I like being descriptive in the spirit of the moment.

"Hey I landed here too."
"Oh God it Burns." (Acid rain.)
"Eat Them Before They Eat You" (Planet full of Carnivore jerkfaces.)
"Jerkface" (Anything that attacks me.)

I've named creatures very cleverly, for example Pigsquirrel and Toucanasaurus. The planets in my system are named things like Farron, Firaga, and Justarok which will hopefully give future explorers an idea of what to expect on said planets. :D

Just picked up the limited edition in the netherlands and the PEGI rating is covered up with a 7+ sticker in two places :/ it's really ugly. I assume the rating was 12+ first and then changed after the boxes were already printed?

Edit: nvm, already found the topic

Is this the same for all limited editions? The normal versions have the correct sleeve.

So I'm convinced at this point that the Sents have different aggro levels depending on what planet you are on, in addition to their numbers. Some don't give a shit that you mine, some give a little shit (by doing that scanning thing, which is I assume a warning), and some give a hefty shit.

It's a true pain in the ass to find that out by trial and error. Luckily you can dodge them by sitting in your ship or going in a structure (which makes no sense to me, but whatever), but it's annoying if you aren't near those areas.

And apparently, if you do happen to get one of those more aggressive Sents, have fun getting jumped for picking flowers. I took a valuable bulb from plant, and I instantly got shot up to three stars. Whether it was a glitch or because of the plant itself, I dunno, but if it's the latter, that's stupid - you'd have no idea until you collected it.

I feel like certain things in NMS are great but just aren't executed well when put into practice.

Yup. This is stupid. I really think the whole Sentinal thing is broken. Force player to mine resources to fly and get off planet. Make mining said resources enrage Sentinals. I don't think they add anything to the game personally. Would be completely fine without those fuckers.

Not leaving my starter planet until I complete the damn Discovery list... I think I have one more thing to find, but I cant seem to find it.

I don't get what the bug is, haven't read on it tbh. When I got rid of my dlc ship I just had to do the whole warp drive quest thing even though my new ship had a warp drive.

Not leaving my starter planet until I complete the damn Discovery list... I think I have one more thing to find, but I cant seem to find it.
Yeah that's one thing that pisses me off. It's happened to me in all the planets I've gone to, I'm just missing one thing and I can't seem to find it. I've scanned new species but it doesnt update the discovery list.

Sadly the sentinels play a major role in the endgame; this much I'm quite sure of. I don't like those little fuckers as well but they're essential for the survival of life on planets in NMS it seems.

Begun my new save. My new starting planet is much less threatening than my first, lol. It's hot, but less of a hellscape than that radioactive rock.

Gonna walk my dog and then hunker down, speed through the tutorial quests, redeem the stupid alpha vector again, and then get back on track. Please, fix this so that nobody else has to restart for such nonsense. Hear us Sean!

Forgot, I did find a completely dead planet last night, it was just lifeless rock and one trading post.

Let me know how this goes for you and how long it takes to "speed run" the tutorials on your planet.

Debating on if i should do the same. Only on my first system after maybe 3 hours but it is an EPIC system with planets that have tons of resources and wild life and nice 25C temps day/night. No predators and minimal Sents too. I spent about an hour figuring shit out and getting the tutorials (save for the hyperdrive of course) done.

Would hate to restart but there's been absolutely no word from HG on the bug.

I came across a planet with a ton of monoliths and named it "My God, it's Full of Stars".

That other thread is filled with posts about this.

I really like my starting planet (the whole system really) and want to do this, but also see more of the game. Can anyone attest to how easy it is to get back to your original star system once you leave?

Bummer. That's what i figured too. At least have them only enrage when killing animals or something. Let me mine away in peace.

I found two animals who looked vaguely like clickers so I was going to call them Joel and Ellie and a third I was gonna call Snubblesnout. I fucked up and called the Snubblesnout one Ellie and one of the Clickers Joe so I've sworn off naming anything else.

Can you grab the blueprint if you've switched to the preorder ship but you go back to your starting planet? I'm only one planet over and can easily fly back.

You can try scanning for manufacturing facilities from orbit. I believe that is where you get the blueprint from during the tutorial. I don't know if it needs to be your starter planet either.

Manufacturing facilities are the ones you need to break into.

If you think it will be too much of a pain searching for the right one, maybe it's best to do a reset.

Got the game today, played for a few hours.

I think I'll get rid of the game ASAP. The exploration is tedious and inhibited by confusing menus and too much resource gathering.

I thought I'd be going wherever I wanted to without too much trouble and finding cooler stuff on planets. Giant snakes and the like.
...
Ummmm
Nvm

I put a bit of thought into naming systems and planets, but I don't really do anything with the animals.

A few times I've been thinking of names of planets/system, so I'll type it out just to see how it looks, then accidentally upload it. Kinda had to roll with it.

From the impressions, it seems they did not use procedural generation to enhance gameplay, but instead tried to shoehorn gameplay into their procedural generation.

How fun would the game be if it just took place on planet? How about just one solar system? If one solar system isn't fun, 1000000 wont be. No need to create complex algorithms, just stop right there.

Obviously fun is subjective and it seems like some people are really enjoying it. I just don't think creating a massive universe first and then trying to add fun to it is the right way to go.

To those further in? Does money become much more plentiful? Like if I'm on a somewhat rich planet should I bother grindingmining for say another couple million units or will I be better suited moving on because that amount of money will seem minute by my 4th system?

That head type is fairly common in my starter system. I've seen rat things, cow like creatures, and stegasaurs all with heads like that.

I did indeed. Bummer. I've already warped to the next solar system too. How do I obtain the blueprint?
IF you didn't build your own hyperdrive, you might have to restart over aka delete save files & everything because once you buy a new ship, you can't transfer the already made hyperdrive from the pre-order ship. And you can't build your own for your new ship w/out the hyperdrive blue-print which you'll get during the "tutorial" section of the game.

Acquiring the damn pre-order ship early, skips the whole tutorial section pretty much and you'll never acquire the needed hyperdrive blueprint. :(

100% agreed. Life forms I can understand but leave me the fuck alone when I'm mining minerals/elements lol.

I dont completely agree with you but... you've got a super solid point!

I had about that much in my 4th system. I have less than that now that I'm in my 8th system. I bought a ship last night. It looks like a cross between a bird and a TIE fighter.

Ah okay. Today's objective will be to find suit upgrades somehow.

In terms of hyperdrives: the LE comes with one.

My original solar system was garbage. Hardly anything on the planets and they all looked the same. Deleted the save to get the Atlas, and my new solar system is great with wide variety and I'm finding lots of cool things from trading hubs to manufacturing plants to derelict outposts that look like something out of "Aliens" and more, and plenty of intelligent aliens to communicate with. I spent nearly my entire session yesterday on one planet.

So I say it varies. I definitely want feeling it on my first save, but now I could hang out in my star system for a long time without getting bored.

This might be common knowledge, but it's been super helpful since I realized it...

If you are looking for a galactic market terminal on a planet, just look for a
landing pad
. Guaranteed terminal.

If you DID build a hyperdrive from blueprints you're fine, you'll be able to do so on a new ship you buy if it doesn't have a hyperdrive.

I only want to complete the Discovery list for my starter planet because I'm just plain greedy, I want that cash bonus.

Definitely helpful tip for new players, thanks. I'm gonna concentrate on finding suite upgrades today and units probably. Gotta farm like crazy though and make bypass chips to sell(?)

Look for those towers that require a bypass chip. Use the towers to locate shelters and outposts. Quick way to get blueprints

So i keep finding these high value green trade items from various species, they occupy one slot and can't be stacked which is so stupid. Is there a way to sell them anywhere on the planet?

Goddamn it...i saw that the package was delivered but it wasn't delivered at all not at my neighbours that guy didn't even leave a message from 'hey i was at your house and you where not there' unbelievable and he didn't even bother to go to my neighbours house to deliver it there, now i have to wait until tomorrow or next week pathetic. Sure i do have the PC version this friday but i wanted to play the PS4 tonight.

Got the game and am pleasantly surprised so far after a bit of skepticism. It's just a very different experience from everything else (that I've played) on the market today. Just a few hours in but I'm definitely interested.

Just wish there wasn't so much pop-in, it kills the immersion pretty badly when you're flying your ship over the surface of a planet. Oh well though, nothing deal breaking.

Find a fairly large base with a landing pad. Those usually have a terminal inside that gives you access to the Trade Network.

Also, if you happened to transfer stuff from your chacter to your ship, and the stuff on the ship you want to sell, make sure your ship is close enough to the base (optimally, on the landing pad itself). If you're too far away from the ship, you won't be able to access the ship inventory to sell its stuff.
