Finally made it out of my starting system into the next one along.
I spawned on a frozen world and the rest of the system comprised of barren, irradiated and toxic planets and their moons. Except for one huge water world in the middle of the system.
My favourite moment in the game so far is standing on a tiny moon, looking up at this huge blue planet engulfing the entire sky. I love this game.

Does anyone else want to strangle someone/something when they have 1 species left to find, and it's clearly the birds flying overhead - but you can't scan them?
I literally spent two hours last night (through multiple storms and a handful of sentinel attacks) hopping between two tall bluffs, trying to get close enough to a flock of a dozen birds to scan them.
I tried shooting them for a while, but when they are circling themselves over and over, hitting one is effectively impossible.
I eventually moved on to a neighboring planet, hoping that bird scanning gets patched at some point.

Oh man, thank you. I must've been so tired at the end of my session last night that I was trying to do Install Technology instead of crafting. I jumped in real quick just now and was able to craft the warp cell. Went and checked out an alien ship in the station and it now has a hyperdrive. So I guess I'm past the bug of doom now, and can switch to the pre-order ship?
p.s. the reason I didn't know about electron vapor is because an alien handed me some antimatter, I never had to craft it.

Marker is underwater. Far from any shore. Landmasses are barren, no resources whatso ever...

Man, i had a similar dude (six legged though) hunting me in a cave. Fucked up thing was... He had the whole spider thing going on! Crawling up walls and ceilings, legging all around me, calling in all good bros, you name it! And of course my beginner bolting gun didn't do jackshit...
So remember kids, when an enemies has the attribute "stalking", don't mess with him !

Can someone explain to me what the preorder ship issue is? I've spent a good amount of hours unlocking stuff already, but haven't left the planet. Am I going to have an issue when I get my preorder ship? What exactly happens?

Yeah you should be good to go now. If you want, claim the preorder ship in a space station so you can immediately check another ship to make sure it has a hyperdrive waiting to be bought

Yep. I've been booted all the way up to geosynchronous orbit distance multiple times. Pretty annoying.

ugh all the impressions coming out that this game is boiling down to be a resource mining game and very slow paced is so depressing. I'm 50/50 on getting the PC version or just waiting for deus ex later this month.
Kat at US gamer gave it a pretty bad 2nd day impression and ACG giving it a rent not buy.. seeing a lot of negativity about the game on facebook and youtube comments too.
I've been watching a lot of videos and everything just looks so samey and everyone's just mining rocks. I guess some people love it but it seems a very simple game outside of the graphics/tech innovations.

Bought a new ship. Probably should have waited until I could afford a better one but I spent everything I had on a ship with 4 more slots (19 instead of 15). I got an atlas pass plans from a space anomaly last night and the 2nd thing I opened with one had antimatter instead. Besides that though that planet kind of sucked. It was a planet with radiation with 0 things anywhere on it to recharge your suit. Kept having to hide in caves for it to recharge. There was no where to sell anything on the planet either so I was constantly messing with my inventory. Ended up getting 1,000 Plutonium, 250 Emeril and 250 Nickel before leaving. Have 2 warp jumps available and I'm going to probably give up faster before using the next one than I did this time.
Key component for fuel cell making for hyperdrive. 50 carbon

It's an absolute bummer that you can't turn off the HUD yet in this game. However, I had a go at making a quick timelapse type video from some of the planets I visited.

I just found a grave in an undiscovered system. What's that about?
It's super cheap to craft and used for antimatter. Buying it is an unnecessary expense once you have the blueprint.

Don't get too excited. The text, most of which isn't included here, is awesome but it's just generic text for station terminals. You'll see it a lot and won't find the body. Really disappointing.
I had that too, infact all my markers have been bugging out. Say im hours away no matter what. I've deleted the game, this crap along with the pre order mess isnt worth it. Im going to wait for a patch.

I wonder if the crashing issues are just a factor of the CPU being overworked. I hope not, because that would be pretty tough to fix unless they change the game.
