Sure, why not. Survivors of MSF disappearing into a wormhole to fight knockoff versions of the crystalline undead from The Duke's Archives probably doesn't make it into the top 10 weirdest things that has happened in Metal Gear.

Nope. What I said is based on whats been revealed and Konami's practices until now. Its a cheap online coop game.
Its stupid to expect any sort of gameplay-stopping story or memorable characters.

Again, you're only going to one end of a spectrum. There is more than one way to deliver a narrative. We don't know what the entirety of what this game is yet. To just immediately write it off narratively from a teaser is silly. Once we learn more about the game we might learn that there is no story at all. Or maybe there is. We don't know.

What could be more cynical than looking at a two minute announcement trailer and assuming you're aware of the entire scope and complexity of the game

I actually do hope Konami continue with Metal Gear (as they are clearly doing), but I want a series reboot with a new take on the story or at least a new chapter far removed from the Solid entries. This just looks generic.

But that's ok because Kojima was involved and thought that was fine. He knows best right? 🙄

The #FuckKonami crowd is embarrassing. And I'm not sure how people can this generic and stale. Yeah zombies are played out, but I can't recall any co-op stealth zombie games set in an alternate dimension. Sounds pretty interesting when you combine that with the highly praised gameplay of MGSV..

There weren't zombies in MGSV; I wish people would stop saying there were. There *were* people who were **temporarily** turned into puppets by the Skulls. We know it's temporary because you can fulton these puppets and they'll be added to your ranks.

When this game bombs so hard it cracks the Earth's core, will Konami go all "Welp, guess there's no interest in Metal Gear anymore, (except maybe Pachinko), oh well, no more games then!") ?

Or will they try again with an actual MGS game?

oh yeah you're right they were just people infected by words #science

You should know better. It's been explained by a few other people, but that's VR...a simulation. This is being explained as an "alternate universe brought to you by a wormhole"

You know the difference.

What do the polls have to do with whether this is just as silly as past games? Oh right, they don't.

:(

Shows that people are not supporting something so ludicrous of a concept, especially within the context of Metal Gear.

Oh man, so this is how it goes huh? WOW, didn't think Konami would actually give a fuck about video games period anymore.

I can only imagine what Kojima thinks. I will say this though - if they're going to continue with Metal Gear games, PLEASE give us a Metal Gear Rising 2.

Totally. I'm kind of surprised by all the negative reactions in here. I understand zombies are getting a little played out, but we've not seen them in Metal Gear yet so I'll definitely be checking it out. Plus it's $30 which makes it way more appealing to buy on a whim.

Count me in.

But they could very well be the same thing here. I have a feeling "zombies" is a lot easier to sell than "puppets controlled by the skulls"

Set directly after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Survive sees the members of Militaires Sans Frontières not killed in that game’s finale transported through wormholes into an alternate universe, where they’re forced to battle a force of crystalline zombies and, it seems, at least one Metal Gear itself.

“Metal Gear Survive will offer a fresh take on the series’ famed stealth elements,” said Konami European president, Tomotada Tashiro in a press release, “but within a unique co-op setting that is designed for a truly engrossing multiplayer experience.”

What the actual fuck?

Considering the closeup whatever it is, is missing half its head i hardly see how you can think its the same.

wow so it's not even a full game, they openly try to bait with the mgs name.

I imagine making a full MGS right now would be critically very shakey for them so in their own twisted way this is them trying to win people back.

Or milk the franchise. Either or.

After people who set everything on fire, a psychic who vibrates your controller, and a governer with a body as strong as diamond it's somehow zombies that are weird?

Ok.

Well , at least it sounds better than the new"Metroid" game and what you find at the center of universe on NMS

Call of duty has zombies why no MGS?

If they keep the gameplay of MGS5 and give good ambient /background the result could be good.

Umbrella Corps is that you?!

This seriously feels like the announcement of Umbrella Corps, a game no one wanted and probably very few will buy.

Maybe it'll be good? Idk, I'll wait and see. Don't have any investment in Metal Gear so I don't really care either way, but I haven't played a good horde like MP game for a while and this seems like it could be cool.

So...if they had their full heads, you wouldn't be bothered?

...Come on guys. We're talking about a game where we have a man on fire poofing in and out like nightcrawler. Flying whales and horses. But these guys couldn't even possibly be related to a parasite introduced in MGSV? Skull Face was basically a walking corpse.

But for some reason, people are choosing not to suspend belief with this. Makes no sense at all.

A full on MGS game would take a few years of development so we wouldn't be hearing about it for quite a while even if Konami were working on it.

Survive is just a quick and cheap cash in which will be recycling a lot of MGSV's assets.

Plus we already had zombies in MGS4.

Player-controlled zombies, at that!

I understand not wanting a spin-off, but basing it on the grounds that the concept is too stupid for Metal Gear really makes me wonder if said people have actually ever played Metal Gear. The series has had some of the most monumentally stupid shit in all of video games.

Ok.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like something Kojima himself would have come up with at some point lol. I'm not really fond of Konami, but this is among the least offensive things they could have done with the series.

Still, I don't really care about co-op, so I'll pass.

Just wait for when Kojima's new game is full of zombies and the naked man and baby are the last of humanity left. Heck, Kojima Productions' logo is a skeleton.
