No Man's Sky |OT| Hello Worlds.

I've been to two planets so far that were 75-80% water, one was cool and very peaceful - the other was just straight scary. Everything on the second one attacked me instantly for mega damage, and the waters were packed with huge underwater space Graboids (they looked just like em)

That sounds awesome!

Prioritize things that you know you're going to be needing to recharge/refuel with frequently (i.e. Plutonium, Thamium9...though you can get away with ditching Plutonium in a real pinch since it's quite abundant in most places) and elements that you know you're going to need to use to craft an upgrade or something soon. I like to carry around some slightly rarer elements like copper and iridium in my ship just because you can go long stretches without seeing them, but that's up to you. And generally try to sell anything labeled as a "trade commodity" (typically green items) whenever you can.

If you want to start expanding your exosuit as quickly as possible, start looking around planets for
those beacons with the orange lasers coming out of the top of them, and use a bypass chip (a super cheap and easy craftable) to search for Shelters. These will take you to drop pods that have exosuit inventory upgrades. The first is free, and the price goes up 10,000 units for every one after that. If you find a couple valuable items to sell and focus on hunting for those drop pods (they're all over the place), you can expand your inventory pretty fast.

Shelters are not guaranteed to have exosuit upgrades.

My first 'no man's sky' adventures are pretty actually pretty horrible.

Got the game, installed it, played for 8 hours straight, then i fly into a tree and my ship gets stuck, at the point where it totally freaks out and starts damaging the ship, i die and the game reloads...

placing the ship on a rock high in the sky.

impossible to reach by jetpack at first sight, i spend a good 10-15 minutes jumping from a nearby slope, just missing it by a few centimeters every time.

then suddenly i make the jump and land on the floating rock.. HAPPY TIMES.

so i enter the cockpit and i cannot fly away because my drive is broken.. and needs the usual repair stuff, including 200 heridium .

Which is nowhere to be found. like, really , nothing. nowhere. Everything but heridium

wandered around for a good hour looking for it, till i notice my ship is, wel ,an hour away from me :D. i tried a few things, like dying and hoping my ship would spawn next to me, but nopes.

Absolutely crushed by this, i deceide to delete my savegame and start a new adventure.

So i enter on a brand new planet, and somehow, i find even more interesting things to figure out and to visit, than the previous 8+ hours, on an even more beautiful planet than the one generated the first time, and somehow, it plays out totally different then my first try, different races, different monoliths and stuff.

god i love this game.

Would love (and fear) running into huge creatures like this.

He confirmed large creatures during the AMA, but wants to leave that up to the player to discover them.

The reality is, it wouldn't be difficult to implement a scalar along with the procedural generation to create creatures both small and large.

Okay, something like 7 hours as soon as the disk entered the PS4.

I've learned 32 Gek words, I have over 600k credits as well as buying a new Multi-Tool with plenty of upgrades. I haven't even hyper-jumped to a new star system yet. I've discovered about 3 planets and a moon. I have so many Gold and Emeril resources readily available on 2 planets that I have nearby, that I'm hoping is very profitable in a new star system so I started to grind them for myself to get a lot of credits.

I've almost discovered all creatures and fauna on the planets I've visited and I'm having so much fun.

This game has already lived up to hype. I am still disappointed with the terribly low FOV, which I notice more than any other game I've played with low FOV. The frame-rate I am still salty about. The pop-in can be bad at times but it doesn't bother me so much.

For the resources, I do the exact same thing. Started to figure that out a few hours in. Creatures were finding me copper, lol, and I seen random 'Stargate' shaped rocks of Iridium around the planet as well. Still on starting planet.

I have been finding them
The old fashioned go to '?' way, lol. But the bypass chip method... do you start with that, or do you need to get that BP somehow?

I'll add to this that you don't have to worry about Thamium9 either. Just jump into space and shoot the asteroids. You'll have all the T9 you could ever hope for.

Yeah, this is true. I tend to forget about the little asteroids most of the time. :D

I think you start with it, if I remember right. It's like 10 iron and 10 plutonium or something, i.e. next to nothing.

Jesus. If I find the Suspension Fluid formula I could see getting that much, but needing to constantly buy stuff wears it out fast.

Wait, you're talking about the green ball that sells for 1100? Man, you have more patience than I do, they don't stack so it would take ages. I like farming Eridium (I think that's the name) instead, 66k each 250 stack.

Any one having a lot of crashes?

I have crashed

when warping to a new system
Opening up the discoveries screen (options menu) and has been causing the most crashes
Crashed exiting planets atmospheres

funny, I shoot them constantly The fact that mining in space is actually viable is one of my favorite things about this game. It's perfect for just chilling, even playing while watching/listening to stuff. Unless peeps beam in to attack you of course then things get stressful.

Sad to hear about all the people affected by the pre-order hyperdrive bug. Sony probably should've lent Hello some QA staff, because this is the kind of thing that would've been caught by a good QA.

I played until 5am last night, and I'm already ready to jump back in, if I didn't have to try to work. It's not that this game doesn't have some real issues (i.e. UI, movement feel, crashes, FOV are all bad), it definitely does, but I'm having such a great experience in spite of them.

One thing I got stuck on when I stopped playing is obtaining a warp cell. I built a hyperdrive, an alien gave me antimatter, and now the game tells me to craft a warp cell. But I don't have a blueprint for that. I spent a couple hours going to outposts trying to find one, but no luck so far. Where are you supposed to find one?

You start with the recipe, it only requires a few basic resources to craft.

I think you start with it, if I remember right. It's like 10 iron and 10 plutonium or something, i.e. next to nothing.

Holy shit... after 6 hours of playing (went by fast) and had to sleep for work... this changes everything. Whoa! (I think my suit is fully upgraded at the moment with 20 slots.)

Also, the Gek Charms, Daggers, and other Green Trade items, are those just for selling, or
do they actually serve have a trade bonus purpose?

Sad to hear about all the people affected by the pre-order hyperdrive bug.

Someone confirmed the BP's pop back up as a quest if you buy or salvage a ship without one. So maybe it is intended.

Any one having a lot of crashes?

Installed game and patch last night, rebooted PS4 (as a measure) and did not crash once in 6 hours of playtime last night.

Try 'rebuilding database'... that sometimes can fix issues like that.

Two or three, one loading a save, one random and I can't remember if I had a third or not.

How do you destroy Heridium? My Multitool is doing nothing on it and I need 200 to repair the ship right at the start.

IGNORE ME I had the Multi Tool in the wrong mode!

Moving on........

While I haven't found this, I ran into something that may be related design wise. A creature kept running off and turning into a smoke trail (as if it dug into the ground). However, it may have just been a glitch and it was walking on the other side of a cave surface. Not sure...

So I just started last night and am still wandering around my crash site having fun exploring a nearby cave system.

As soon as I started, I did redeem all of my bonuses from the limited edition codes, including the new fancy ship.

I've seen a few comments talking about some sort of bug when redeeming this ship?

Will I for sure encounter this bug? I've only been playing for an hour, so should I just restart? Sad if I do, as I think my starting planet is fascinating to explore.

Thanks,

Nicko

I can confirm I have a ship with no hyperdrive, no hyperdrive BP, and no quest related to it (other than make more warp fuel constantly popping up and mocking me lol). Have been so for about 8-10hrs of gameplay

Good to hear there's a solution, though I'd still consider it a bug that the Alpha Vector doesn't trigger the hyperdrive quest. Many have just given up and wiped their save.

Some people have been. I haven't had a single crash, nor my roommate, in a combined 20 hours, but we haven't left our starting systems yet.

So, I just fired up the game. I'm on the first planet after warping to my second system. Decided to take a chance and feed one of the wild life. Bingo, happy treasures, not in huge quantities but it'll help with a more powerful hyperdrive plan I found. I got some Iridium, and chrysonites.

Animal will point out small nuggets with a green exclamation point.

How to properly place upgrades.

Notice the color coding. Each upgrade has to be next to, or connected to OTHER upgrades next to the main component.

I finally started this game today. I loved my starting planet. Actually I loved my whole starting system. It was 2 planets and 1 moon. The moon was pretty enough that I finally named something besides the system. So if you guys ever find a system called Amethyst with a pretty moon named Merydia, it was mine :D.

I only intended to play for an hour or so, but I lost track of time and ended up going for like 5 or 6.

Before I quit, I:
-got a 10 slot multi-tool with incredible mining ability and the 2nd tier combat damage upgrade
-got a few exosuit inventory slots
-moved onto the adjacent system, which has a different alien race than my starting system which makes me sad because I wanted to keep working on my affinity with the Gek.

I love this game. It's so damn relaxing. It's the perfect thing to lose myself in when I don't want to think too hard. Hell, I had an audiobook going for a few hours while I played and it wasn't an issue playing and focusing on the book's story at the same time.

Had one crash and that was when I warped to the second system and I had the game lock up my PS4, other than that I say I've been lucky. I do think a stability patch is needed though if it's happening this much for people.

Played about 2-3 hours. Freaking loving it. Most of the OT talk seems very positive but why is the review/impressions thread overly negative with only one review to talk about and generally positive impressions from the other sites listed?

Hmmm....

When I bought another ship and left the dlc one behind I still got the warp drive tutorial

Maybe pops up different for everyone?

Does anyone know if the pre-order bonuses are infinitely redeemable? aka non-consumable?

If I start a fresh save will I get to use the 10,000 unit and ship?

Thanks.

most people in here are playing the game while other threads seem to be mostly people looking for confirmations on why they think it's shit

Essential elements so far:

Plutonium for Launch
Thamium-9 for Pulse Jumps
Zinc, Titanium or Shielding Shards for Hazard Protection
Any isotope (Carbon, Plutonium, Thamium-9) for charging Life Support, Mining Tools and Weapons
Any Oxide (i.e. Iron) for your ship's Deflector

so the Most Units Accrued milestone...do you have to have it all at once? Or is it lifetime total. Cause I have about 1.2 mil and I'm wanting to buy a new ship. But if it's all at once I'll just wait until I get that and then spend it.
