We can bring in terrorists involved in shootouts and muderous loons alive but somehow unarmed black people keep buying the farm.

Fuck this country

And a big, bright, beautiful, black blazing flame is extinguished. You'll be in our hearts wumster.

long live the king

I always knew being the blackest in my family was a blessing in disguise. Now I can serve under the master, but Alas, I am too late. He's left us all to ascend to the heavens as the GON(God Of Niggas).

Anyway back to the story, how long before we get a more official accounting of what happened here?

Also, will undercover cops be expected to wear body cams in the future too?

gone too soon.

On the first point: however long it takes for them to figure out how they need to justify their killing. Probably in the morning.

On the latter, they'll probably find a way to get them to work for undercover cops because they can't say "undercover cops don't have to wear them. Also, everyone is now undercover."

In 10-20 years, he'll send us a prophet to lead us on the true path. But until then let's try and get some actual fucking reform going.

Another day, another case of black people getting shot and killed for trivial reasons, most of the times unjustifiable and entirely narrated subjectively in favor of the cops.

And some people first reaction is #notallcops. How about some empathy for the victims?

because I hate myself, I went down the twitter hole to see what the deflect is.

"bu-but the cop was black doe" seems to be the leader right now. and thus they can focus on the brother's statement instead of y'know... A GUY GETTING SHOT UP FOR NO FUCKING REASON.

The murderous mobs just won't stop killing innocent people.

Except if they're white.

That's not true. I mean, it's 100% justified to be angry at what is obviously a systematic problem, but still. You're more likely to get killed if black (and certainly not the point I'm trying to argue against), but It just feels kind of disrespectful to the white innocent people that have been killed by police to act like it doesn't even happen. To be clear, I'm only saying this because of your post and not trying to make a broader point.

This is a completely moot and stupid point that doesn't contribute anything to the conversation. Are there people who seriously come to such discussions saying "not all people are bad" and other obvious nonsense? Of course not. We aren't talking about 'the good ones' (which I call fucking normal ones. You don't get a star for NOT killing somebody). There is a problem and it needs to be discussed. What the hell would such a stupid thing as saying 'not everyone is...' help?!

What is more infuriating is the stupid thing that some say "well, it is worse somewhere else". So because there is a more serious situation somewhere else this suddenly negate the horror that is happening over here?!

I don't understand the logical process that some people have.

Did you quote the wrong post? I don't get how this has anything to do with what I said.

I believe the poster meant innocent Black people are much more likely to be killed than innocent White people (or otherwise even), not that one is inherently worse than the other.

Oh I completely agree with that. He seemed to word it like police don't kill innocent white people, though.

Scarier than if you are in real danger from someone trying to harm/assault you that you would be afraid of calling for help? Or if you saw someone else being assaulted would you say "no i'm not calling the cops, i'm afraid of them".

You're saying that you are more fearful of a chance that a cop is a bad one, than the certainty of whatever threat you are facing at the moment that would make you think about needing help.

A million times, yes.

Good for him, doesn't change the fact the police in the US are part of a racist institution.

I would guess that you can only be around people saying things like "Black people are more dangerous" "be more careful around the Black people" before you start believing it yourself even if you are Black.

A million times, yes.

Exactly. You are calling people that have shown time and time again that if they feel like their lives are in danger at any point, they are firing that weapon because better anybody else than them. You are essentially bringing more danger to a situation. Like I said earlier, last resort. If you believe you are going to die, then you might as well take the chance with the police anyway.

This is beyond horrible... :\

I am getting seriously anxious about my upcoming trip to the US. I'll be damn nervous if I get stopped by a cop in my rental, with a international license.. :o

Which might cause the officer to get suspicious. Dangit.

As long as you're not brown you're ok. Just have to remember that cops in the usa think they are at war with the population..it's rare to have a nice officer. They want you to bow to their authority.

Just notice how security is at the airport in america, vs where you are. How they treat you. It's the same with cops but a bit worse. At leat that was my rake with eu vs usa airports. Night and day.

This literally happened a mile away from my apartment and just down the road from UNC Charlotte. John Kirk turns into Old Concord road once you cross University City Blvd. I'm stunned at the moment.

I think a huge factor is def involving these incidents with how close they are in range to people. These stories seem so isolated but I see it as an eventual probability that I'll be within range of an incident.

It makes me paranoid and fucking mad as hell. Its all so confusing.

Then all the more reason for cops not to shoot unless someone fires at them first.

Correct. The moment a cop decides to use a gun, they are deciding they intend to kill the person. Cops should not roll up with a gun, ever, unless they fully intend to kill someone. There are no non-lethal shots. Guns are not for subduing, they are for killing.

This is how my father was almost killed by police 40 years ago. Mistook him for a fugitive. Shot him in the back. Inexcusable that things like this have been happening for this long.

As a 6'2" 270lbs black man, I'm not afraid to say that just the sight of an officer terrifies me to the bone. There are so many shades of anger I'm feeling right now that it's taking me everything I have not to say something that would 100% get me permabanned.

I don't even think thoughts and prayers are worth it to give out anymore. Do I even have any left?
