It would help if they would stop promoting it like amateurs. The Sony conference was Noctis just getting punched in the face for two minutes straight until suddenly it launched into a QTE segment. And that's all we have to go on for where development is currently at.

That stage demo, E3 trailer with weird ass dubstep, and especially Platinum Demo almost made me wanna be a complete pessimist towards the game.

But as you know nothing stops the hype train for me. :P

You guys are seriously the champions at being incredibly overdramatic over random rumors. One, I am 99% sure this is baloney (like most rumors/leaks), two, even if it's true, a delay is only good news. Yes it sucks, yes I'll whine a little myself, but I'll be thankful for it if the end product is great. Though I doubt this is true because a month delay is kind of useless, but I'm not a gaming development expert to say for sure.

It's a disaster if it's not ready for launch, and apparently it's also a disaster that they would have two additional months to address those issues.

See? That logic doesn't make any sense.

A two months delay is not going to save a game that's been in development for a decade (high and low peaks, don't @ me with excuses).

It is what is.

It really cracks me up that people think this delay is about redesigning the game in 2 months LOL

This is obviously polish time and probably getting the Neo port ready as well.

Can someone make a gif of the Uncovered event when the release date was revealed as 11/30, then rolls to 9/30, then edit the footage to rewind back to 11/30 with some kind of trolling face?

Lol. Love this logic.

"This rumor can't be true, I'm certain it's bullshit!!!!"

"But errr... erm... if it IS... it's only GOOD news!"

...Is it not? A little more time cooking in the oven is always a good thing. Obviously that says a bit about the development process... but I'm just trying to put a positive spin on it.

I'm not worried either way.

I think the hype isn't quite as bad as it seems, but it's not good, either. It needs a real boost. Nothing Square has done -- nor, I dare predict, can do -- will give it the edge it needs to be on ultra-mainstream minds at this point.
I mean, FFXIII and XIV did its best to damage the brand

Remember the good times?

I mean, FFXIII and XIV did its best to damage the brand

Honestly, I think it all started with FFXII. Highly anticipated, multiple delays, loss of a fan favorite director in the process, and the year it was finally released, S-E tripled down with the FFXIII FNC announcements. All of which got delayed, two of which changed platforms and titles, and the two which did make it out got middling reception. While all that was happening, they went through the FFXII issue again with FFXIV but worse. They had to reboot a MMO post-launch and can the leads. The problems facing the FF brand have been on public display since the PS2 era, and it's been much more than just ten years now. Somehow it keeps getting worse.

Apparently Nomura is the creator of FNC, but I'm not sure if he had any big input on how the games were developed. I wonder what made them think they could do all of that at once without looking internally. It's gotta be their ego and sense of pride. It's kinda hilarious.

God I hope kh3 is another game I need to let go off finally two closures

Eh, I don't put the two in the same place even if FFXV was re-revealed at the same time as KHIII....YET.

KH3 is on UE4 and they obviously were going to release the new remasters with that KH3 prologue thing before it (a demo which apparently performs really well both in graphics and performance from those E3 impressions), so I think it's a different situation.

Maybe they new it'd happen all along and this was a hint

OUCH!

Guess everyone who went with "I won't believe it's coming out until it's in my hands" was right.

Classic corpy management

And diehard fans like me keep feeding the beast. XV better be good...

I think you mean Nojima?

People still believe though! FF is a huge brand! 5 million copies sold EZ!

O I wasn't comparing development. Just been waiting for a proper kh3 for just as long as ffxv(actually I didn't get hyped as much for 15 until it became 15

I think you mean Nojima?

Watch the press conference when the three FNC projects are announced (RIP Haeresis). The transcript says that Nomura is the creator of FNC. Was surprised seeing that.

I could be misremembering, or that transcript could be wrong entirely.

EDIT: It says "creator behind the FNC project". That likely refers to just Versus, then. They could have been a bit clearer, though.

Nojima drew up the basis for FNC, not Nomura.

They weren't prepared for the shitshow that was CELL and HD development. Their White Engine couldn't hack it and they had to halt production on their other projects just to get their flagship title out.

I looked up "delusional" in the dictionary and found this post.

lol

Yeah I mean, people use this excuse but the game conceptually began as VSXIII. Even the announcement trailer had the VSXIII logo and wiped it into XV. The wait for VSXIII carried over into "XV" proper. That cannot be disputed.

I like to think of FFXV as a restoration mod project by a brand new team of fans using leaked assets of a cancelled game, that got official funding to completely remake the game and actually finish it.

If I were to let the passion of the moment o'er take me, and, in the heat of my (no doubt) transient irritation trade out my avatar for another top-five 20th century author, it would have to be this guy.

He's not wrong. The current XV doesn't have much to do with the original Versus concepts anymore.

At the same time, it still has to do a lot with the original Versus concepts. Like, was Duscae a part of Versus? Who the hell knows. We didn't see shit. I see what we did see of Versus everywhere in the game, even when parts are stripped away and probably replaced with something else.

No fan of FF would make a game with that crappy combat.

Not Nomura, Nojima.

Nojima was the writer who originally created and wrote the mythos though he hasn't lead written any of the games so far, until what was going to be the original version of Versus, though I think he's only credited with original story since they made all of the changes.

I wouldn't mind if it was delayed, September is a killer already with 7 other games on order for me besides FF XV. And then PSVR in October...

Completely ridiculous to say. It's the same concept. Just without the Nomura flair.

They completely changed the story and several characters along with other things central to the visual style of Versus. Some base concepts are still in the final game but personally, a lot of what made Versus so appealing seems to have been stripped away.
