I feel like some of the facial feature changes were necessary to fit in more with the bearded look and I was wondering how that would look after the leaks. Nomura's Noct would have looked incredibly weird with a beard... To me it just looks more like a less anime version of Nomuras design, especially in the eyes and nose.

I don't really see the Lightning resemblance in Aranea. IMO she looks much more like Dani Daniels. It's the nose.

Because yet another exposed midriff is absolutely not boring. /s Old Noctis looks so much better holy shit. He looks less like an 18 year old anime character and dropped the perpetual genetic hair gel.
Other than the nose, it's recognizable as the same character.
The problem is that the face structure changes would be expected if he went from a teenager to a grown man, but Noctis is already an adult at the start of the game.

Out of these Nomura only designed the 4 main guys. Roberto Ferrari worked on the Dragoon, Gentiana and Ardyn.the word 'generic' does indeed come to mind...

Ferrari? Seems like the obvious choice since he's handling mostly everything else already.
Whoever redesigned Stella into Luna might be another good candidate.

Old Noctis's design is ridiculous. As in it deserves ridicule because it's so fucking absurd.
Unless there's something else that happens where he physically transforms, they didn't just age him, he's a completely different person. There's something screwey going on and I think the early leaks are leading us down the wrong path.
I'm waiting to see the final product at this point. I believe all of the development hell stuff, but this is currently irreconcilable with how human beings age. He might as well have grown a tail and wings.

Bigger and longer nose, broader mouth, sharper ears, the chin and the cheekbones are slightly more pronounced, the shape of the eyes was slightly changed and his skin has a lot more tan.
