency, the only somewhat positive thing that could come from it is that he'll take the kiddy gloves off and pound ISIS into oblivion.. but everything else from the economy to the environment will be a disaster.

If 60% of respondents to your survey is through landline, something young people don't have/care because of the prevalence of smartphones, and you have so few 18-34 year olds respondents that they're listed as N/A, obviously your results are going to slant conservative.

When you take these facts into account, it isn't remotely surprising that Johnson got 9%. Heck, the actual surprising thing to me is that Clinton is only down 5% against a Republican nominee.

If I recall correctly plenty of the polls that had Clinton ahead had like 36% democrat and 24% republican, which would seemingly give Clinton a big boost. All polls have strange things things like that. Doesn't mean there's something wrong with this one. Depends on the poll method.

First of all, go out and vote for Clinton. Do it. If you are nervous, confident, or anywhere in between.... VOTE FOR CLINTON. Don't waste your stupid fedora vote on some random dude or sit at home playing games. Go out and vote for Clinton.

Fuck this mentality. There is a ticket with 16 years of governorship experience out there. Vote however you want. It's your fucking vote.

WE'RE DOING IT GAFFERS

Gonna feel so good come November being able to say "WE DID IT GAFFERS" if Drumpf wins.

We're making history bois!!! Lets goooo!!!

Correction.

I sincerely hope both of you are joking. My very life is on the line with the Republican party platform. Especially if they maintain control of Congress. Not to mention the SC will be extremely conservative for decades to come.

Yep. Only way Hilary doesn't soundly win is if the younger folks just don't vote or flush their vote down the toilet, IMO. Which could easily happen.

I remember asking GAF last year "What if Drumpf wins?" No one took me seriously.

I took it semi-seriously. The Republican party is stupid enough to elect him. He's the perfect puppet-candidate. And despite how uncharismatic he is, because of years of cultivated fear-mongering, all he has to do is say the words and people fall in line for him.

i feel like it's one national poll that is literally still in fucking july

The least predictive polls are, historically, in July. The most predictive polls are in February and August.

Having a poll when one party has had its convention and the other hasn't and calling it predictive is actually just straight up dumb.

This was before Obama showed Romney his ass in debates though, right? We have no idea if Trump will crumble the same way.

He's far less equipped for debate than Romney ever was. He's going to come across as an idiot either way, but if Clinton manages to unhinge him he's going to do and say some real stupid shit.

Unfortunately she needs to come up with a good pitch beyond saying Vote for Me because I'm not Trump. She needs those voters that are currently voting third-party. Her job is to convince them that she will be a good steward for the country and that they should want to vote for her.

Her biggest concern has to be an enthusiasm gap between her base level support and Trumps. To GOTV she needs to have a lot of people motivated and willing to vote for her.

Typical coming off of a convention, but while I think the threat of President Trump is remote, it is still very real. Get out and vote, people.

Edit: Convention...not Convenient..

Drumpf is just joking guys!.

Please stop playing with this mentality. I don't give a shit what Drumpf's claimed policy positions are. He barely presents any in any detail period. He's nothing but a puppet and a mouthpiece. To see where the Republican party wants to go with a Drumpf presidency, take a look at their platform. It's the farthest right the party has been in decades.

Fuck this mentality. There is a ticket with 16 years of governorship experience out there. Vote however you want. It's your fucking vote.

I have said it before and I will say it again. I always tell people I know to vote. This time I am telling people I know to not only vote, but to vote for Clinton.

Most people just tune out politics and really have no clue just how fucking bad Trump is.

He's far less equipped for debate than Romney ever was. All Clinton has to do is unhinge him a few times and he's going to do and say some real stupid shit.

He's been stomped in every debate thus far and it hasn't mattered. His voters don't care about the debates (which says a lot about them).

Sheesh, how many elections have you guys been part of?

Lets see how things are in october during the debates

While you're right about the overreaction to poll numbers four months from election day, it's important to have a real sense of feeling the fear of a potential Republican win in November...helps to motivate folks who actually give a shit. Polls in the modern news cycle seem mostly useless otherwise, but I've only been voting since '92.

Not that it is germane to this discussion because the initial image is misleading, but do people really not remember that Romney won that first debate handily? Obama was coming in bored, tired, apparently had things going on and couldn't attend all the debate camps beforehand, and definitely thought Romney couldn't hang with him. Romney, on the other hand, feared Obama as a debater so he came in at 100%.

It wasn't until the "Please, proceed, Governor" moment that Obama took the narrative back.

wait that's never been her pitch....she's been making her policy case. But she does need to step it up in terms of bringing out the rhetorical fangs.

Favorability ratings for Trump's wife, Melania, climbed from 27% pre-convention to 43% post-convention, despite news that her Monday night speech contained passages lifted from Michelle Obama's 2008 Democratic convention speech.

.....

I generally agree with you. In most election years I would say the same thing.

This is not a normal election. Trump is a worthless piece of shit of a human being who wants to prop up Putin and promote hate.

He's been stomped in every debate thus far and it hasn't mattered. His voters don't care about the debates (which says a lot about them).

His voters are a lost cause. It's about Clinton shining a light on his immense shortcomings and getting sensible people out to vote and make sure he doesn't win.

Forget the fact that Trump is leading in this poll. It shouldn't even be close in the first place.

Feel free to rest easy at the fact that polls have been wrong before. That seems to be quite a few people's go-to move whenever they see some results they don't like.
