Star Wars: Rogue One Story Trailer

Lol. Discussing the appearance of actors isn't creepy. It's not like they are saying anything gross. Let them have their fun. You can talk about 6 year olds if you want.
Quoting to get your attention :P

As someone with experience shooting films, perhaps you could provide some insight about the cinematography in the trailer?
Maybe I'm talking out of my ass but it felt like we were much closer to the action, especially the imperial vehicles felt much bigger and more intimidating (that shot of the tie fighter hovering from behind for example had a menacing presence I don't think I've ever felt from a single tie fighter before, usually they're more cannon fodder). Is it perhaps due to a different choice of lense than what we're used to in the SW franchise?

Can someone remind me of the timeline of when this takes place?

By major weapons test I imagine they mean a Death Star test on a planet, and that kind of goes against the whole destruction of Alderaan from A New Hope.

I'm going to enjoy the shit out of this movie, but maybe that'll be a point here?

It is directly before the very first Star Wars movie.

Remember the plans that Lea had? Rogue One is about the people who got those plans.

Well there's clearly enough there to make a great trailer from!

Like the look. Still concenred at rumours and the dialogue/performances look a little uneven in the trailer alone: but if TFA is anything to go by so long as they nail the "feel" and the action it'll do alright BO wise.

I hope its a good character/dialogue film too though.

That looks great, what I really wanted from new Star Wars films. Not a fresh era but a fresh look and direction.

The dialogue is a bit obvious but hell, it's a Star Wars adventure. Acting seems fine.

Hope they choose a big guy that fills the Vader suit.

It's Spencer Wilding apparently. He's about 6ft 7.

It worries me that the trailers so far haven't communicated a single interesting character or story development. Just tone. For a 'story trailer' I feel no more enlightened as to any of that.

Visually this trailer looks fantastic. I don't know what to think about the story yet (the premise is cool though).

The Story is about getting the plans for the Death Star and that the Empire is full-blown that's it.

This isn't a story trailer. OP must have read the title of the film wrong or something haha

We knew that when it was announced, though. Story trailers usually tell you more than the basic premise.

And that's a mistake which most trailers do, you wouldn't need to see the movie then.

With this trailer I am pretty much satisfied, I don't need to see or get to know anything else anymore before seeing this movie.

This might just be the most beautiful looking Star Wars yet.
Vader reveal is line with what I expected, after all it is only August and there should be one more trailer, I guess late October/early November.

They gave me characters to latch onto alongside the money shots, though. As cool as it all looks, it doesn't really feel interesting yet.

I don't get how the TFA teasers and trailers gave you enough to latch onto Rey, Finn, Poe and Kylo but the two teaser/trailers and sizzle reel haven't done the same. We know much more about Jyn than we ever did about the TFA cast.

We did get some major returning characters in those trailers though. This is pretty much a new cast so it was always going to be a little different. This is the first time we've heard anything from Cassian, Chirrut, Baze, K2 etc.

What a weird shot to reveal Vader. Like we caught him while he was sitting on the toilet or something.

Would have been better to give us a full look at his face, or just play the breathing sound over a dark screen.

Lol, the fucking MRAs are already infesting the comment section
I doubt we'll see another debacle like Ghostbusters', though. Star Wars fans are very cognisant of female characters having strong/leading roles in the universe, particularly in the books.

Let them fester in their own miasmas.

I love how some just know the movie's dialogue is going to be shit judging it from a couple of lines in a fucking trailer.

Goddamn.

> Insert female-lead hatred here.
> Insert crap-CGI here.
> Insert shit-performance here.
... and the list goes on.

It's a trailer.

Loved the trailer. Different mood and beautiful scenery.

4 months. It's gonna be a long one.

Someone actually said the "good" line was bad, like, how.

I mean, if they released a home video of George Lucas playing in a bubble bath as the trailer, are we supposed to give them the benefit of the doubt because it's just a trailer? Of course people are going to be more or less sure of a movie's quality when carefully constructed snippets of the movie are not pleasing them. Yeah, it's not like you should be coming to conclusions on whether the movie itself is good or bad or not, but people seem pretty fair in there complaints.

Yeah that part is great.

Jesus Christ, TFA haters will complain about even the well executed scenes. Relentless bitching about things that aren't even a problem.

Tfa hate has reached a critical level of stupid. Movie did almost everything right for a soft reboot and that task was not a simple or easy one. Also based on the immense amount of eu books i have read (nerd!) i would say stopping a bolt in midair, though it looks more impressive, would not be nearly as hard as absorbing all that energy. Even Jedi masters had issues absorbing large amounts of energy and vader does it no prob. Kyle is more about flashy demonstrations while vader does simple.

Visually I'm loving what I'm seeing, this looks even better than Force Awakens.

But the dialogue in the first 30 seconds seems kind of wooden? Though it's not something you could always portray well in a trailer so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt there.

Someone actually said the "good" line was bad, like, how.

I think it's the delivery from the lead actress. Everything she says (in both trailers) sounds bad.
I dunno what it is about her but her delivery is both wooden and cheesy. Almost like he's putting on a obviously fake accent. It's hard to describe but I tnink the access is no good.

YES!

The dialogue is fine. Feels like a Star Wars movie.

To me ... it always comes across as : "WEEEEEHHH! I didn't get what I wanted in the trailer! This movie is gonna suck" ... but they'll go see it anyway. Isn't that what a trailer is actually supposed to do?

Perhaps I view trailers as they are? Giving us a glimpse of what's to come. That means that the CGI can be a little rough, the dialogue could originate from a different take and the music might be a place-holder. A trailer isn't a complete movie now is it? How the fuck can anyone judge a movie based on 2 minutes? I sure as hell can't.

Everyone is entitled to voice their own opinion but on what fucking ground? A line delivery?

"Good!" ... "...good"
THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO FUCKING SUCK.

"Darth Vader. What a shit reveal! Like he's on the toilet or something!?"
And if they showed him completely the comment would be like;
"Darth Vader! What a shit reveal! I wished they would just show his helmet. Like he is sitting on the toilet"

People love to hate. I mean, how the fuck can you judge a movie based on 1 fucking line? Makes no sense to me. If you want great dialogue, watch a Tarantino movie. Star Wars isn't known for great dialogue.

Thought the trailer was pretty good but kinda feels like 5-6 main characters at this point , hopefully they have enough time to get their back stories explained

But no Dash Rendar means this is a 5/10 ;)

Just show Vader killing them all at the end or holding them prisoner after they deliver the plans , which would mean they get blown up by Luke
Evil ending >:)

As someone whose favourite movie franchise is Star Wars I-VI by a significant margin, this looks to me like someone made a generic sci fi movie with Star Wars props, even moreso than The Force Awakens did. In unfortunate and I suspect at this point inevitable lieu of Lucas, I really wish Disney would hire someone who gets how this series works visually.

I'll wait 'til someone lends me a copy.

Seems like this is the first SW movie where flashbacks are a key storytelling component.

ugh
