That's going to take some serious intervention, potentially rehab. I don't believe either will happen, realistically.

I think international shame, then more directed national shame coupled with millions lost in endorsements will at least service as his initial intervention. He also lied to his Mother.

Sadly, unless he becomes a swimming coach I think he'll really struggle to do anything but spiral. I hope he has some kind of support system to get him redirected (not likely it seems).

"What company wants to pay a spokesman who, at 32, gets belligerently drunk, pisses on and destroys property, lies about it, slanders a host nation, then scuttles out leaving his younger teammates in trouble for his own misdeeds? Swimming fast doesn't excuse lack of character. This guy is a loser."

What type of situations is it being used in Denmark where you don't think it applies? Billy Bush's goofy ass called him a kid too.

Apologies for the late response. Was in bed yesterday and only just got back on my feet! The term is usually used in debates online (which, in hindsight, might not be what we were talking about) as a way of dismissing any argument made by white men.

Example: "I think you're wrong, because so and so" - "... says the white male" etc.

And sorry, I have absolutely no idea who Billy Bush is :-)

edit: Also, seems like Lochte didn't get away with it per se. It's gonna cost him a lot of money, this stunt.

And now a company actually signed him to an endorsement

Cough drop company Pine Brothers announced the partnership, saying that it hopes people forgive the 32-year-old swimmer, who was involved in a drunken incident at a Rio de Janeiro gas station for which he has since apologized.

Lochte will appear in print ads and commercials, advertising that its throat drops are "forgiving on your throat."

"We all make mistakes, but they're rarely given front-page scrutiny," said Rider McDowell, CEO of the privately held company. "He's a great guy who has done incredible work with charities. I'm confident that Pine Bros. fans will support our decision to give Ryan a second chance."

He's also apparently going to be named as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars next Tuesday.
