So what I'm taking from people annoyed at Joker cuts is that they had no interest in an actual squad movie and were just in it for a character who's never been relevant to the franchise outside of small subplots.

As for getting more Deadshot, he's always been one of Suicide Squads central characters. He was always going to be the male lead alongside Harley.

Yes, if a little overly traditional. There doesn't seem to be any "wow Joker" moment, it's traditional Joker through and through.

Either they were scared he'd steal the show, or maybe the "wow joker" moment is simply one of the scene with Jared's performance ?

I see people have deluded themselves into thinking the UC is some big-changer.

It's essentially the same movie.
Hell no. Superman being a character alone changed things. I mean, yes, it's the same, in the same way the restored Jesus painting in Spain was the same thing as it was before. But that's a discussion for its thread, one where the vast majority of opinions say it's better.

The Joker was very clearly marketed as a main character here. Magazine covers, big moments in the trailers, just all this hype about him. It is misleading and will disappoint people. Sure he was a side character but they cut it down even more from what small amount they had to the point we have literally seen all the scenes he's in (allegedly - https://mobile.twitter.com/dceuskwad/status/759717252941873152)

While it is better, I can't say the bad points of the movie are gone in UC.

It's rather that it has more good points, but the bad points are still absolutely dreadful. So heh...

I think it's an okay movie. Not satisfied with many things though.

If SS is anything like it I'll consider it a failure, just so we're clear.

That might be a bit hyperbolic. Very hyperbolic. In fact I can tell a very cool scene we haven't seen in any trailer.

People were doing that before it even came out. "The studio ruined the movie!" Damage control for this was even kicking into high gear with that one tweet about changed scenes.

On topic, reading the spoilers it sounds like the movie is what I was expecting. At least people are finding positive things to say about it.

Agree. No idea why people seem to like it so much.

Do they realize that by latching onto to the director's cut as if it magically fixes all the film's problems they are essentially admitting the film they've been defending for months before was a jumbled broken mess?

Nice to say we have a thread with 2000+ posts of collective hysteria.

It's a combination of factors. For the people who liked Batman v Superman, they're probably hoping that this is the film that legitimizes the current DC Extended Universe across the board. If this is a huge crowdpleaser, people won't dump on Batman v Superman as much and the lead up to Justice League will be more positive. For the people who didn't like Batman v Superman, they're probably hoping that this is more exciting than what we got with BvS. Or they want to watch the whole thing just burn down in the hopes that it will cause DC to shift the direction of the future films.

Personally, I hope it's a grand slam. Not because I have some vested interest in the future of the DC Extended Universe. They could reboot it next year and I wouldn't care. I just want to watch good movies. This summer has been filled to the brim with lazy, lackluster blockbusters and it would be nice to see something different and entertaining.

Amen.

The biggest objective flaw with BvS was how hard it is to follow. Almost everything else is subjective. UC solves a big problem a lot of people had with it.

From the very start they told us that he was only a side character. Jared Leto was barely ever with the cast when we heard about stuff being filmed. Sure their marketing might have showed him off a bit much, but any one paying attention to the movies development should have known he was never a huge element of it.
Anyway, for actual fans of the comic he was never going to be the draw of the movie for them.
