Problem is time and time again even in "justified" shootings the initial reports tend to be falsified with things exaggerated to make it seem they had no choice. I just take the police report with a grain of salt; there is no motivation to not give a heavily PR version of the facts, if not outright lie, because even when charges are filed nobody gets in trouble for false reports.

Sad thing is when comparing someone emotionally destraught and emotional about the death of a loved one vs the supposed impartial protectors of peace and order...you dont know who to believe. And that lack of trust lies strictly at the feet of the police department.
The one thing that leans me towards the police side is they claim they recovered the firearm, that is black and white (no pun intended).

But obviously given the many cases we have witnessed in recent history, they have basically lost the benefit of the doubt.

A few weeks ago, my mother called 911 because someone was trying to get into the house. When the dispatcher asked her to describe the person (she could see him through the window blinds), they said "Is he black or hispanic?" It was a white guy, by the way.

I was mugged a few years ago on my birthday, by a white dude. Every person I spoke to, all the cops and the 911 dispatch, all asked me if the guy was "black or hispanic?" They also acted visibly surprised when I would tell them the guy was white.

Anybody else getting to the point where they just don't even know what to say anymore with these threads?

Just (...)

I'm getting to that point. I don't know what to say anymore, and even more depressing and frustrating is not knowing what to do. This needs to stop.

A chaotic scene has erupted in the night in North Charlotte after an African-American man was shot and killed in an officer-involved shooting.

Police say they were serving an outstanding warrant when they came upon Keith Lamont Scott in his car. They say Scott got out, had a gun on him, and put the officers in imminent danger. Officer Brentley Vinson shot Scott.

"Man was in his truck, reading a book waiting for his kid to come home," said a man on scene. "Cops shot him, for nothing."

Emergency services were called to the scene where they transported Scott to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

"As is standard procedure with any officer involved shooting, Officer Vinson has been placed on paid Administrative Leave," the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said in a statement Tuesday night. Officer Vinson has been employed with the CMPD since July 2014. He is African American.

A man who said he's the brother of Scott said to NBC Charlotte this evening:

"Just know that all white people are (expletive) devils. All white cops are (expletive) devils, and all white people."

"He was waiting on his son to get from school and police came out with no.. he didn't have on no uniform to determine if he was a police or not -- he was an undercover and he just jumped out and yelled 'gun' and shot at him," he told NBC Charlotte's Tanya Mendis.

"I think they shot him four times, I'm not sure, but he's dead."

Hostility among the community grew quickly as word of what happened spread. A woman saying she was the man's daughter posted a video on Facebook Live from the scene.

"Shot my Daddy for being black! And look they're just standing there."

As night fell, a massive crowd of people gathered on Old Concord Road, chanting in protest after another officer-involved shooting where an African American man was killed.

"People get upset when we say 'black lives matter, black lives matter,' said a student. "But these are the people we have to focus on the most because these types of situations always happen."

Putting the racism out on front street lol. At least have the dignity to ask for his race and nod like you saw that one coming if it's a POC instead of just asking for what you expect.

I just come on here every day now expecting to see some fucked up story like this. Like what the fuck!?

Usually when I need a vacation I just have to fill out some forms.

Seriously. What the fuck!?

What is the end goal here?

There's no end game, just an eternal vigilance in which one must keep the faith that holding the police accountable for, well, anything would fatally injure their ability to serve their irreplaceable and necessary social function. Sure, maybe this time some "mistakes were made" and the cover and interference are inappropriate and perhaps even a little embarrassing, but if it weren't there you basically couldn't even do policing right at all and the country would crumble into hellish and debauched criminal anarchy.

Some people were whining about Kaep not standing up for the anthem. Look at this shit. It keeps happening.

Police are now using teargas on the protestors..

So did he even have a weapon on him or not?

Man, this is only two hours away from me. This stuff alone has me scared of speeding and getting stopped by a cop. I don't drive as fast as I used to.

If only there was a good guy with a gun to shoot the police officer? Is that the pro-gun logic here?

Events like this are a direct consequence of having everyone loaded up to their eyeballs in a society with a deeply held hatred/fear of each other caused by racism.

Wait it confirms the brother had a gun but why did they shoot the disabled other brother?

His brother saying man was arm and he got out of the car because he was arm and scared..

His brother stated the undercover officer ran up on him and yelled gun and open fire.

At least that what i got out of everything.

How does that confirm the gun? You're taking one side of the story, which you would have to admit would be a very self-serving story to tell.

Keep your mind open.

this a quote from his brother. "BREAKING: brother of man killed in CMPD shooting says he got out of his car because he was armed & scared of PD"

A lot of news stories like this get posted here, but this one is just ridiculous. A book was mistaken for a gun?

That's...just, I mean, seriously.

At least that what i got out of everything.

Surprised that a disabled person even has access to a gun, not that I know exactly what his disability is.
