Destiny: Rise of Iron - Launch Trailer

Nah Marty didnt get a credit in TTK, as would be required if it was his music. Not sure about RoI, haven't seen the credits but I doubt it honestly.

Marty wrote music of spheres. And Bungie owns it, but they haven't been using it which is their right.

No he didn't. All the music on The Taken King was post-Marty.

Whoops, serves me right for not keeping up on that bit of news. I figured that since Bungie/Activision paid for the compositions they'd still end up using them.

I've already pre-ordered, I'm going to play it, and I know I'm going to have a great time doing the raid.... but watching that trailer all I can think is "oh good, another crawly tank boss, another servitor boss, and another ogre boss. That's exactly what I want more of...."

Realistically, can't wait to eventually get to the raid a month or two from now (just don't have the time). Hopefully I can get a group of first timers to go in "blind" with me (not reading any boss strategies). That was so much fun during King's Fall. Hopefully the story and missions aren't a huge disappointment like The Dark Below's were.

I'm back in since yesterday. Addicted all over again.

I so wish content like The Taken King was dropping every 2-3 months for this game.

Hopefully, Bungie get their production pipeline worked out for Destiny 2.

Yup. In.
Just reinstalled Destiny last week to get some things done before the expansion hits. Starting to get my chops back.

So, my hope on top of this being a fun ride is that they really change the playlist rotation to include all maps and strikes going forward. i still cannot believe that i rotate the same 3-4 strikes when i play a strike playlist.

imho, Excerpt from the Ecstasy is an iconic track and i miss it greatly, hell, i dont even know if its still in the game anymore.

Me too. I feel like a lot of year one decisions were due to system limitations of the earlier gen.

What they did on ps3 and 360 is amazing, but man that crimped design.

Tempted to get the complete edition and make it my jumping in point. But I'll probably be too busy with Dragon Quest.

Played TTK like mad trying to get ready for King's Fall launch. Moved right after last October and haven't been back since. I miss DGAF. You all are the best.

To pre-order or to keep playing through the backlog that Destiny created? That is the question.

If you plan to get it eventually you might as well pre-order.

You'll get a shiny black Gjallarhorn.

I know! It makes holding off all the more difficult!

Has there been any announcements for the year 3 plan? Just Rise of Iron or will more DLC drop?

I already paid for Rise of Iron on PSN. Is that considered a pre order for the Iron Gjallarhorn? Or do you have to pre order the physical edition of the collection thats coming out the same day?

I feel like the Iron Lord armor sets are the first time the in game characters actually looked like that gorgeous original concept art shown so long ago...

Here is what we know right now:

tCE5yyO.png

The Weekly Heroic Strike Playlist (the one that included all the new strikes from Taken King and the redone strikes) will be replaced by the Siva Crisis Heroic Playlist. This playlist has the 1 new strike and the 2 redone strikes on heroic difficulty. In the Vanguard section of the Directory, there is Taken War Heroic, Taken War, Vanguard Legacy, and soon to be added Siva Crisis.

So, it doesn't really seem like there will be a playlist that has every single strike in it, maybe to your disappointment. There is a much larger variety of playlists however. The only strike that hasn't been redone at this point is "The Nexus", so that strike only shows up in Vanguard Legacy. With Strike exclusive gear dropping from each Year 2 and Year 3 strike, and the new Skeleton Key mechanic coming in Rise of Iron, there will be a reason to go back and play those older strikes, if you want specific gear from them (Example: Imago Loop from Vex Strikes, Grasp of Malok from Omnigul).

I can easily imagine skepticism on this one. Who's left working on this at Bungie? Is this even the C team? I can't picture them not being all hands on deck with Destiny 2.

ODST was made by small team at Bungie and it turned out great. After that team shipped ODST they all joined the Reach team. Likely to happen again after RoI launches.

So damn hyped for this. It's crazy how much of a 180 I've done when it comes to how I feel about Destiny. Bought the Ghost Edition on PS4, but had nobody to play with since I had no interest in DGAF. Rebought it on XB1 to play with friends and it's now one of my favorite games this gen.

So about that preorder bonus:

Pre-order Destiny: Rise of Iron and receive a uniquely themed black and silver Iron Gjallarhorn Exotic Rocket Launcher, obtained by completing the related in-game quest.*

Does that mean if I don't preorder, but still do the quest, I can still get a Gjallarhorn, just not the "uniquely themed" one?

Yep. You'll get a normal GHorn if you didn't preorder, and a black one if you did.

Are there any PS4 digital pre-order deals on the full game + expansions?

Digitally? No. On PSN it's $60 USD or $80 CAD.

They've been shifting resources around ever since they rebooted Destiny 2. This might even be content that was once meant to be in 2. I wouldn't worry. It looks great.

Sigh. This is how my Destiny releases have always gone:

Destiny Launches: get bored after a couple months
Dark Below: get bored after a week or two.
House of Wolves: get bored after a week or two.
Taken King: get bored after a week or two.

And yet, here I am again with that scratch to play every time a new expansion hits. >.< Maybe this one will finally hook me...

I'm not worried, but I can imagine why people would. Everyone I know with electricity is buying it and it costs me less money than the first hour of happy hour so I'm sure to get my money's worth. I just know that, for me, destiny is best when you come in with the lowest expectations possible.

Pretty unnecessary comment.

It's weird. This is as big an add-on as Taken King, right? Yet, I was pretty damned hyped by TTK but feel nothing with this...still trying to figure out why.

It's probably because TTK was the first time Destiny really came into its own for me and was a big step up quality wise from the base game and previous DLCs. I also quite liked the setting. But now the new area is just another place in Old Russia, it seems like there are no new sub-classes(?) and the story doesn't interest me at all.

It also feels a lot like this is just that small, necessary stepping stone a few people from Bungie worked on while everyone else is busy finishing up Destiny 2 for next year...I dunno. I'll play it but I'm not hyped at all this time.
