I'll give them this much. The laughter this trailer got out of me when I realized it was a zombie survival game? Far more entertainment than the series has given me since MGS3. So there's that, but I don't quite think it'll hold up past the first trailer.

Its a $30 online game. It will probably have 5 minutes of narrative with a few nameless soldiers no one gives a crap about.

So you ARE saying it will have a better plot than MGSV.

But in all seriousness, I'm glad the FOX Engine is getting some use, but if it's online only I'll pass.

Gameplay was fucking amazing in MGSV so I would be a fool to count this game out on a childish whim. Hating Konami is too easy these days.

Also, MGSV never gave us coop missions that were present in PW, so I'm very much interested to revisit this godlike core gameplay in coop environment.
Yes, some of the best moments I had with MGSV gameplay were the zombies. I believe Metal Gear Survive will be no exception.

uhh hey guys lets make a coop zombie game.... they could have actually made a cool story around this lol and then made it go full circle by adding more story after mgs v like this guy comes back with a metal gear from the alternate dimension to attack venom snake who has set up his base of operations already for leaving him behind.

such a missed opportunity imo anyway i'm Uncertain, need to see more

MGS V didn't rely only on mechanics it had brilliantly designed highly replayable levels as well. I have zero hopes on konami to pull something like that especially after kojipro exit

It's basically another Federation Force- a game that's doomed to be reviled by fans less because of what it is and more because it's a scapegoat for fans' frustration with the parent company's treatment of the franchise. The game may not wind up deserving it, the developers most likely don't deserve it, but Konami sure as shit does.

The trailer had no dialogue and MGO characters. This is nothing like Kojimas 10 minute cinematic trailers. There is no way its going to approach a full MGS campaign. This company sold a 40 minute demo for $40...

I didn't say it would?

There are more options than no story or main entry metal gear story.

There has been one teaser trailer and a handful of details. Kojima isn't making this game, to expect what he has done before in regards to pre-release stuff to be applied to this is stupid.

We don't even know who is developing this. It's a bit early to completely write them off.

Why not make a co-op game set after Ground Zeroes, that ties into the story, in which the small group of surviving Mother Base members join up with various factions, such as the CFA or the ZRS, or whichever of the countless private forces were operating during that nine year span? During this, players are tasked with objectives to be carried out for their respective PFs, and ensure that enemy threats (other players, AI, or a combination of the two) don't disrupt those plans. Think of it sort of like FOB, except your FOB is the territory controlled by the PF you work for. The game becomes more of a defense game, and objectives you would be assigned would be things like preventing infiltration into your PF's outpost, escorting transport trucks from outpost to outpost (such as the one in Traitor's Caravan), securing valuable resources, that sort of thing. Then, 80% through the game, you're rediscovered by Miller, and asked to join the newly-formed Diamond Dogs in hopes of reclaiming your place on the world stage. From this point on, you carry out dispatch missions, gather intel, get a behind-the-scenes look at the bad blood between Miller and Ocelot, early life at Mother Base, and the rest is history. MGSV gets patched and a "Load Metal Gear Survive Data" options appears in the main menu. Doing this will integrate your Metal Gear Survive character into the Diamond Dogs staff list and is gifted with one unique ability (player-selected, such as "Climber," "Runner," etc.) that will give the character an advantage in FOB infiltration in MGSV and a Staff Rank bonus that will give the player a higher clear score, thus greater rewards in Events and Security Challenges.

This would be funny if the lack of story and cutscenes weren't half the complaint.

I have serious doubts that any of that would make a difference to many who are complaining.

It's more likely that it's to do with lack of Kojima and Konami as a company. Which is fine, but I wish people were honest about it.

That is some absurd news to wake up to. First page of this thread is very appropriately speechless...

I was looking forward to seeing where Konami took MGS without Kojima who in my opinion was out of ideas... but this? Wormholes and crystal zombies? Multiplayer? Half-price release?

It just reeks of a cheap way to extract more money from the franchise without making another proper game, possibly because they believe they don't have the talent to do that. Sad. I have no interest in an multiplayer MGS - I barely play anything online anyway.

The game itself might end up being okay (albeit not the kind of game I would usually be interested in), but good god, this did not need to be attached to Metal Gear. This comes off as a desperate move by Konami execs to say, "Hey guys, we're still making Metal Gear games! See, look! Guys?"

Only $30? Nice. Considering it already looks like it'll have a better budget that Umbrella Corps. Thanks to being able to just reuse MGSV assets.

Nope. What I said is based on whats been revealed and Konami's practices until now. Its a cheap online coop game.
Its stupid to expect any sort of gameplay-stopping story or memorable characters.

I was disappointed that Phantom Pain didn't have coop. I still want coop but why did they have to put zombies? I'm not against the idea of a Metal Gear horde mode but I wish they would've done regular coop first before horde mode coop.

Well they were zombies in mgsv

But that's ok because Kojima was involved and thought that was fine. He knows best right? 🙄

The #FuckKonami crowd is embarrassing. And I'm not sure how people can this generic and stale. Yeah zombies are played out, but I can't recall any co-op stealth zombie games set in an alternate dimension. Sounds pretty interesting when you combine that with the highly praised gameplay of MGSV..

No other dimension unrealistic shit,sure.

This is just a side story like the pic. Relax.

Oh, you mean to compare basing an entire game around extra-dimensional shit, with a game where that giant character appears on rare occasions in the side-content to the main game? Ok.

People saying "it's just a sidestory", look at something like Umbrella Corps for examples in how to devalue a franchise even if it's "just a sidestory".

I don't know why people have such a hard time with the zombies. They could very easily be related to the parasites we already saw in MGSV. I really hope that is the case, too.
