This is near the equivalent of the HS team putting out adventure wings and saying you can't spend saved up in game gold for them. Little suspicious.

you mean to tell me... i waited all this time
and none of the skins are gonna be for Pharah?
PASS
It's even worse, Overwatch isn't a free-to-play game, Hearthstone is.
This is what it feels like to people who dropped cash on loot boxes to save up some credits
yeah, Summer skins aside, I want to know what my credits are good for now. Only the base skins? If it's just going to the events and skins that you can't buy, what's the point of the currency. That's not how it works Blizzard.

And people say Nintendo is behind the curve
isnt it just these three ugly ass lucio tracer and zarya skins???What makes you think this?
To be fair, we could also be getting a new map and mode today that requires no additional purchase.
Duplicates = coins = stuff you want
How I got all my preferred legendaries.
Is there any indication that the new map and mode would also be limited time things? I'd assume so just because it'd make no sense for Olympic themed stuff to last forever, but I just figured I'd ask.

I'm not angry, more disappointed. And you'd rather there be no push-back on this? You'd rather let Blizzard make Overwatch's economy less consumer friendly and we just sit back and take it because these posts annoy you?
If Kaplan decides to pull back on some of this stuff because of the community's reaction you are welcome in advance.
Edit: Good post on Blizz forums about the virtual economy: http://us.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/20747777123
Again your odds never increase. Ever. There is no speeding up of anything. You will never ever have an improved chance of getting an item no matter how many crates you unlock.
If you're really going to just hand-wave away the idea that gambling of any kind can exploit people than that's up to you but it's very very inaccurate. You seem to be saying that not everyone is an addict but that really doesn't mean anything, and it certainly doesn't make this a good system anyway.
I would ask you to consider at least that of the many options available to Blizzard here this is a terrible terrible one. There's no reason to defend it, they could simply add them in a way that isn't so clearly exploitative. They don't need to add straight up gambling, they are so many other ways the game can be supported.
Oh man, straight to the apologist playbook. Yes, assert that posters who disagree with you are having some type of extreme emotional response. Pretty sure most people here are capable of shaking their heads at a poorly-designed promotion and capable of holding back their tears at the same time, somehow...

That's a good question... could be limited time for matchmaking and then forever available in custom games.
People were spending money to save up credits... prior to knowing what they'd be able to buy with said credits... despite the fact they could have just waited to see? Mkay.
Coatless Mei?
Yes, Lord.
Edit: Sprays? Aw.
They raise a good damn point. Why do that? Especially with people saying they've got everything they want already.Oh come on now. You're really going to reach this far to make Blizzard the good guy in all this?
Yeah, and I didn't say your odds increased. I said you're opening crates at a faster rate.
Look here, not everyone being an addict means not everyone is being exploited. Addicts need to take care of their craving, everyone else just really wants it. And caving to your desires doesn't mean you were exploited.
It's even worse, Overwatch isn't a free-to-play game, Hearthstone is.
Can't believe some are defending this, or saying, lol it's just cosmetics.
Baffling.

The anger here is stupid.

No matter what system is in place, someone would be disadvantaged. Random drop crates are bad for addicts, buying skins directly is bad for people who do shopping "therapy", letting you buy credits instead is bad for people who hoarde items and want everything and fast.Surely it's reasonable to expect them to design a system in which no one is being exploited? Why should anyone be exploited at all? Again they are so many other options they could take. It doesn't have to be like this. There are so many other systems that could be used there's just no reason to defend this.
Because they expected better of Blizzard than to suddenly remove the ability to buy things with coins. Since you can buy coins through loot crates then they had no reason to think something like this would happen. I've seen a lot of people saying they're saving up coins for future skins.
Well, it is a ridiculous thing to do regardless of Blizzard being a good guy/bad guy. Who would spend real money to maybe get gold coins that they might be able to use to get items that they might want in a future release. It makes no sense, especially since they could buy those boxes at any time.
So fatassgaf is offended because its sports related and gamblingadditgaf is offended cuz its more to spend money on. Did i miss anything?
Toss off with the "aplogist" stuff. The words being used in this thread are pretty extreme. Like, "a new low in microtrasactions"? It is in no way that bad. Event items that drop randomly with money to get more drops is a decade old for video games. Hell, what about Valve not doing anything about CS:GO betting systems for ages? You can't both have a thread deeming it "a new low" and also not compare it to similar games. The anger here is stupid.
If the skins are only those skins I don't see much of a problem. I also like how they are separating the items so they won't just clog up the regular loot boxes in the future. If I ended up getting a skin I'd probably use it for a bit but I don't see them being anything I'd use long term.
I'd like to see them do more like that though. Say Halloween and Christmas time. The idea of a santa Roadhog or Jack O Lantern Lucio is pretty appealing.
So what happens if you want a skin for a specific character? Have to keep unlocking chests and hope that you get it? That's the only way?

Yeah, your common sense. How childish and reductive can you get? Fatassgaf? Really? So fatassgaf is offended because its sports related and gamblingadditgaf is offended cuz its more to spend money on. Did i miss anything?
See above. They expected future skins to be unlock able the exact same way all skins except the pre-order skins were. Saving up coins doesn't mean they were buying loot rates explicitly to get coins either.

At this point, I'm just really curious to see how Blizzard hand-waves this away.
When you think about it, I'm sure that the IOC paid Blizzard to do this promotional event, and the fact that they turn around and fleece their players right after...
I'm sure their explanation will be comical at best.
