The International 2016 (Aug 3rd - 13th)

RTZ is a poison chalice, guys. Let it go.

So how 'bout that EHOME? 6-0 on the second day, 9-1 overall. iceiceice schooling fools all day long.

Was it ever explained why they got kicked? Because from a casual spectator point of view it seemed a monumentally stupid thing to do. Like, what are you hoping to achieve with it? Chances that you're gonna improve your team performance over the team that just won you a major is has to be absolutely miniscule.

Same reason EG booted Aui right after winning TI--RTZ is a very skilled player, and that attracts people. The running theory is that RTZ wanted to leave EG because he didn't get along with them, but wanted to keep playing with Universe, and Secret has always been a cut throat team picking up the best talent--chemistry be damned. I'm absolutely a believer that Secret should have kept w33 and Misery. That Shanghai lineup was amazing to watch.

Part of me also suspects RTZ really didn't get along with w33 or Misery so Secret went for Universe. Overall RTZ is clearly the toxic link--everywhere he goes falls apart...

secret management really need to start thinking about building a real team instead of this supposed all star line up they've been doing since secret 2.0 (the one with s4, kuroky, rtz)

teamwork is so underrated for some reason, and this is mindboggling considering this is a team game

I would say most of the teams doing "surprisingly well" are do so just because of better teamwork. You watch teams like TNC and Ehome, compared to teams like Secret and Fnatic and everything just clicks. It's the same with the current EG lineup versus the one with Aui as the position 1, it just looks a lot smoother.

do they really have management? i thought secret was more of a "give puppey a lot of money to do whatever he wants" kind of arrangement

Yeah, they're backed by a Turkish billionaire? (Millionaire??).

I think most teams it's the players that decide who they wish to play with, not management. They just happen to be able to with through whatever differences that have.

I think it's easy to forget how young some of these players are.

Seeing Secret flop is oddly satisfying

From Major winners to potentially two straight bottom 4 finishes. Best roster swaps ever

Yep, but I think it's most satisfying to watch that cocky shitbag Puppey lose. He sits on a throne of lies. Not to mention the whole cyborgmatt crap, that dude deserves failure.

Man it's hard being an Envy fan.

An Envy fan? You disappoint me greatly.

He's an indirect problem. He's taken up the role that EE once had, with EE now playing these roles which he clearly can't play well.

Like others have said, that's hardly a problem of the players. There should be some sort of management above that knows what each player is capable of and provides mean to make them work together. Instead it seems to be an aggregate of "super stars" (and bulba) for the sake of being an all-star team.

Funny thing is that Bulba and PLD, the ones constantly branded as the weakest links, are the most consistent so far, PLD especially has been performing admirably for the past 7 or 8 months.

I've had a hate-boner for Secret since their creation; they always seemed a little too mercenary, a little too focused on "big names" ahead of "coherent teams". Doubly so for RTZ. Seeing Secret do badly will always be a joy.

Oh I don't disagree. I don't see how my post is blaming the players, well outside of Puppey and his very questionable drafting despite the issue of having two greedy cores.

I can only laugh at the constant roster swaps involving Arteezy. Evil Geniuses had a TI winning team, and they messed it up by taking him back. Fortunately they've come to their senses and got a solid team back. Secret had finally found their feet with their new roster after winning a major and then decide, lets take RTZ back, despite us already having a very greedy core.

Their original team concept was interesting. Kky & puppey leaving to join fly n bdn with s4.

Seriously, never heard anyone cast Dota so rapidly and be so legible. A bolt out of the blue, have barely heard her cast.
