UE4 Indie game Lost Soul Aside looks very impressive

Looks like XV and Devil May Cry had a baby. Looks great and definitely has a lot of potential. I just hope it's ever going to come out.

DID THEY SERIOUSLY JUST USE THE FUCKING AIM DOOR OPENING SOUND.

I will admit though there is a lot to be impressed by considering this is an indie title. Will keep an eye out for it.

Gameplay looks acrobatic like Devil May Cry yet you can see the character using guard like Ninja Gaiden. And those blue trails look very stylish. The only thing that has me worried is that there doesn't seem to be any level design (aside from a few spots), just plain open spaces, but if the combat's as good as it looks I won't care, maybe they were probably procedurally generated to save development time?

This is kind the game Capcom would have made when they were still cool. Nowadays they dont care about these kind of games anymore.

Between this and Hellblade it looks like low-budget, but still really cool looking games are possible. Development tools must've gotten extremely streamlined in the last few, eh? Seems like Epic really want UE4 to be widely adopted by dev teams of all sizes

Still can't get over the fact that this is a 1-man job, even if he's using pre-made assets.

This guy is not ready for the sudden attention boost he's going to receive. But yeah, game looks crazy good. I'll definitely keep tabs on it.

Was really not impressed with the graphics and voice acting. Then finally the combat started… That's pretty darn impressive.

He needs to start a Kickstarter ASAP, get a dev team and flesh this game as much as he can, like music, areas, boss battles, extra characters , etc. I'm sure tons of people would back this, including me and I never backed a game before. What do you guys think?

This is what I love about UE. It's just a godsend to the creative producers. And the marketplace helps a lot too.

I never understood why devs create their own engines, if there is one that can do all that, but better and doesn't cost nearly as much. It's like how a Hollywood blockbuster movie, doesn't develop and builds their own cameras and video cutting software, unless it's absolutely necessary.

I would throw money this guy's way, even with the potential outcome of the dev getting over his head and things not working out. We need more highly stylized eastern games like this on PC and in general, especially in the indie scene.
Still salty about FFXV PC taking its sweet time being announced :/
.

Worst comes to worst, he's got a future as a character modeler somewhere.

That said, I'm not surprised that the combat looks like it does right now. Hellblade's combat (both the old and newer versions) has been worked on by no more than 3 people at a given time, not including animations.

Reminds me a lot of Killer is Dead, actually.

The heavy blue trails and general pace do look a lot like its higher combo levels, but hopefully this game is going for something a little deeper combat-wise - not that KiD wasn't fun for what it was.

Yeah, I hear you. Love the game, but I can't disagree with that.

EDIT: Even the boss fight and the first few seconds of the video are very reminiscent of KiD's bosses and the nightmare sequences.

Fuck me, I'm showing this to my programmer friend.

This is insanely impressive, and there really is no excuse for us sitting on our asses.

This has to be a "Moby Dick", "P.T." type of viral marketing and this game is actually developed by a major company, because I refuse to believe this has been achieved by a single person. This looked amazing and if he could flesh up things like the VAs, camera work (which is still impressive for an indie title) and art direction, it could really end up being an awesome game.

I hope some company contacts the developer and gets information about the project so they could offer him a deal.

Only going to grow--this game looks good and people need an indie guy to place their dreams in since FFXV isn't perfectly perfect lol.

Oh man, I can't believe FFXV is such shit, like what an awful terrible game that I've played through already because its like, out and stuff.

Reading his comments about the project, seems like he was really inspired by the FFXV E3 2013 trailer. Man, I hope he turns out to have the tools necessary to make a playable demo so he can pitch it to some publisher. This looked so good.

It's like FFXV (main character design and animation) had a baby with NieR Automata (flashing eyes to signal attack, character action 3D bullet hell madness).

Impressive as hell.

Gaf should be flooding with these gifs

Jesus fucking Christ. This is just insane. Incredibly. Just... wow! I know how to code and do some 3D modelling, and some game design, though I'm not really great at them, but I know what it's like. So it baffles me so much how he could have done all this, all on his own, for just two years. The time to think of the concept to figure out how to code the shit, use UE4, modelling everything, and all the fucking animations! Then making it all come together... Fucking hell. This guy is going places.

This definitely reminds me of TGS 2014 FFXV. He said two years ago, right? One of the maps even looks like Duscae.

The heavy blue trails is definitely another thing from FFXV.

That is pretty impressive, considering that all this was made by one designer. Even though some parts are corny as hell.

A little bit of FFXV, a little of DMC, and a bit of a Korean rpg aesthetic.
