They're also xenophobic. The only thing they want to hug you is with chains.
Hey guys/gals, how demanding is the game hardware wise?
I've got a new computer ordered, but just wondering if my old one would be able to run the game in the meantime.
It just falls short on the minimum processor specs... it's an Athlon II X4 620 2.6ghz, while the minimum is X4 640 3.0ghz. It runs Civ V on standard size maps fine, large if I've got some patience, and Cities Skylines is good for the most part.
Wouldn't mind playing this on the weekend and it looks like it's 20% off at the moment.
Thanks
Dev Diary 45 - Ship Balance
Hard to tell how all these chances will effect game quality, but it looks like some general positive stuff laid out in this dev diary.
They seem too restricitive to me. Like each hull has a predesigned role. not sure what the point of custumizaiton would be.
You'd probably bog down in the late game with tons of ships. You can probably do a smaller sized galaxy though.
Thanks I'll probably give it a shot, at worst I'll have to play smaller galaxies until the new comp arrives. You'd probably bog down in the late game with tons of ships. You can probably do a smaller sized galaxy though.

I'd love to play CK2/Stellaris exclusively in Ironman, but unfortunately the constant saving gets on my nerves... so I don't.
Unless I'm forgetting something, the ship designer will still have different modules with standard weapons (i.e. projectile, missle, beam). It's only XL weapons, hangars, point defense, and torpedoes that are going exclusive.Haven't played in a while, but the ship changes look good. Customization with ill-defined and unbalanced roles kind of took the fun out of designing a fleet to me.
But are fighters just a cruiser thing now? And BS artillery/support?
Idk. If the customization had worked better on the balance front, it'd be better, but in my experience they needed to add some structure. I just hope customization isn't trivialized.
Yep. It saves too frequently, I think it's every month? Hate it.

Yeah. It's very harsh in CK2 on high speeds, where it'll be saving every 2-3 seconds. It's also jarring in general, where you'll have a few pauses every minute at an average speed.
For Stellaris, it's not quite so bad, but still a bit too much.

In Stellaris: Leviathans, the galaxy will be filled anew with adventure and challenge as your new and naïve space-faring empire comes face-to-face and ship-to-ship with a host of dangers and rewards. Guardians: Stationary societies that have built defenses throughout a system to protect something of great value. Do you dare seize their treasure? Enclaves: Independent outposts of traders or mercenaries who are willing to make a deal. Exchange resources or hire a small fleet to supplement your own. War In Heaven: Where will your fledgling empire lie if two ancient Fallen Empires decide to renew old grievances in a War in Heaven? Will you err on the side of caution and take a side with the stronger power, or will you strike at both whilst they are occupied with their own titanic struggle? Leviathans is the first Story Pack for Stellaris, Paradox Development Studio’s best-selling science fiction strategy game. With new events, new encounters and new options, Leviathans adds a lot of new material, including new music and sounds, to one of 2016’s biggest strategy hits. Stellaris: Leviathans will be available this Autumn.
Woah that's cool. Is it the one that the writer from Sunless Sea is involved in?

That's pretty amazing, but will Jazz Boatman make an appearance?
Man that trailer is filled with awesome!
They say release is Autumn... will it conicide with the next big patch, or will this come after?
I hope the DLC isn't too expensive because i really want to buy at day one. This game got me into paradox games, does paradox make "pre-orders for DLC"?
I would be entirely comfortable paying 15-20. 25 is pushing it, anything more is "wait for a sale" territory.

You'd buy it at $25. Don't lie.
The last 3 expansions for Crusader Kings II and their prices (in USD)have been:
Reaper's Due: $10
Conclave: $15
Horse Lords: $15
And for Europa Universalis IV:
Mare Nostrum: $15
The Cossaks: $20
Common Sense: $15
So, it probably won't be $25.
