That is the same exact thing I did. I went from SDF1 to Plus to Do You Remember Love. After that Delta blew my fucking brain. After going back and watching the older shows and experiencing the gradual bat shit escalation, though Frontier isn't too bad at all in this regard I got a lot more accustomed to Delta. Delta's not my favorite, but after getting used to it it's not too bad at all.
Best parts of M7 are the Basara x Gamlin broship, the soundtrack and Miria and Max's half dead relationship. Seeing Miria tear Max's balls off right in front of his god damn crew is fucking god like.
Blame Ozma. I mean he probably gets it, but he's a big enough fan not to really care and just name the formations after fire bomber songs.

I actually compared M7 to ZZ Gundam. Though Basara and Domon are hot blooded as fuck. Imagine those two running into each other. Considering some of the shows I've seen, I truly envy you if this is indeed true. As someone who sat through both seasons of it, I guarantee that it's no SAO (which still somehow manages to fall short of the worst I've seen). At the same time, though, by no means taking issue with you simply for happening to dislike it.

I recall reading once that the objective with A/Z was to surpass Gundam. Though I didn't hate the show, it certainly fell far short of that.
I tried watching it years ago and then just stopped within about 10 episodes. Funniest thing to me about Aldnoah Zero is that the lead character just comes off as an emotionally defunct autistic serial killer.
