Very true sadly.

It doesn't have to be that way though if Sony made an effort to market the game properly and give it a fighting chance. Going by how fabulous much of the footage for GR2 looks, I honestly think there's some mainstream appeal there, but Sony won't get the game out there for folks to see. It's genuinely disheartening stuff.

Watch them not even bother to put GR:Remastered on PS+ a couple of months prior to 2's release.

Infamous: Second Son is trash compared to GR. Hell, I bet GR2 will be better than Spiderman PS4 but guess what? GR is still the one with the niche fanbase. GR is just so dang good and GR2 is looking to surpass it. But I'll shut up. This isn't the Gravity Rush thread.

(If true) I imagine the higher ups were not too pleased when the development team stated that they needed more time. September 30th was a relatively safe date, whilst late November throws the game into something that many consider a chaotic period.

Titanfall 2 - Oct 28
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition - Oct 28
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare - Nov 4
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered - Nov 4
Dishonored 2 - Nov 11
Gran Turismo Sport - Nov 15
Watch Dogs 2 - Nov 15

Perhaps it could also work in its favor, as many might trade in some of these games towards XV.

This delay is fucking ridiculous. Im sorry but were so close and they push it back another two months? they shouldnt have hyped up their release date announcment if they couldnt stick to it. I gave no mans sky the same shit.

Arkham Knight was delayed at the same time for a month I guess

Better than Spider-Man? Chillllll

Umm, have you paid attention to the industry in the last 3 or 4 years? Almost every game gets at least a small delay.

Witcher 3, Arkham Knight, Persona 5, Zelda were all delayed MULTIPLE times. Persona 5 missed its original dates by a couple of YEARS,and you know what? Im glad they did, that game looks amazing and im glad that they care enough about it to spend all the extra time on it.

Square Enix is only delaying it 2 months, and there's an extra platform being added to the game in that time span (neo). You guys are making way to big of a deal out of this.

Dude you quoted 15 words and still couldn't be bothered to read them. SMH

All the games you mentioned don't have a press conference/party/event to announce the date, do they?

This game was announced in 2006. CD projekt has released 3 Witchers in the time-frame it took Squeenix to release this game.

We're working with a different scale here altogether

I'm all for delaying for quality, but after the rollercoaster Vs XIII now FFXV has been on, and the huge deal they made out of finally having a release date, having to break it reeks of bad management.

Delay happens, sadly. When Witcher 3 got delayed I was actually happy: I know how good CDPR is, and I prefer a delayed, awesome game instead of a rushed D1 buggy release.
What is hilarious here is the fact SE kept FFXV release date secrets for months, hyping people with the Unveiled event, renting a whole theatre to host it...and guess what, two months delay (if true, of course, not yet confirmed).
If they simply announced a date on Twitter, on E3 or whatever without wasting money on that event, I bet the delay wouldn't be a big issue. As it is now, the only thing I can say it's SE can't plan their moves, like at all.
They already showed it several times in the past (LR PC port was released like 7 months after without a word about the delay if not much later, Type 0 popped out of nothing in a MSI event, FFIX was "almost" released what, four times, and than moved back without a word, Deus EX Augment your Preorder or whatever was called died out of nothing, the recent Hitman bonus episode issue in which people can't buy the unannounced bonus if not much later in the future, without a word about this bonus episode in the official plan), if a delay happens it's just a confirmation of this, SE doesn't know how to handle their company.

I feel like if it got delayed this late in the game it's a bad sign.

Game development is pretty fucking hard. You never know what kind of thing pops up at the last minute. Two months is practically nothing as far as delays go. That's usually a sign that it's not like something is majorly wrong, but more that there's some kind of unaccounted-for problem that only popped up at the last minute, usually technical.

Uncharted 4 announced its second delay mere weeks after the Playstation Experience when they doubled-down on its March release date.

Shit happens in development. Taking time to work on it is unfortunate, especially after a big event, but it's nothing to be ashamed of considering software development is notorious for being unpredictable as sin. If they delayed the game for 6 months because the story wasn't done, then that'd be a big issue. Delaying a game for a couple months to iron out technical problems is like the exact opposite of bad management. We want games to be as polished as possible. It would be lionized otherwise.

god this is funny......you think Gamenesia would get the clicks.....guess who actually shows up in recent news when you google final fantasy XV

hahahaha its kind of funny to me tbh

If this company were smart, they could easily earn forgiveness.

On september 30th, put the titan demo on PSN/Xbox Live.

Announce a new pre order bonus: Alpha final fantasy VII remake demo, even if it's far from finished people would love to play it.

Announce a PS4 NEO bundle that includes a special PS4 NEO with final fantasy XV markings/paint style, include the game and the FFVII remake demo. Maybe even a special controller thrown in.

Be open and honest about why the game was delayed, performance issues? Waiting on final NEO specs? What is the actual reason?

Do all of the above, and people will get over it quickly.

Plenty of folks don't understand that an in-progress demo can be completely misrepresentative of the final product -- and all it takes these days is one or two prolific YouTube personalities and a badly-sourced media article to turn tens of thousands of fans into angry misguided sorts. If anything's playable right now with regard to FFVII, it would be, as you say, far from finished... and considering the backlash over Duscae's framerate, hitboxes, camera, et al, Square shouldn't want to deliver a similar work-in-progress first look at their golden goose.

The Titan demo? You crazy?

Well with how great squares marketing has been with demos lately......we would probably get something completely garbage like the platinum demo and just hate everything about it. Only thing that is even in the final game of the platinum demo was the gameplay as adult noctis.....so you got to experience 2-3 minutes of real shit.

Square has not been good at all lately with presenting gameplay for the game.

Now Duscae on the other hand.......I wasted 50+ hours on it lol, more than type O by far

The Titan demo sucked, you don't want to release that demo to the public and they don't have the time to fix it or make an other demo when they have to finish the game.
Final Fantasy VII remake is just not ready.
Bundles with Neo, Slim or whatever will likely be made but those would have happened in any case delay or not.
They might give an incentive for those who have already preordered the game though.

They'll be forgiven if it turns out to be a great game come November. People won't care there was ever a delay, pretty sure they'll even completely forget about it because the wait period is over and the game is in their hands, like with any other big release.

You don't see people still upset over Uncharted's delay.

Or they could do nothing, and people will get over it. The ones so greatly affected by this are obsessed fans who will buy it regardless.

Also FF7r alpha demo, good one.

It still sorta blows my mind how many assets were probably crafted specifically for Platinum Demo. Unless the party gets Mini cast on them and ends up in a house, all that stuff was envisioned, blueprinted, deliberated, and generated for marketing purposes only. And yet despite it all, Duscae manages to be a much better demo. >_>;

They should temporarily pause development and work on another demo, a few new cg trailers and a barrage of announcements.

What was wrong with the titan demo? I know the microsoft stage demo was borked but I heard the actual stage demo was great.

As for VII remake, I recall episode duscae being well received for the most part, most people understood it was a very early work in progress. Release it with that understanding being made clear.

Btw I know both are extremely unlikely to happen, I'm just saying I think that would vastly combat backlash and turn the delay into a positive.

Well iirc only a tiny fraction of the team worked on the demo, and the amount of assets specifically crafted is actually minimal imho, even those toy blocks were used before for tech tests purposes.

A plenty of games this gen did the same after announcing the release date:

Bloodborne
Witcher 3
Uncharted 4 (2 times)
No Man Sky

To name a few. Why the drama?

Ahh, okay. Admittedly I wasn't around as much when the demo released. Wasn't as keen on details therein.

Backlash will always be present, catering and allocating resources elsewhere is a waste of time. Just do what you gotta do outside noise be dammed.

It's pretty simple: Heavily anticipated game for the past 10 years + one (1.5) month to release + one mega conference to announce the game's date = disgruntled fans.

10 years in dev something something

The distractors seem more mad than the actual fans.

None of these games interest me at all (except GTS which i'm moderately interested). I wonder if i'm in the minority among FF fans.

As bad as many people say this game looks, there sure are a lot of posts (interest) in this thread. 36 pages?

Many of us just want the game out already so we can move on with our lives and so SE can announce FFXVI directed by Itou to assuage us that everything will be okay and the ten year Fabula Nova Crystalis nightmare is finally over.

That means they have to make a Neo version too right?

That was always confirmed for late sept games. The question is will they put serious effort into the Neo patch... Or just call it a day with 30fps/1080p? Personally I just want that IQ right on the Neo and I'm happy.

Can't wait for sept 7 and hear out Sony's plans.

They already had to provide a Neo update since it was a late September title by a software update. Starting October 1st the ''Neo mode'' needs to be on the game disc.

Imagine if the Neo was cause of this XD
