Trump to introduce immigration plan. Campaign denies path to citizenship

I think history books will write about this campaign as the time when parts of our country devolved into Nazi Germany.

In the long run, after a couple of centuries have passed, I bet there will be quite a fascinating reconstruction of the 20th century that identifies and tracks the influence of fascism as it wove its way through multiple nations - even those ostensibly at war with one another over fascism of their enemy.

I've seen some already ponder that fascism has been one of the primary forces shaping most of the world for a century now. The rise of it triggered by a world becoming increasingly interconnected and interdependent, propelled in part by technology.

Kellyanne was asked on CNN if Trump's immigration plan would include a "deportation force" like he'd proposed earlier in the campaign and her answer was "to be determined." The pivot is real!

She also tried to do a Jedi mind trick on This Week by saying that Trump doesn't hurl personal insults...

The next ad will be the same except the black people will be arrested and the Mexican guy is standing all safe on his porch.

Wouldn't surprise me at all.

One of my first thoughts when I saw this news was that it was motivated by Conway combined with Trump's desire to win. Bannon must be really pissed off though.

Wait.. What?

Light him the fuck up on this.

This is the biggest flip flop ever. His entire campaign is built on a wall and roving bands of deportation officers.

Just goes to show once again that he is a double agent joke character that never really wanted to be president in the first place. I'm happy that he will complete his mission of destroying the GOP though.

And also shows that, once again, both the left and the right (vast majority of Americans and the media) have been duped by his tactics. There's reason he committed almost no money to his campaign.

Ahh the long awaited pivot. They said it wouldnt happen. I dont see this having much of an impact for Trump. People won't forget what exactly he built his "campaign" on in the first place, especially not Hillary.

I cant wait for the 1st debate.

Guys, his campaign is already pushing back on this report. There is about a 0% chance Trump will come out in support of amnesty. I think this report stems from him flirting with the idea of supporting it (aka lying) in that closed door meeting.

This is what I assumed yesterday. Ironically this would have been one of his "best" moments, but he's Trump, so everything he touches turns to shit.

Would love to see logistics of rounding up at least 11 million people. There won't be any violence at all.

They're already walking it back in right wing media. Amnesty is a non-starter for his base, who more and more sees this as a fight between Americans and Globalists desperate for cheap labor.

It really doesn't show that at all. That conspiracy theory ignores a lot of obvious points against it, including Trump's previous acts of racism.

Money trumps any outlandish shit this dude does to get attention. He's an empty vessel, a pure opportunist. He has no political ideology. He does whatever gets him money and attention. Being the president does not get you any money, and it requires actual work and stress.

While it wouldn't be a stretch to say that he probably planning on funneling money to his businesses instead of winning, calling him a double agent is downright silly.

Besides, if Trump's outreach to Kasich is any indicator, he wasn't planning on doing any actual work as the president. That was all going to be his VP's job, and he was going to be the figurehead (for that attention he craves).

Hmm, I wonder if there's already a power struggle going on between Bannon and Conway? It's been what? 3 days? Wouldn't surprise me to see more chaos.
He would have been stupid to bring on both and not ensure they were on the same page. But...

Why is it always about exploiting humans for cheap/free labor

This is why I'm going to have no problem when everything is automated

Total guesswork, but I think the teleprompter Trump is Conway, and Trump insanity plays more to Bannon. Then there's Trump himself, who is desperate to be #1 and will do anything to get it, not realizing he's setting fire to everything that got him where he is in the process.

Manafort was fired not even 48 hours after the reshuffle of power. It was a sinking ship yet again before it even kicked off.

Every time there is that mystical pivot, he always fucks it up by doing or saying something crazy soon after. Give it time, he'll shove his foot in his mouth and show he's not moved much, if any.

I'm actually happy Trump is playing the double agent, as he's exposing all the dog whistle bullshit the GOP has been doing since the era of the Southern Strategy began.

His friendship with the Clintons is longstanding and recognized even within larger media outlets, and it makes sense that he is trying to subvert the GOP to help the Clintons win:

Newsweek Article on their frienship

Washington Post Article on phone calls with Bill Clinton prior to 2016 presidential bid

It's BS, but don't worry about it, "Trump is Unstoppable" evolved into "Trump never wanted to Win" for a lot of people who can't process that Trump wasn't actually some unstoppable force like they imagined him to be in the primaries.

I don't even understand how anyone on his staff can even do their job. Looking past the desire and motivation to be a Trump news advocate on TV- his campaign literally has people standing up for his talking points like robots, and then he's 180'ing those points all the time-- sometimes in less than 24 hours! I mean, honestly... If you were one of them, how the hell would you even be assured that he's not at a rally somewhere backpedaling on the very thing you're simultaneously on CNN defending? It's beyond kool-aid drinking and totally off-the-rails-fucking crazy

Gotta love the election season when candidates start to promise immigration reforms to my people. Worked out well for Obama and his record number of deportations.

Who will they vote for?
Surely not Clinton.
These people will still vote for trump because he has that R next to his name. In their eyes, 12 years of Democrats is way too much. Same goes for every Republican that claims they are not voting for trump? They are, because they still have to go to work the next day and they don't want Democrats in power any longer.

I think people put on an act for the camera but once they are in that voting booth, with out people telling them what to do or being judged by a vocal minority, they vote R, and tell everyone else they voted Hillary.
They won't make it to the voting booth, they'll stay home. These sons of bitches did the same thing when the choice was Obama or Romney

So it's possibly not true.

I wonder how long it will take Trump to either confirm or deny this.

Knowing Trump, he may well do BOTH.

"And we will not let any illegal immigrant in our country take advantage of us and weasel their way into becoming a citizen. And we will make it so those who are now here illegally will have a path to citizenship."

He will stay it with no irony or realization of how much of a contradiction what he just said was.

If you're the Hillary camp how do you respond to this? I would go the route of.... now that you're losing in the polls you suddenly care?

Oh man. So easy. Just take credit for it and lament that people with opposing views don't actually have anyone to champion their politics. Dig in that this doesn't represent the people he's supposedly does, and for anyone enticed by it, remind them that this is the kind of shit dems have been pushing for for a long itme.

Trump's campaign is doing a wonderful job of rolling out his new immigration policy. Top notch stuff.

Seriously. Is the campaign secretly run by children? Even the stuff they want out there they can't get straight. This is the straight-shooter and his straight-shooting team. Fucking amateurs.

Yeah but you still kill babies, so probably not changing anyone's minds here.

Agree with the guy saying Trump needs to get lit the fuck up.

Actually this is sort of amazing. This is always the critique of the GOP from the hard right on immigration, they talk tough then fold when confronted with governing.

Donald trump is the only one who didn't "succumb" to activists. He is the only one pure of heart and mind to turn back the freeing hordes build that wall. He never has to worry about implementing it but is hardening support amongst Hus most loyal.

Haha, hey they're personally involved with the campaign now with Bannon.

Anyway, does it make sense that Trump would suddenly promote amnesty? I bet you could count the number of his fans who support that on one hand.

I think the "Independents" were kind of hoping for it. Any reason to help make their choice of Trump not make them look like pieces of racist dung.

Isn't his base largely independents?
This is fantastic for independents that hate seeing party line policies.

"Oh he's not for amnesty? This is fantastic for independents because they agree with him that illegal immigrants have to go. Or, you know, whatever he says I'll agree with because I'm not voting on policy or ideology."
