They spared the yeezy's. Amateurs.

Wow.

Can a mod change the thread title to say robbed at gunpoint so people don't think this is about medals?

Well, I think maybe it's a given they would leave Ryan Lochte's credentials because what the on earth are you going to do with the ID and driver's license of a world-famous Olympic swimmer?

I got robbed at gunpoint during Carnivale this year, while I was visiting. I would still go back 10/10 had a blast otherwise.

Why did the IOC deny this immediately initially? Were they just trying to pretend that rio was some magically fairy land where this couldn't happen?

Maybe the robber was just so disappointed in how unenthusiastic or even unemotive Lochte was about the mugging that he just let him keep that shit.

That's sad to hear. I've been in a few similar situations in both Rio and Sao Paulo while travelling on business. The one thing I wouldn't advise doing is refusing to get on the ground, or whatever else the armed muggers demand of you. People get shot for less in Brazil. Don't be a flipping h̶e̶r̶o̶ idiot.

Some criminals are just that good, someone stole my wallet few years ago and mailed me back my id and driver license two weeks later, along with a note mentioning how much was in the wallet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Terrifying but it could have been much worse.

Rio is such a terrible place to host the olympics. Hopefully no one gets killed.

The IOC doesn't want people to know that they pick places that are unsafe to host the Olympics.

Pointing out stuff like this just reinforces what a colossal mistake it was to pick Rio.

Glad everybody is safe. Have there been a lot of incidents like this? I know initially there were some problems with the early arrivers and such, but it seems like things of been generally quiet, more than I expected at least.

I also wonder if the IOC might be sitting on any incidences until after the end, but then again I have a tendency to wear tinfoil hats

You're probably not wrong.

Sounds like Lochte and co were involved in a drug deal gone bad. Swimmers not named Phelps don't get the sweet sweet deals. Now having said I can't read Portuguese...so.

It basically says the police have photos of them arriving in the village.

There's a 3 hour gap between the moment they said they left the party and when they got back.

They also have their watches, wallets and cellphones.

It's still unclear. Only thing certain is that theres something else to this that they are not telling.

Not only that, but the testimonies of the athletes don't hold up and are different from each other.

Good thing lochte left rio, wonder if feigen is still around:

Rio judge issues search warrant for lochte and feigen over robbery report.

Oh dear!

For what though, do they want information on the muggers or are they saying they're lying?

Like, there's quite a few other muggers in Rio, how about you go take care of them instead of taking away Olympic athletes passports if the former is the case.

Lochte is a moron. He's making shit up cause he was never the heir to Phelps that he was built up to be, and never came to terms with that.

He tried to trademark the word 'jeah' for fuck's sake.

Nothing would have happened anyway. Unless they murdered someone and made up the story to cover it up I doubt anyone cares enough and the US government would've stepped in really quickly to protect them/get them out.

They might have been trying to get some drugs and got double crossed by the dealer.
