The International 2016 (Aug 3rd - 13th)

I mean, it could, theoretically, but let's not pretend that it ever would. It's the same team that's been awful for their entire current existence because they just sit around and let the other team run the game.

I absolutely expected them to tank with RTZ on Alch.

I'd say puppey is more to blame than EE.

Drafting a team based on illusions and physical damage while not banning ember and WW was just stupid.

MMY won that match.

lol.

This was a bottom bracket last-place elimination match.

That was a base race in the final game for the title. Of course nothing tops that.

standing on their own alliance keeps topping themselves with comebacks

they had that crazy win against megas vs liquid for the frankfurt major, then in the group stage there was that insane EG throw

in context nothing will top TI3 finals tho

i'd agree with this but honestly that buyback into immediate plunge back onto high ground and then not activating bkb might be two of the worst plays I've ever seen

but maybe it didn't really matter. i'm not really sure what secret's win condition was though. another kill on ember?

arteezy's early problems began the snowball as well but he played incredibly well later in the game. I really feel like he needs to go make his own team or something

I always wonder how players feel when teamates they left behind / kick (w33, Kuroky, etc.) achieve higher success than them with a different team. Maybe the problem wasn't them after all...

Well obviously they're not going to feel great about it. But hindsight's always 20/20. They had the chance to pick up the best 2 players at the time and went for it. Time and time again we've seen that you have to win as a team in Dota 2, and not on pure talent alone. To play devil's advocate, had Secret not made a roster change after winning the Shanghai Major (knowing now that w33ha wasn't quite working out, as EE has subtly suggested) and falters, their decision to keep the team together is going to be questioned as well.

Proud to announce Arteezy will be playing for my battle cup team this weekend. Just had to ask him first and he was in. We'll get knocked out first round, then you all can poach him for yours next week.

Glad LGD took it but sad for PLD, there's something about him that makes me want to see him happy and being praised for his play but he tends to get overshadowed or he does well but the team loses anyways.

Btw I haven't watched every single game that's happened thus far, have I missed any good clock play? I fucking miss that hero, especially played by bulldog and iceiceice.

yeah even if they'd kept winning fights secret would never have been able to push high ground against LGD

fully stacked ember spamming sleight is even harder to push against than that ridiculous illusion spam

The only problem with this is that EG will fuck over someone again to let him back in. And I reckon that would be Zai.

Fear retires, RTZ replaces him. RTZ bails for Envy or Puppey's next team after EG finishes second in a major. Fear returns.

Thus the RTZ-EG cycle continues.

Pretty Much

As always, the only thing that makes you look smart is winning.

Man, I make fun of casters and players too but I have at least some standards. The genuinely vile reactions some people have to these players is honestly disgusting. Fortunately there are only few comments like that here.

Except Maut right? He sucks.

can't believe Yames died for this

EE and Arteezy feel like such a horrible core duo, I mean I know they're friends but their play-styles don't seem to work together at all

They are also both known for being very emotional players as well, you don't want that instability to be clogged together on the same team, you don't want both your 1 and 2 positions to lose their temper on crucial moments.

Still, I believe the weakest link of the team to be EE, he can't handle himself under the slightest amount of pressure and starts making big mistakes for the team, same thing that doomed c9.
